Hi, everyone, I recently started calorie counting - one week ago, so far, so good except for one problem - I AM ALWAYS HUNGRY! I am 181 lbs, 5ft 5 inches and am eating about 1400 calories per day, so far I have lost 2.5 lbs. I have started having much more fruits and vegetables and a pretty balanced diet. I want to know:
1) Will this perpetual hunger go away, will my body ever accept this change?
2) Is there anything I can do to feel full for longer?
Please help me!!!
Congrats on the first 2.5 lbs!! I too started a week ago and in the 1400 calorie region and so far down 2 lbs. For me I have been drinking copious amounts of water. Really find that it helps with the hunger. I'm honestly not feeling too hungry. I also have some pre-counted snacks ready to go if the water isn't helping.
Good luck!!
Hi, I had the same problem---I've lost around 30 pounds since March. My body adapted to less calories and I did stop being hungry. In fact, some days I have to kind of force myself to eat enough calories. Ok, these are rare days, but still...your body will adjust.
I drink lots of Coke Zero, its so good. In addition, I buy some delicious, nutritious products that are low calorie: Vitalicious Vitamuffins---they come in chocolate and other flavors, you can warm them in microwave, only 100 calories and they are filling. I buy donuts from HoleyDonuts.net, delivered to my home. They're lower calorie & filling. For the first couple of months I especially needed really good stuff like this to stay motivated. Potato Salad made lower calorie/fat. Now I want mostly fruits & veggies and the season's perfect for that. I use SmartBalance ButteryBurst zero calorie spray for corn on the cob & veggies. Lots of good spices including bacon salt by D&L---its great on corn, potatoes, anything that could use bacon flavoring. Its zero calories. Pepperidge Farms came out with some low calorie bread-type products. See http://www.hungry-girl.com/ . Sign up for their daily emails on exceptional lower calorie products. Click on "Chew the Right Thing" for archived suggestions. Oh, Breyer's makes some great double-churned ice cream that's maybe 110 calories---even the chocolate!!
In sum, do whatever it takes to keep yourself on-track. I had to trick myself a lot in the beginning. Its so much easier now because I can't eat much.
Oh---if you exercise more you can up the calories some.
Good luck!
I know what you mean; I look at these calorie counts and think, omg, I'll be SO hungry! I have tried several products that work at actually assuaging one's hunger, but my bigger problem is --- I don't eat because I'm hungry!!! So, being full doesn't really stop me from continuing with comfort food! That being said, I have found one product that works pretty well without any nasty side effects and I do recommend it because it will help fill you up. But I'm not sure of the rules of these posts --- can we mention a product by name? Well, I guess I'll go ahead, as the previous poster mentioned several products. It's a fiber concentrate in softgel form called PGX (the letters stand for the scientific name of the components, and it's available at Costco, at least it was, last time I looked. I also found it online at some of the vitamin supplement websites and one of them actually had a comparable price to Costco. They also have their own website, so you can research it there.
Has anybody tried Sensa?
This is yet another DAY 1 for me. I am 54 years old, 5'10" tall and this morning weighed in at 204 lbs. I'd be thrilled to lose 40 lbs., I know I'd feel physically so much better if I even lost 25. I am inspired by Phyllicia Rashad, the new J.C. spokesperson; she looks terrific. I've got to do something, as my body is starting to fall apart with so many aches and pains, the worst of which is chronic knee pain.
Alright girls --- I'm on board! Day 1 --- and counting! ![]()
P.S. where does one get Vitalicious VitaMuffins?
My grocery store, Giant Eagle, carries the Vitalicious muffins in the natural foods freezer section. When you get them you'll have to keep them frozen also so they stay fresh. They can be warmed in the microwave, and wow are they ever dilicious that way!
I also signed up for emails announcing special deals on the Vitalicious web site. http://www.vitalicious.com/ I found out about these from Hungry Girl. They're filling and nutritious and delicious.
Good luck!! Think about how much healthier you'll be, long-term, and that might keep you motivated. It works for me. Also, clothes fit so much better. But mostly I want to be healthy for as long as possible.
Thanx so much for the advice guys, do appreciate it. Gonna definitely try some of these to see how well they work.
