I just got a prescription for Amitiza today.... are you still taking it? Do the side effects get any better?
I have no side effects, i JUST started my own post on this subject!
it made me go everyday, every morning in the beginning. Everything was fine and dandy, now I am going back to my old ways (it has been like a month and a half)
I just got this prescription on Friday related to my ed and results from the colonscopy. I have had side effects such as being tired, headaches, chest pains, dry mouth, dizziness, but I think some of these side effects are ed related too...I have the hardest time eating regular food without severe stomach pain for days..I been off and on doing Ensure but I can't live on supplements forever...any other ideas?
im reviving this old thread thanks to NYCGIRL who pointed it out to me, i just started the drug a few days ago but i haven't seen any improvement yet.
i did notice that I'm a bit weezy in my chest lately but i don't know if im just getting a cold or if its related.
anyone taking it??
I'm still taking it although I stopped taking it in the am and just take it at night now. When I took it in the morning I would get wheezy and like I need to cough all the time. It took me about 2 months to really notice a good difference and that was when I was taking 2x daily. I still notice an improvement over not taking it at all and every few months I take it back to 2 pills if I need to. I would get with your doctor before switching things up but mine is a bit of a jerk so I didn't bother. *He told me that the other side effects I had were not related to Amitiza even though it said it on the freaking drug sheet from the pharmacy.* That's why I didn't bother....
Hope it works for you!
thanks!
i didnt realize some ppl take it 2/daily but the doctor did say its a med where the dosage is increased over time. i dont know though, i cant tell if im getting a cold or just weezy, which i never am and i dont have asthma, it feels like a chest cold though. ive never had neg side e ffects to any drug before so im not srue if its related or just a cold? how long did it take for the med to kick in?
It took about 2 months for me to notice a difference but I was also eating a lot of insoluble fiber at the time and I just realized that my body can't handle that. So I might have felt better sooner otherwise. If it doesn't progress than it probably is from the medicine. Does it get better after a few hours? The wheezy part always stuck around most of the day but the cough only lasted a few hours.
hi-
so you find soluble fiber to be helpful or what? the weeziness comes and goes, today i was ok so well see...no cough though.
2 months to notice a change in the constipation, wow, long! so weird, i never had asthma or anything before.
thanks!
Soluble fiber seems to be easier for my body to digest and seems to keep things a little happier than insoluble fiber.
Like I said it might haven taken longer for me to notice a difference because of my Insoluble fiber intake. Actually, I did feel really good for the first week or so and noticed a difference and then it sort of settled and it was like it took my body a while to get used to it or something.
