do your ankles swell?
Do your feet/legs/ankles swell, if so why? What does it feel like to you? What did your doc do for you?
It could be Edema which means your heart is struggeling to cope with all it needs to do. It can be serious. My dad is in heart failure and he has Edema, he has been given water tables to help with all the excess fluid. It just makes him pee heaps.
Im a bit worried that you are saying that you have no feeling in your ankle area. This is serious, it could mean you have blood clots. Is your foot cold, does it have a normal pulse.
Please see if you can see your doctor sooner!!!!
With your heart problem I would see the Dr. ASAP. They say that the legs & the heart are connected (in a way). You very well could have a clot & that is VERY BAD NEWS--CLOTS CAN KILL--CALL YOUR DR. NOW!!!!!!!!
I am a health-care person on disability. I have had hypothyroidism & diabetes type II (controled) for several yrs.. But, it wasn't until this summer that I started to have really bad problems with pain, swelling & itching to ft, ankles & calves of my legs. I take a med most people call a (pee pill) which helps keep the swelling down, but I DO NOT have any heart involvement, like you stated you do, and that's a whole different story.
Numbness or feeling funny could be any number of things, and all that come to mind right now are bad. So Please, Please, PLEASE CALL YOUR DR. TODAY!!!!!!
But I am also going to say... make sure you are active and exercising. Also, if you are on your feet all day, make sure you elevate them at the end of day. Watch your sodium, and drink a lot of water. If you are drinking sodas, stop.
But in my Rt. leg I get swelling and it's painfull and Hot. (this is normal for me) Just last year I was sent to Whitby cardio. clinic and they did an ultrasound of both my legs, and said everything is OK.
I also have hypothyroidism. The doc at the walk-in said it may be whats going on and did blood tests but I wont know what it was till Monday 15th. But he didn't think it was that. He didn't even try to find a palse at all. I've had doc's do that B4. He just wants to to try vitimins.
I also work in the health-care field. I'm a PSW in a nursing home. And non of the nurses there could tell me why my leg/ankle would have no feeling. So when I say my ankle swells, it's nothing like you would see in the nursing home. Thank God!
My job keeps me running (right now we are in breakout.. everyone has vomited or has the runs) and I walk 3 or more times a week. Plus run/bike after my 3 boys. (LOL, but still I keep the weight on.. another story)
Thanks all for the info. I will try to drink lots more water. My salt intakes not that bad.... I just don't know :(
ive been on the pill for a year or so and my ankles and calves used to swell JUST during the week where i took the sugar pills.
my doctor said to skip the week off (sugar pills) for a while and the swelling stopped happening.
this happened to anyone??
