Hi, I would like to get in shape for the summer...I am currently in college and have gained a bit more weight than I would have liked to:) I am 5'3 and weigh 143lbs...would love to go down to 125lbs or so over the course of the next few months and would love to hear from anyone else with the same situation?

I could certainly do with some motivation...someone to chat to when Im contemplating a chocolate binge:)

I had an incredibly bad weekend regarding indulgence and food/alcohol.  Back on the wagon!  Just need a bit of balance.  This crappy weather is creating this internal need to comfort myself.  Will need to find an alternative for comfort from food:)

Hello ladies,

It's time for the weekly weigh in again - I'm down to 127.2. My chart is beginning to look a lot like the mouth of a crocodile with all the ups and downs of this weight loss...

renekane, I hope you find the holy grail when it comes to the alternative to comfortfood - and when you do, please do share :-)

Balehead; although you and your family are ill ( I hope you all feel better soon), I would love to see you active in this group still - not for you to loose weight, but for us to have your company...

Have a nice weekend all (I'm actually going out for drinks and dancing tonight....yeahhh!)

Hi all!  Happy Friday.  I'm excited to report that I'm down another smidgen... (.4) for a weigh in of 139!  Still cutting all alcohol, no exercise and eating junk food for snacks.  I'm also smack dab in the middle of my cycle.  Needless to say I'm happy and wish I could have seen the results w/o my monthly visitor weighing in. (no pun intendedWink).  This weekend I plan to pick up the excercise again and continue that through next week.  Hope you all have a good weigh in to.

Great going snehvide!  I totally get the alligator.  Mine looks the same way.

Hi everyone!  I am glad it is Friday and the weekend here is supposed to be beautiful.  I am just about where I have been, 139.  No complaining though because I am finally under 140 and that is a big step for me.  I guess the whole weight loss thing takes longer than expected.  It goes up and down for me too.

I am happy to see the posts so far and look forward to reading everyone's weigh in.  Snehvide-sounds like you have a fun night planned!  I am going to have dinner with my parents tonight, and tomorrow watch the Badgers hopefully win a game.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

Ladies..I cheated a bit this morning and went on the scale again -mostly to see if I was up much after my Friday night out...and ..with the end of my period, I'm actually down to 125.7!!!! This is an almost magical feeling and it motivated me to go to the gym to work out (did spinning for the first time, and OMG - thought I would fall off the bike - with my feet still in the clamps - and die...) so...what I wanted to say, is that I'm back in the game again, and have decided to give myself little goals along the way - next goal is 123.5... And judging from Smader and Hasta, you are also doing well - so glad to hear that :-)

Grey's anatomy's on - wanna go do drool a bit...catch you later

Wow snehvide!  Great going.  I took a peak this morning too (for the same reasons). I was down from last friday's 139 to 138.2.  Woooo.  I  hope it holds!!! cross fingers X

Nice work ladies!  I took a sneak peak this morning as well and I am still under 140 (138.5)  so I am going to try to be good today so I see good numbers tomorrow.

snehvide-I hope you had fun at spinning!?  It is tough the first few times, I go to the Y and spin and enjoy the music (and the butt kicking :)

Hope everyone has a nice thursday.  It is starting to get cool here (mid-50s for a high today) but it is sunny so I am hoping to go for a run after work today.  I very much like Fall and hope to have some nice weather.  Laughing

Laughing  Yep, I'm beaming!  136.6!!!!! WooooHoooooo! Cartwheel, cartwheel.  You wouldn't believe how many times I stepped on the scale to verify and reverify.  This is the lowest I've hit all year.  Thanks for the help ladies.  Looking forward to hearing from you guys today. Happy Friday.

Hi everyone,

Great work hasta!!  You are doing awesome!  It is always nice to reach new numbers.

I am at 138, holding steady.  It is time to kick it into high gear to break into 136ish world.  Then closer to the goal of 135.  I think I am going to use the last session at the YMCA from Nov-Dec to really mean business and take another spinning class.  My goal is to be down a pants size and buy some new pants to wear for all of the Christmas running around.

The weekend is here, time to buckle down and not gain back all that I have lost with beer and food!

Happy Friday everyone  Smile

Hasta, that's amazing - congratulations :-)

Smader, I don't know if I'll actually venture into one of those spinning classes again, but seeing how you're both spinning and running, I guess there really isn't a legitimate excuse for me not to.

Funny how that magic number was magical - FOR A DAY! then the devil hit me, and I started eating junk as if it were the last junk food on the planet - and since it was fall break and i had my daughter with me, i couldn't excercise  - so (drumroll, here is my excuse:) I didn't weigh in on Friday Embarassed...have signed up for excercise classes all week (twice on wednesday), so I'll weigh in again on friday..promise :-)

Happy hump day everyone!  I hope you all are having a good week.  My weight has been doing well this week, although now I have a cold.  So I am trying to maintain as I don't have the energy to work out right now.

