always wash the salad

so i was tucking in to my cress based salad when i unearthed a ridiculously large black bug that appeared to be mummified. way to put me off my lunch. i guess, for some, it'd be a good, crunchy source of protein.

Yes, always wash the salad! I work in a restaurant and I can't even tell you how many times insects have shown up in our salad leaves -- quite a disturbing thought. Little wonder it turned you off your lunch! I would be struggling to eat for the rest of the day.

Off the top of my head I can't think of anyone who would enjoy mummified insect as a yummy source of protein, though. Maybe some indigenous tribe somewhere? Creepy. o.0

haha. well i usually do wash it, i guess i was a little impatient. learnt my lesson though! i'm sure mummified insect is a delicacy somewhere, if a little gruesome. so glad i noticed it before crunching down. blurghh.

That is gross and I must admit that I don't always wash the salad especially if it's coming out of a bag that says something catchy like "triple washed" on it!  Very lazy of me I know.  At least it was a bug and not a live frog that was found in a bag of lettuce a while back.  I would crap my pants and probably never eat lettuce again.
