am i anorexic?

Quote  |  Reply
well, i am becoming really confused and have researched some "signs and signals" of the edbut am not sure if i am over-thinking this whole thing or am just not able to recognize that there is a problem, so if oyu could help that woul be great! well, here is a bit about myself...... well starting a little more than a year ago, i am not too sure when it actually began, i found myself weighing myself more frequently, and looking at nutrition labels and mostly the calories in everything i ate that had a label, and look at my body and find many imperfections, however i know that everyone has things that they want to change about their body whether it be distinct or something small. also, i will at times decide that counting calories and watching what i eat is not enough and really go on a hard-core diet/ "fast" i guess you could call it where i eat as little as possible. i am constantly tired but that could be a result of the three hour sessions of field hockey that i have twice a day for the past two weeks! i have just recently decided to start a journal with everything i eat, my wiehgt at various points in the day(i weigh myself everytime i eat or pass the bathroom), and try and compensate burning calories in our gym (rite in the basement), but other days i will eat whatever i want like junk food (i feel guilty tho) and will feel like i would like to burn off a few calories but not enought to "compulsively exersize" adn think like, "oh well i have field hockey on monday, ill burn it off then!", and skip some meals and just have a few grapes instead and then plan to have a regular meal at like dinner with the whole family.

I am really confused, and could really use some guidance, sorry this was so long, but if your reading this, thank you for spending the time to help me figure this out!

Usually Anorexia is defined as being below and refusing to maintain 85% of your expected body weight.

What you are describing is certainly abnormal, and you might want to consider counseling.

We can offer you some information here

There are many articles on this Expert's blog, so you should be able to find the information you seek.

I'm sorry I don't have the knowledge to go into detail.  You'll get more from those articles.

We cannot give psychological evaluations online.  Seek a professional.
At a minimum, consult a dietician.  You have some unhealthy eating behaviours and your constant weighing is a bit unusual.  Talk to your parents or a school counselor and see what suggestions they have for you.  You don't want to continue on a path that you recognize as not good for you.

((((Hugs))))

I wish you health and wellness.  Our bodies are a blessing.  I wish I hadnt been so rough on mine as a teenager.  Nutrition is the key.

if you were truely anorexic, you would probably know. It is a mental illness, not just a bunch of deits, look into it though, look for a professional.