Looking forward to Friday!  I am hoping for a good weigh in and it is the first home Badger Hockey game, which is always a fun time!

Happy Friday everyone!!

My weight is way down this week.  I am at 135.5, I had to step on the scale 4 times to confirm it!  I bragged to my husband and he gave me a dose of reality.  "It's because you haven't been eating"  He is right, my cold has really decreased my appetite.  But I still thought I wouldn't lose as I have not exercised in 3 days....

ohwell.  It has been nice sitting on the couch and watching movies, last night I watched Back to the future and it is still awesome after all these years!

I hope everyone has a good weekend

hahaha Smader - you can always count on husbands for reality checks.... but - what is also part of reality, is that you really lost a lot of weight - so a big congratulations is in order...well done :-)

Back to the future - i love that movie!

my weigh in is a day late - was superbusy yesterday, but nothing much to report - still at 127.2 (which actually might be a bit up?)

still no report from Hasta? hopefully she's busy celebrating a good week.

have a great one, ladies

Here I am....  I went up a pound to 137.8.  Still it's continued progess=having stayed below the 140's for a few wks now.   I mentioned to smader, that I got so mad at my scale b/c the first time I stepped on it, it read 135 ish.  But, since I don't accept the # until it has appeared 3 times,  here I am at 137.8. My current rountine is still pretty lame, no alcohol and no exercise.

Do you guys have the same problem with your scale?  Mine fluctuates a lot.  Usually its only within .2 - .4 lbs.  I'm so glad to hear from you guys.  It's a beautiful weekend here.  Big football game coming up soon.  Did you know my Longhorns are #1 right now?  Snehvide, I'd definately understand if you weren't aware of that.  Talk to you guys soon.

aha, longhorns....mmm, right...yes, number one...ahaaa :-)

My scale is so unpredictable as well, and i think it's funny how i tend to accept the high number as the right one, instead of trusting the lower weight... but i guess it's easier to focus on the negative and tell myself i'm being realistic...basically i just think scales are a thing invented by someone really really mean...I'm almost addicted to mine these days (having christmas in jerusalem as a goal for wanting to look wawaweewa!!)

hasta, what's up with calling the routine lame? at least you aren't topping 140... and living without alcohol sounds to me like something that, at least for me, would require a great deal of stamina ;-)

see you on friday - 'til then, have a great few days

Hi all,

Well the scale has not been my friend this week.  I think the not working out for 7 days and having a head cold has caught up to me with weight.  I think it is so amazing that it takes weeks of hard work to see a couple of pounds go down on the scale, but 1 week of not watching and it shoots back up 5 pounds....

Hasta-My scale does fluctuate, but it is not as exact as yours is, Mine only reads between .0 and 0.5, so I only know my weight as say 140 or 139.5.  I am glad your team is doing so well.  The badgers have really stunk this season.

What does everyone think of an intensive 8 week effort to get ready for Christmas?  It is exactly 8 weeks from today.  I know that I need some extra motivation and I don't want to have another new year where I have to start over again!  I would be willing to come up with some Monday Challenges to revive the motivation each week.

What do you think?

Not really looking forward to the weigh in tomorrow, but I need to keep me honest!

Hello,

I am new to this website. I am very much looking forward it loosing 8 or 9 pounds at least by February before my VC but if I can make it before 12/25 that would be even better. I was thinking of purchasing Power 90 videos since it is getting to cold to run outside in the early morning.  Let me know what you decide to do as your routine.

And about the scale. Your weight may very because you may have some water retention or your digestive track might not be empty when you weighed so that why a variation from 1 day to another doesn't count. I wouldn't torture myself. Check again in 7 days, don't be tempted to cheat before then.

MSmile

welcome ergmg glad you're here.

Guess what? I'm at 134 today!!!! flip, flip, cartwheel.

I just can't believe it.  The jeans are feeling looser, the tummy roll that appears when I'm sitting has definately gotten smaller, and my rings are slipping around a little bit on my fingers.  This is just unbelievable.  I sure credit you guys for helping me week after week.  Smader, I'll be looking out for your challenge.  I'm up for it.

Look forward to hearing from you guys.

Hello everyone!

ergmg Welcome!  We weigh in on Fridays and Hasta updates it on page 2 of the thread.

Hasta-Congrats that is so great!  Isn't wonderful to not only have the number on the scale, but also feel better about yourself.  Can't wait to see more success  :)

This week, my weight is up, which I expected.  I was sick and did not exercise all week.  My cold is gone now and I went to the gym yesterday and today so I am ready for some loss again!

On Monday I will post the challenge for week 1  Smile

Week 1 Challenge

This week I thought we could start with more of a brainy challenge.

What exactly is your goal for the Holiday period, 8 weeks from now.  The idea is to make it something realistic but also a challenge and would require a change in behavior.

My goal is to reach and stay at under 135.  I would also like to buy a new pair of size 6 pants to see family and friends (currently I am size 8).

What are your goals?
