Amazing PMS snack - a chocolate covered strawberry hack
I'm feeling...hormonal today, and I was trying to think of a treat that wouldn't totally knock my diet out of whack, and I thought, chocolate covered strawberries! It's mostly strawberry with just a thin layer of chocolate, how bad can they be?
And then I started looking at nutritional info online and recipes and I found out just how bad. The first one I looked at was 450 calories for six strawberries! The next one was 300 for six. They all basically involved melting chocolate chips and then adding shortening or something else to make a dip, but even the chips melted by themselves are pretty hefty in calories.
Enter Jello Dark Chocolate Sugar Free Pudding. Only 60 calories in a singe serving cup, and it's about enough to cover a dozen strawberries. I chopped mine up into quarters and dipped them into the pudding with a fork.
To. Die. For.
And 127 calories. Total. And it didn't even taste like a "diet" version, it tasted awesome! Better than chocolate covered strawberries I've had before where the chocolate gets stuff and kind of crumbles when you bite into it. Chocolate craving=satisfied.
