Another 10-15lbs group
Hi, I would like to get in shape for the summer...I am currently in college and have gained a bit more weight than I would have liked to:) I am 5'3 and weigh 143lbs...would love to go down to 125lbs or so over the course of the next few months and would love to hear from anyone else with the same situation?
I could certainly do with some motivation...someone to chat to when Im contemplating a chocolate binge:)
I'm not looking forward to the weigh in this week. Yesterday was my bday. (they come faster and faster the older you get.) Needless to say, I ate very well (NOT) and had more wine than I should have. Oh well, today is another day.
Happy Birthday Hasta
- Hope you had a wonderful day... despite them coming faster and faster, let me reassure you that one day a year it's not only okay to go way overboard...it's required!!! see you tomorrow (for my most feared weigh in yet!)
Happy Birthday Hasta!!
I agree with snehvide, that is the one day you have to splurge! Today is another day. and so is tomorrow.
hope everyone's thursday is going well!

Happy Birthday Hasta!
OK, It pains me to write-off the entire past month as I see I am right where I started when I joined this thread.
132. Getting emotional over this is not the answer right?
Here's the deal. My best top-weight is 125lbs. My happy weight is about 120/121. That's not really all that far away.
My struggle seems currently to revolve around social situations. One social night, off-sets my week long deficit. This would be fine if I were maintaining but well, obviously the case right now. I feel in control and out of control all at the same time. And, I don't want my weight and all things related to control my every last thought, breath and calorie. There has to be some way...
Hi everyone!
Sounds like some of us are struggling. I swear it has been these last 7-10 pounds that are the hardest to go. I barely tried years ago (there were life changes however) and I lost 20 pounds...
But now is the time!! I am at 139.5 this week which is the same as last week, but I am pumped to be below 140. Now if I could stay there and get to 135 I would be happy. If I could get to 135 I would maybe try for 131, but I am not pushing that yet.
Alright, challenge for everyone, lets have a clean weekend. I find weekends are my hardest time. So if everyone made a goal for the weekend it will jumpstart a good next week. Mine is to watch how much beer I drink, which means counting their calories and stopping when I have had enough (2-3 beers) What is your goal (exercising, eating less, etc)?
renekane-I hear how it is emotional, I will sometimes stop and say why do I have to count every calorie and always worry about it. I think sometimes you need a meal or a day even to say I am not going to count but just listen to my body. Meaning eat until I am full. You may find you eat just enough to maintain anyway. I know I need more days like that...
I hope everyone has a good weekend
Me-147.5 :(
I had a bad sleepless week. Maybe, that's why I gained 2 lbs of the 3 lbs that I lost.
Man are we all living in a parallel universe or what???? I'm singing the same song, different verse too. I'm 139.8. -.2 from when I left for my vacation/family reunion. All & all not bad, but crap. In the 14 wks we've been doing this, I'm down only 3.2 lbs. My lowest weight was on wk4 at 137.4.
My frustration is that with all this logging & tracking, my weight has essentially just hovered & swung back & forth, mostly between 142 & 140. Seems like a hell of a lot of work and worry for that much progress. On the positive side, no major gain either. If I was on maintenance, I'd be doing swell.
Snehvide - I would love to be at your current weight. We're the same height. 128 was my normal, easy-to-maintain weight up to about 2 yrs ago. At that time I wasn't happy with it either. I wanted to be 115 or less. Will we ever be happy??? Are you able to keep up the exercise with your little one being back home with you?
Smader - I made a couple of little goals for myself yesterday (and I stuck to them for my first day
). My goals for the remaining days of August are to get 330 total minutes of exercise by the EOM and to limit beer or wine to a max. of 10 total through EOM. That may sound like a lot to some, but believe me a couple of days on the weekend (and with football starting up) could blow that out of the water for me. The minutes of exercise and the 10 drinks can be spread however I'd like over the last 11 days of August. What a mind game, huh?
Rishiesmom- what's bothering you? anything we can do to support you?
Renekane - Social situations are tough. One bit of advise that I should follow more than I do: Eat b4 you go. Arrive at the social gathering early. Make sure to greet everyone as early as possible upon arriving (so they'll know you were there). The idea is that as people start drinking, they may not remember how long you stayed (or if you even came! ha, ha). Then you can leave earlier than normal and limit your exposure to the temptations.
Go Cowboys!
hasta-I am a Packers fan by association, my husband watches every week. I also like watching Badgers football (the UW team). I hear ya that it really screws up the whole dieting thing. Tailgating and viewing parties typically involve beer, taco dip, doritos, creamy dips and sweets, not exactly calorie-free foods! So I have to extra diligent!! Not sure if the cowboys and packers play this year, should be interesting! :)
Sounds like some great goals!!
Hi everyone,
After a fun (I have to admit maintainence weekend) I want to propose a challenge! Try a new type of exercise this week. Either something you haven't done in a long time or something new altogether. I think I may try rollerblading either tonight or tomorrow night. I can't even remember the last time I used them.
Does anyone else have something they haven't done for awhile?
missed the friday check in again....was super busy getting ready for my daughter's bday party on sat. it was crazy! 9 screaming kids at my house. what was i thinking??? oh and a pop-in with the inlaws on friday didn't help.
had some cake and ice cream...again! she's had like 4 parties already. 143.2 so not happy about it but could be worse. oh and we are leaving thurs to go camping for the weekend so i'll try to either check in early or back on tues, when school starts and i have a minute!!!
I've been missing the Friday check ins. Been crazy at work and haven't been able to get on, on the weekends. At least, I bumped into my sister in law this weekend and she called me skinny!!!!!!! That makes me happy. I was at 135 this Friday....but this weekend, I've just been carbing out...I don't know why until I checked my calender. I should be getting my TOM this week.....got no self control damn it!!!!!!!
I am ok. Thanks, Hasta! I think I am just a bit homesick. I haven't been watching what I eat too seriously this week, so the weigh-in on friday maybe a shocker. Anyways, this is a passing phase.
I am trying to get back on my exercising "horse".
smader - i'm thinking of biking with a small group of folks from wk that have just begun going at lunch for 30 minutes. We work in a hilly area so it w/b challenging for me since my bike has collected dust sitting in the garage over the summer.
very happy to hear from balehead and bettyboop. missed you guys!
Hey guys, I've been so out of it lately.... This week, I've been working out like a crazy women...I've been pulling twice a days at the gym. Circuit/Spin class in the mornings then cardio/running in the afternoons. Well, I did that the past two days. This morning I did an hour on the elliptical. This afternoon, I'll probably hit the pavement with my running partners. Crazy I know....but Damnit, something needs to give...like my weight!!!!
checking in early, we're heading out for the weekend. 143.2 this am. hope all had a good week and enjoy your long weekend!
hi! I'm new... am I still allowed to join?
I gained about 10 pounds this summer, and now I'm trying to lose 10-15 pounds. I'm currently 135 and 5'4".
Hey guys! Balehead, nice to see your pic after all these weeks.
Bettyboop, you're a maniac! Are you listening to the song from Flashdance when your working out?
You should be!
Mem18, welcome. I'll add you to the chart on page 2 and log your stats as of this week. Weigh ins are on Fridays.
I took a peek at my weight this a.m. and had one of those disappointments where you think you're going to show progress and have stayed the same. May tomorrow's official weight will show what i'm looking for.
Morning!
Just wanted to check-in. Here it is:
130.2
Hi everyone! Here's my first check-in!
