"Amy's" Products

Quote  |  Reply

Yesterday I tried one of their frozen dishes-- Asian Noodle Stir Fry... and it was actually pretty good.  I had been turned off to Amy's Frozen Meals when I looked at the Nutrition Facts on the Pesto Tortelini, though, I've always like the canned Low-Fat Tomato Soup.

I usually don't eat frozen or canned food, but it's rather difficult when you're in college and have a microwave as your only cooking method. However, Amy's doesn't seem to have too many preservatives in their products.

Getting to my point... What are all of your favorite Amy's products that you recommend I try? The vegetable enchiladas didn't look too bad either...

I haven't tried many Amy's products but I have tried the burritos and I really liked them.  Partically the bean and cheese.

Nutrition: http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-amys-b ean-cheese-burrito-i84259

I bought some Apple Toaster pops (in the freezer section) yesterday and can't wait to try it.

Oh My Goodness!  The Vegetable Enchillada's are to die for.  LOVE THEM!

I've tried zillions of Amy's products, since I used to be vegetarian and ate one for lunch and/or dinner almost every day. They're still nice on occasion, but I find the protein to be a little too low and the sodium (unless you buy the low-sodium ones) to be a little too high.

Here are the ones I've tried and my rating of them...

  • Re-fried Black Beans - 9/10
  • Traditional Refried Beans - 8/10
  • Medium Chili - 6/10
  • Non-Dairy Burrito - 9/10
  • Black Bean Burrito - 7/10
  • Breakfast Burrito - 7/10
  • Black Bean Enchilada Whole Meal - 10/10
  • Low-sodium Lasgna - 8/10
  • Mattar Panner - 10/10
  • Mattar Tofu - 9/10
  • Marinara Sauce - 5/10
  • Roasted Vegetable Vegan Pizza - 6/10
  • Cheese Pizza - 9/10
  • Black Bean Soup - 7/10
  • Minestrone Soup - 8/10
  • Chunky Vegetable Soup - 9/10
  • Lentil Soup - 9/10
  • Lentil Vegetable Soup - 8/10
  • All-American Veggie Burger - 8/10
  • Texas Veggie Burger - 7/10
  • California Veggie Burger - 10/10
  • Chili and Cornbread Whole Meal - 10/10
  • Veggie Loaf Whole Meal - 9/10
  • Tamale Pie - 9/10
  • Brown Rice and Veggie Bowl - 9/10
  • Pizza Pockets - 9/10
  • Scrambled Tofu Pocket - 10/10
  • Shepherd's Pie - 8/10
  • Non-dairy Vegetable Pot Pie - 10/10

Spinach and feta pocket!! YUM

And yes, as the previous post stated--watch the sodium in Amy's products, esp. the canned goods!

you're right, they ARE pretty bad for you..

but like most things that are unhealthy, they are sooooooo delish.

ive had the macaroni & cheese which is really rich & creamy, and that pesto tortellini that you mentioned is phenomenal for a frozen dish.

mmmmmmmmm

ive sworn it off tho lol.

gotta prioritize

Thanks for all the great responses-- and thanks for the rating system, zebulancherry!

We get meals during the week here at school, but on the weekends we're on our own, so I might try one or two this next weekend. :)

I LOVE Amy's meals- I tried the teriyaki tofu rice bowl a few days ago and it was hands-down the best frozen meal I have ever had.

The burritos and veggie burgers are really good, and the soy macaroni cheese is the best pre-made mac and cheese I have ever had (I eat dairy but the nutrition looked better on this so tried it and was amazed).

The chilli w/ cornbread was the first one I tried and that's good, though a pain to cook cause you have to take the bread out half way, wrap it, etc. If I am using frozen meals it's because I can't be bothered with that! The palak paneer is really good too. heck, they are ALL good!

My absolute fovorite out of the Amy's meals are the pizzas! The crust tastes homemade and the toppings do too. They have many different types, including regular cheese pizza, pesto, vegetable, margarhita. They're all reeeally good though and i strongly recomend them!

i really like amy's meals! i was just in a musical, and they were really helpful to heat up in the microwave and put in a plastic container before i left so i could have a halfway decent dinner! i really like their pocket sandwiches (especially the "tofu scramble" one) as well as their burgers and burritos. i reccomend you try anything you can, haha!

Amy's is my "Go To" product when I need a lunch.  It is way better than getting fast food.

The sodium is WAY better than others like the Safeway Organics like of foods - they SUCK.

I mostly eat the frozen products.  I like all the mexican dishes.  The best are:

Green Tamales.

All the enchiladas.

Indian Paneer dishes.

Spinach Feta pockets.

I did not like the rice crust pizza.

The Indian Paneer is great, and I love the enchiladas. My favorite Amy's Kitchen is the Three Cheese pizza with the cornmeal crust. Yum! But if you're looking for something a bit healthier, but still frozen, try Cedar Lane brand. Their veggie lasagna is awesome.

I always have a couple Amy's around for quick lunches.  I love the dairy free burritos, samosa wraps, spinach feta pockets, chili and cornbread, no cheese roasted veggie pizza and lots of others.

The veggie enchiladas are awesome and Amy's Texas veggie burgers rock!! They are a large size and they have BBQ sauce already in them!!! Who wouldn't love the, for 14 0 calories!

I love, love, love Amy's macaroni and cheese! Good taste comes at a price though: 410 calories.

I am a big fan of Amy's products, been using them for 10 years! They're some of the only packaged products I use. I like that they use sea salt instead of traditional salt because I've found that no matter how much sea salt I have, I never get bloated or retain water (I am always under the recommended max anyway). My favorites: the California or Texas veggie burgers, the marinara sauce, the cheese or veggie enchiladas, and the low fat minestrone soup. I never buy any other brand of pasta sauce/soup because I love Amy's so much!

Cedar Lane is also good, but I haven't had many of their products.

I like their vegetable and broccoli pot pie, indian palak paneer, asian noodle stir fry, and brown rice and vegetable bowl.  Mmmmm! I say I use one of these once or twice a week for dinner.
