You know, I'm not really sure... I wonder about that often..

I know my calorie counter seems to be high, but it measures every time I hit an arrow, not necessarily hit the correct arrow at the correct time.... I think DDR MAX 2 only counted hitting the correct arrow at the right time, and thus was low..

*shrug*
I am glad that it counts everytime I hit a button (I hit alot of wrong ones when I get into the wrong mode) but still...  I am up to easy on a few of the songs!!  yay me but most of the songs easy makes me STOP and stare at the screen and wonder how to do that!
Wait til you see ME play, dove! >:D *g* I used to think I sucked,
than I started playing Standard and NOW I feel like I'm good! Not
great, not doing Heavy, but good! :D
I would stare at you in wonder if I watched you right now.. but every time I play I get a little better!!  (Some of thoes songs are dang catchy!)  I might get the DDR max just for some new variety of music!
Hehehehe.. you are so hooked! ;)
No offense, I think it's a bit too much. I work a lot harder at running or jogging, and seem to burn less calories on the counters comparatively.

Also, it seems to register a step sometimes when I haven't even picked up my foot.

so....don't rely on it too much. : P
I wouldn't rely on the exact number, but a relative number doesn't hurt.. if I KNOW I'm working hard enough to huff and puff at the end, I assume I'm doing good cardio work. If I feel like I'm half-bored because the song is too slow, I may be burning some calories from just movies, but I'd be better off stepping it up as I Can...

Or remember, like interval training, some combination of slow and fast songs MAY be best!
The DDRing for me is extra.  I have already been to the gym and just want a few more calories to burn.  If it says 200 I log 150 and so on so I don't think THAT is too outta wack!  But some of those are HARD!!!  OK for me but I suck!
wear your hrm and compare...

i think my kids (okay and me when nobody is watching) would love this ddr thing, but what beside the mat do we need? and is there a kids version or is it just made for everybody?
I would say that it's a video game, meljo, and thus kid-friendly.. none of the songs are rude or sexual.. they are basically just dance songs and remixes of popular songs on the radio.

You need a game system (PS2, PS2, GameCube, etc.) and a Pad and a game.. that's it! :)
thanks hk... we don't have any parts of the whole, but maybe we ought to start collecting for christmas... so, what's better ps, ps2, gamecube, or etc? we'd have to do all of this via on-line shopping, so i guess i better start investingating, it'd be nice to get it on-time!
Depends on your budget.. Playstations will be cheaper, because they're older. Also, because they're older, finding the pad and game MAY be harder.

I have a playstation 2 and they've really gone down in price. Lots of good DDR games out for Playstation 2.

I don't know much about the GameCube. SOrry :)

Actually, if you have a PC, there's a similair game, called.. Pump It Up! I believe.. out for PC.. you'd need to buy the game (online, I Believe) and a pad, but you could play on your PC
okay, thanks, that gives me a decent jumping off point!
I got my boyfriend a Playstation 2 last year for Christmas and he FLIPPED!  The playstation 3 is supposed to come out soon so when that happens I bet the 2 will go down in price even more!
P.S. you can play DVD's on the Playstation 2...  Just FYI
