Not another 'should I be eating..'
I know everyone is tired of reading these posts where people ask 'am i eating enough'.. but I seriously need some feedback from some of the very knowledgeable people on this forum!
Here are my stats:
Female age 30
current weight 201.5
height 5'10"
goal weight 190 (just a start, I have a dream weight of 155, but I wanna take baby steps)
When I first started CC I filled out the account settings and CC had me eating 1400 calories a day and burning 2100 cal a day. I did that for a few weeks and saw some incremental results in the scale. However, I was finding it hard to stick to the 1400 cal a day (was VERY hungry). I set the my activity level to sedentary, b/c I don't exercise outside of taking care of my 11 month old and working at night.
After reading some threads, I noticed some people upping their calories and seeing a difference. So I decided to change my activity level to Light and I used a link one poster had recommended to someone to get my RMR, which turned out to be 1718. So I changed my profile to reflect the 1718 RMR. I tend to stay in the 1800-1900 cal a day range, which is wayy over my RMR, I know.
Here's my question.. does this sound right to you for my height and current weight?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading my long post!
That all depends on your exercise regimen. How many calories are you burning through activity?
I really don't have an exercise regimen.. my schedule at the moment doesn't allow for a lot of free time to myself to exercise, so I tend to try to just move more during the day.. like parking farther away, taking stairs, trying to walk more at work. That's why I set my activity level to Sedentary at first, because I wasn't sure if what I'm doing during the day actually counts as really 'burning' calories like some who do cardio and lift weights. I thought maybe setting it to light activity would maybe account for some of my daily activities that I do (like taking care of my child, chores, etc).. ?? Not really sure if that's accurate though.. that's why I'm finally here posting, instead of doing my normal lurking in the forums ;)
I am only 5'8", and I have been losing steadily on about 1800 calories a day. Now, I started a lot higher weight than you, and am still higher, but I am still losing steadily on this intake after having lost 70 pounds.
My trick has been to gradually increase my activity from "pretty sedentary" to "pretty active" while keeping my calorie intake the same.
Exercise doesn't have to be continuous, it can be incorporated into your real life if you think creatively, as you have been doing. I found wearing a pedometer really helps me see how active I really am, and motivating to get me moving on lazy days. You might consider getting a pedometer so you can better evaluate your own activity level. Good luck!
dkenworthy, I'm going to try the pedometer trick.. I think that would give me a better gauge as to how much I'm moving (or little ;) thanks for the help!
Can you recommend a workout for sore muscles?
