AMRAP anyone? Doing mine for stage 1 this week. Any thing I should know?
Anyone where I am at? Looking for company going into stage 2.
I actually thought I'd be doing A LOT more reps with some of the exercises than I did, especially since I began the step-ups with 5 lb weights and ended with 20 lb weights, but I could only manage 25 reps (I think). I also hurt my left hamstring while doing lunges, so I actually only did 5ish lunges with my left leg, and did somewhere around 25-30 lunges with my right leg.
All in all, I really pushed myself, because I wanted to make it count as a good workout. I did between 20-30 reps for each exercise, and for the first time ever, I was able to do 25 pushups with good form in without stopping!
I am amazed at the pushups! Wow! I can't do them still. Makes me wants to scream!
Doing mine tonight. Will see.
Keep trying, you will get there. I think I had a fair amount of core strength (that is, until I started doing planks in stage 2
) before I started doing pushups. About a month ago, I could only do 5, and I was shaking the entire time.
I still stink at planks and push-ups.
I have started doing this kind of thing for step-ups though. I'm not using any weights for them currently. These are tough enough with just body weight. ![]()
I can't do push ups on the floor - I use the smith machine with the bar on the 2nd slot from the bottom anything lower and I can't do them - even with the angle I can only do about 8- 12
I suck at pushups. I can only do 6 regular ones (with good form) I struggle through the rest on an angle on my weight bench. around 18" high I think....
It makes me so mad that I (we!) can't do these. I am determined now.
I got to a knucklehead gym and I hate doing these modified. I hate looking like a weekling in this area. Grrrrrrrrrr![]()
Other people in this group have said some of the other things I am doing (like a lat pulldown at 70lbs) -that I have strong arms? Then how come I can't do this. I guess it is more of a core thing.
If I get through this book and can do decent pushups I will feel successful!
I think it's more core than just arms. When I first started to push myself with these, I felt it in my chest, and my arm sockets, not so much my arms. When you start doing planks in stage 2, I'm guessing that will make your core stronger and make pushups possible.
