Another question on clean eating..

Quote  |  Reply

Does this mean no more Kashi? Their crunch bars do have a boatload of ingredients. I really want to try clean eating, but I guess I'm still unsure of whats good and whats not okay. I feel like i could totally eat clean since goleans and maybe yoplait are the only packaged things I eat. okay and fudgsicles. :)

Well everything in moderation, so if that is all you are eating that is processed, you are fine!  I think most people consider food to be processed/unclean if it has more than 5 ingredients and/or chemical names in the ingredient list that you don't recognize.

My one downfall is the South Beach bars.  They have so many good qualities, despite being processed!!

Kashi is fine because it's minimally processed, contains whole grains and cane sugar.

thanks for your replies! you guys made me feel better because kashi makes me smile. i have never tried the south beach bars but they look verrry tasty from the box!

While I believe clean eating to be eating things that do not come in packages - I know to some that is not a reasonable task to tackle - kashi is probably one of the better cereals to consume if you have to have cereal at all (plain oatmeal is what is mostly boasted in the clean eating diet) - The reason why cereal is not exactly a "clean eating" food is because most have high fructose corn syrup or some derivative in their ingredients and this is probably the WORST additive in the entire world - if you want to get "fat" and very UNHEALTHY eat up, but if you want to feel good, be lean, trim, slim & a "fighting machine" I would steer as far away from that ingredient as POSSIBLE! Luckily, Kashi does not have high-fructose corn syrup in their ingredients but they do contain a lot of sugar so if you CAN mix Kashi with Fiber One which has NO sugar & 14 grams of fiber per serving!!!

Fiber One also has aspartame in it, which is very bad for you.

AND Fibre One has corn syrup/HF corn syrup too. Unless you're in Canada!

SB bars are super sweet because they contain high maltose corn syrup. I didn't really like them.

Kashi is sweetened with cane sugar, which is better for you and more natural. They also use whole grains. If you want to include cereal in a clean eating diet, you should buy it from an organic/natural foods store.
Hahah. Giasbash makes me laugh... more than occasionally.

I'd say Kashi is okay. No artifical flavors or colors, and no corn syrup or sugar alcohols either. Just enjoy life; you don't have to worry about "eating clean" as long as you stick to natural foods.

FINE DONT EAT FIBER ONE! - UGH - JUST GO ON YOUR MERRY WAY AND EAT SOME KASHI - IF YOU READ OXYGEN MAGAZINE I DO BELIEVE THEY SAY YOU CAN EAT IT - BUT THEY PREFER OATMEAL - SPECIFICALLY OATMEAL PANCAKES!

*WOAH - sorry if i totally sounded... you know... bitc*y - I am completely stressed (finals week baby) but at the same time I really want to give my 2 cents to those I believe I can help!

Eat what you want. Honestly, the best part about a diet is that you find ways to eat the foods you want. What's the point of "eating clean" if you are depriving yourself of something? You yourself have to choose which is more important: the satisfaction you will get from a Kashi crunch bar, or denying something you want because of an ingredient.

That wasn't meant to sound nasty, I'm sincere about what I said. :)
lol... Oxygen magazine. I read that at the gym once and some girl was talking about "super clean eating" where you only eat chicken, broccoli and like 4 other foods.
