Lol, and my husband just bought Ol' Roy dog food to try it out. 

I have a doggie.  I used to feed her Eukanuba.  Then when they started to distribute the stuff in chain grocery stores, they changed the ingredients.  It was not an improvement.  It was about the same time she developed a tumor and we went through surgical removal.  I gave her DMG to build up her immune sustem and keep her outta the sun for extended periods of time.  But I started feeding her Solid Gold.  I think its frm Norway.  Its the best stuff I can find.  I get the dry "Hunden Flocken" and I cook ground lamb and 1 pt white indian basmati to 1 pt brown basmati.  Its total is about a 1/1/1/ ratio.  I don't mess around with her diet anymore. 

I have seen a lot of news about recalls.  That, and the Eukanuba ing. change w/o notice, are why I do my best to control exactly what she is eating. 

She's my baby, ya know, so I feed her with the same care I feed my husband and I. 

YAY SOLID GOLD!  Boo Nutro, Pedigree, and all the others that keep getting recalled again and again.

I've never fed solid gold.  I feed totally raw meat and bones.  

That's even better =)

Id stay away from Ol' Roy... it's one of the worst brands you can feed your dog, nothing but crap.  I don't think Pedigree is much better.  Personally, I'd recommend feeding all natural if you can, but for most people it's just not realistic.  Some of the better foods IMO are Solid Gold, Innova, California Natural, Eagle Pack Holistic.  I also like the Castor & Pollux Natural Ultramix... has fruit chunks in with the kibble.  My girl really likes it.  All of these foods are more pricey, but you'll save in the long run because they won't have so many vet bills when they get older.  :)

When my puppies went onto adult dog food- I bought Beneful and my friend told me the truth about the sugar and all the crap they put in it.  (I read reviews online & talked to my vet)  I tried to GIVE IT AWAY and the dog shelter wouldnt even take it...

pedigree is the only thing boy will feed our puppy, the only thing he's fed any of his dogs who've all lived to 15 years plus with no major health issues what so ever.... seems to work for us.. I'm not in the USA though, they may make things differently here

I had a dog live that long on cheap lunch meat and cat food.  He probably would have lived to 20 if he'd been fed properly.  It's about genetics right?  We all hear about those people who lived to 100 and smoke and eat junk food.  Genetics!
