Annyone else addicted to cheese?
I think this may be my downfall.. I LOVE cheese. My perfect meal is fresh chunky tomato marinara, Pasta (wheat is fine) and a crap- load of cheddar cheese.
I'm serious its my addiction I have a hard time trying not to eat it. Also, I crave cheese when I'm hungry. So I will just go to the fridge and cut off a hunk and eat it. I have had days where I eat nothing but cheese, cheddar, mozz & jack.
What can I do about this?

i love cheese and it is my downfall too. i lost about 20 lbs and took a trip to holland and germany where there are som egreat cheeses (and chocolates).
i'm a vegetarian, so a lot of times, eating something cheese based is my only choice, especially in a place like germany where there were sausages everywhere i turned.
when i came back from my trip, i gained about 10 lbs. :(
what i do now is i try to eat soy cheese. it isn't the same, but its less fatty and i can indulge a little more.
also, i buy the wheels of individually wrapped cheese, like the baby bells. this way i can indulge, but just a little bit.

Dharma...it was pure chance. Before I met him he worked a regular factory job, got laid off, moved out of Wisconsin. We got together and he had a chance to work in a cheese factory in California, he went for it and now were back in Wisconsin with cheese secrets from both states now. oops... I think the Wisconsin Cheese secret police are here now. I've got to run and hide.

I am also a cheese addict. I can't help but eat it everyday...I always tell myself it's good cause of the Calcium. CHEESE!!!
Cheesemaker. That is the coolest job. I get excited if either my husband or I get a free pen from work. And prizewinning cheese too. Can you hook me up?
I can't go a whole day without cheese. Cheddar (extra sharp, white) is my favorite. I try to limit myself, but it's hard.
And, 2%, no way! It just isn't the same. I would much rather have half as much of the real thing. ;) I can do the Laughing Cow flavored types, but most of the reduced-fat cheeses just don't cut it.
The only cheeses I can avoid are the blue varieties. Other than that, the stronger flavored, the better. Feta is my friend... :)

I love cheese too!!!
Cabot makes a 50% and a 75 % reduced fat chedar cheese.
I have never had laughing cow but I was surprised by how good both of these brands tasted.
If you measure out or wheigh your serving propperly it really can be worked into a healthy diet plan.

Hey..I love cheese too....
I was wondering if you are involved in any type of exercise.
I can eat any type of cheese at any time of the day... but I control myself. I avoid being hungry so I don't crave it.
I use fat free Mozarella Chesse on my salad and that sustains me until the next day.

ok so I am not the only one....last night (11pm)..I got this craving....so I got up...melted a 1/4 shredded cheddar/jack..and put that on a piece of bread...sorta a ghetto grilled cheese!!! and it was so gooey and cheesy and all kinds of bad for me...but I went to sleep with a smile on my face...and water weight this morning on the scale...hmmmmmm oh well...one day I will get the hang of being healthy
I LOVE CHEESE TOO...I LOVE COLBY, CHEDDAR, AND SWISS...
Want to satisfy that craving for cheese with fewer calories? Try eating a small amount of 6 year old cheese. It will give you the intense taste you are craving without eating a lot of it.
I live for cheese - always have. As a teen my favorite snack was to dump a cup of shredded colby sharp cheddar in to a Cup O Noodles. You can probably imagine how many goo-covered forks made it into the dishwasher and turned to cement (much to my dad's chagrin).
Ah, "behold the power of cheese"! I can say "amen" to that one. My downfall is sharp cheedar and red wine.
I find that the light 2% cheese is better than the fat free stuff. The fat free is awful. Tastes bad and doesn't melt. At least it is better than nothing. I eat it everyday as a morning snack. I think it helps to stablize the blood sugar so that I don't end up eating a truck load of carbs. High carb fat free foods don't have any staying power.
Good luck, and let me know if you learn any new tips.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! I L-O-V-E cheese. I don't know which one I love more Bread or Cheese. Actually I think they're about the same. Most things I like my cheese on are carbs/starches which is mostly breads and pastas.
I'm slowly trying to do better by going with the 2% -- maybe one day I'll make it down to the fat free...
If anyone has any tips on how I can enjoy these "the healthy way" let me know. :-)

There used to be a radio commercial or something where somone asks the question
"What is life without cheese?"
The answer comes back
"LONGER!"

Good strong cheese is Romano or Parmesan.. sprinkle some on a sliced apple!! OMG soo good!
I used to like it but I've become intolerant to large amounts of fat. CHeese is the worst culprit. But I've found low-fat cottage cheese, tho not a full replacement, works well on pizzas, and spread on crackers if need be.
I ADORE laughing cow swiss wedges and babybels, too. they're tasty, and not many calories. I use the swiss wedges on sandwhiches for a spread. 35 calories a piece and they add so much flavor.
SALT SALT SALT... thats what my guess is about why so many of us are cheese addicts. Yummy stuff.
to compensate for having to reduce back on cheese I have gone with the option of using the really taste filled options. Parmesan is a staple food on my house. If I have to have less, then I still want to TASTE my CHEESE. I seriously miss going to the fridge and grabbing out a 2 X 4 X 4" hunk of cheese and just eating it alone...
well not entirely alone. A hunk of cheese goes great with pepsi. Ahh the irony ~ Lost Artist

WOWZA!!! This is a POPULAR post! Don't get me wrong -- I LIKE it but I could EASILY live without it. I have been putting a sprinkle of Feta on my salads and on cooked spinach and it's divine. It actually causes me to use less dressing and I don't use much as it is.
I'm not a big fan of pasta either. I need to eat food that has "moxy" -- that is, texture and crunch. My teeth and mouth need to WORK. I don't like stuff that slides down real easy. It's TOO easy. :)
