Another "need help with weight loss person"!!

Quote  |  Reply

Old timer on CC here but have not posted much!! I need help fellow educated CC's!!

I'm 5'6 and weigh 160lbs. My BMI is 25.8. So I am considered overweight but if you see me you wouldnt say that. Most of my weight is of course belly fat. I got married 6 months ago and gained about 20lbs in a year. So I need to get it back off!!

Here is my problem. I wonder if I am geing to hard on myself or if I am doing something wrong!! February 9th I started working out!! My diet has been good before that but I really set my goals on that day. When I weighed on February 11th (2 Wednesdays ago) I was 161.6. I have been eating 1500-1600 calories a day with my ratio of proteins, carbs, etc. I've been on here long enough to know how much to eat.Laughing For the past 2 weeks I have been working out constantly resting only 2 days a week. I do 40mins of strength training with 20 mins cardio one day then another day I will just do like 60-90mins of straight cardio and then another day I would rest, etc.

Today I weigh myself excatly 2 weeks from Feb 11th, and I am 161.4. WTF?? I lost 0.2lbs. Am I missing something here?? I don't eat after 7pm, I don't drink any fruit juices or soda. I drink about a gallon of water a day.

I DO notice my belly fat decreasing but not tremendously!! Am I being to hard on myself?? I'm getting a bit fustrated.

HELP????

EDIT - My BMR is confusing me. Do I enter light activity or moderate activity? This is confusing me as well. I am working out 5 days a week burning about 400-500 calories a day at the gym!!

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me!!

I'd give it another two weeks before judging.  You could have just struck an unkind moment to weigh in.

I hope that is what it is. Thanks for the tip!!

Anymore tips anyone??

I am in the same boat, actually.  I'd suggest getting a tap measure and measuring inches lost instead - it's a much better indicator of fat lost than weight is.

a healthy LIFE is pretty long, way longer than two weeks. the less you have to lose, the slower the weight-loss will be, so the fact that you are only a few pounds overweight means you might not lose 1 or 2 lbs a week, but less. over time, you'll get there.

you are already seeing results after only two weeks, this should be encouraging to you.

You just started exercising.  When you start exercising, your muscles grow more quickly than when you have done it for a while and they also retain a bunch of water.  Not a huge amount, but I know from experience that a hard workout can cause me to gain as much as two pounds.  Two pounds is all you can realistically expect to have lost in two weeks.  It could be that the extra water is just masking the fat loss.  Also, seeing any change in belly fat in two weeks should be cause to celebrate.  It takes a long time to get rid of that stuff.

I was in the same boat. Trust me, this will pass. Your body needs time to adjust. I'm also confused with the whole activity thing. I've just recently put myself as sedentary and I track all my activtiy seperatley. You need to measure yourself. Do not go by what the scale says alone. Scales are evil little devices but are a necessary evil in the overall picture. Watch your sodium intake, up your fibre, and keep up with the water. You'll see. Things will start moving. Don't be hard on yourself. It doesn't do you any good. :)

Take your measurements! That is really more important than what the fickle scale says, or so I keep telling myself:o)
