annoyed with threads

Quote  |  Reply
So I am getting very annoyed.  Very annoyed of clicking on some of the boards and reading about people who want to lose weight in very unhealthy ways, and are seeking advice to do so.  Please stop.  This is not a site to exchange harmful "dieting tips."

Everyday, I come to this sight for help on recovering from an ED.  I have done well so far, but these posts are not only frustrating, but very triggering.  It needs to stop.

At first, it was just a few topics here and there, but now, almost everyday the board is littered with this junk.

If you aren't here to adopt healthy eating habits and gain insight about HEALTHY ways to achieve a REASONABLE weight, please don't post.

there's a very simple cure for your annoyance and frustration.  close the window.

I'd actually recommend blocking any users that you find triggering.  They're guaranteed to post again and while the specific thread might not have anything against the CC guidelines it will have you remembering other threads which may have been triggering to you.

Also, if you see a thread that is advocating unhealthy weight loss, I encourage you to flag it so the moderators pay specific attention to it.

Basically this seems to be more a board for people to either get attention or be proud of their destructive ed ways. Any ed is nothing to be proud of. It is a sad way to live and can kill you. My best advice to people who want to recover is to focus on what they need to do to be healthy and the strong role models who do recover and have a better life.
I have been realizing this as well lately and I am currently trying to help filter these threads...it is hard though because everyone has a right and voice....maybe with kind words of wisdom these individuals will take a hint??

This is a WEIGHT LOSS SITE.  I believe it was originated to help people lose weight in a healthy way, not to support those with ED's.  Look at it from the other side of the coin...don't you think that someone with 100 pounds to lose is aggravated to hear from those same people you are talking about?  I promise they are.

How can someone with 100 pounds to lose be annoyed at someone else asking for posts that center around healthy eating habits, healthy ways to drop weight, and healthy ways to maintain that weight loss?

When people post about master cleansing diets or weird combinations of food or (my personal pet peeve) diet pills, how does that help your 100+ pound to lose person?

Bottom line is we all need to focus on HEALTHY ways to maintain/gain/lose the weight.

"Very annoyed of clicking on some of the boards and reading about people who want to lose weight in very unhealthy ways, and are seeking advice to do so."

You missed the point, Contrary.  I was stating that I am sure everyone hates those kinds of threads...everyone of every shape and size.  Re-read my reply.

i've just discovered blocking.  it's very therapeutic, but i'm afraid that the boards are going to become pretty sparse from my end.

we all have our personal irritants.  rather than expecting thousands of members to conform to our individual preferences, we have to be our own filters.  if it bugs you, don't read it.
Definitely block the users who are triggering but it is critically for you to use the "report violation" button on the top of every thread to report those threads who are encouraging unhealthy eating habits. That is explicitly against the Posting Guidelines. The moderators are on Calorie Count 24/7 but cannot possibly read every single thread (though we really do try) so having you guys point out to us threads which violate the spirit of CC is essential. However, there will always be members on the forums who are at different stages of their ED recovery or their weightloss plan so you will constantly be encountering diets which differ from yours. It is our job to figure out which are purposely promoting unhealthful living and those who just want information.

LOL!

I get tired of reading these threads too.  Every thread says the same thing and gets the same response. Those people annoy me so much. I think you should block them.
