Another Tall Club- 5'9" + 50-70 pounds to lose (Now ANY amount to lose)
Hello all
I know there are already a few tall clubs going out there, but are already quite established, so I decided to start a fresh one!
Just going to edit the opening post for the Middle of 2009! ![]()
Im a 25 year old female, my stats are:
Height: 6 Foot 1
SW: 330
CW: 195
GW:175-180
Starting BMI: 44
Current BMI: 25.6
If there is anyone out there who has similar stats/targets please feel to use this group to rant, share losses and sucess stories. This group was originally for people with 50-70 to lose but I have adjusted it as everyone is doing so well!!! Now anyone tall with weight to lose can join![]()
MrsD - I've said it before and I'll say it again: I LOVE YOUR FOOD POSTS! I'm going to have to figure out a crunch/stretch/corebuilding routine that doesn't invovle over extending my knee. My gym does free classes so maybe I'll hit one of those up. Yoga or pilates?
Sharpie - we can so do this. My friends and I are having dinner tonight and Lizzie says "we have to let Dawn pick the restuaraunt because she wants to lose 20lbs by NYE". The more we share what we're doing with our loved ones the more they will support us. As far as the wedding, I agree. I have until May to be completely toned and ready for it. If I'm a dress size 12 now MAYBE I could be a 10 by then?!?!
Me - time to put up or shut up. I can't work out and am going to have to see a doctor about my knee. That means I have no choice but to eat better, much better. Science says you can lose weight by reducing calories regardless of exercise which means I CAN DO THIS.
I hope yall have a lovely Friday and a splendid weekend.
Fell hard off the wagon, but I'm climbing back on! Stupid me. Got into the candy, skipped dinner and woke up with a small hang-over. Remember why I quit. Gained, naturally, from stupidity.
The office is painted, a warm "Caramel Sundae", which I didn't think I'd like at first, but once the whole room was painted, it is very, very nice! Window trim will be a bright white and it'll Pop! Going to do some major sorting, donating and tossing of all the things that came out of this room. Want a pristine, minamalist look. Moving the bookshelves and re-configuring the furniture. Kind of exciting to have a whole new look to the room I spend so much time in!
Skipped a workout yesterday to help empty the office, but going to do one this morning! Gotta get back on track and avoid that evil ALCOHOL!
Burned the most calories yet on the Weslo, 640 calories in 30 minutes! Wahoo! Butt's dead, but I feel friggin' great! Was watching "The Taking of Pelham 123" while I worked on-pretty good movie, got it "On Demand". I'll finish it later. Off to do a stretch and exercise!
I'm 5'9" and hoping to lose about 60lbs. I have a large frame, but am hoping to get to a size 8 or 10.
Any ladies here wear a size 8 or 10 that are about the same height? I'm curious to how much you guys weigh to see if my goal is on track :)

I'm 5' 9 3/4"....last time I was a size 8, I weighed 149 lbs.
Weighed in @ 197.2, down a tad. Did 20 minutes cardio, 409 calories. Stretched and exercised. So funky I can't stand myself! Shower, long thorough shower!
Making Chicken Parmesan with Mozzarella tonight and linguine, garlic bread. Wrote a couple of recipes last night, one for a lightened Gingerbread. Might have to make that today! But, I still have Apple Pies to make-procrastinating, I know, I know.
Off to the shower!
Curses! My husband made his chili-cheese dip with Tortilla chips, and fixed up a batch of Chicken & Vegetable potstickers for the football game on TV! Of course, I got into them! Dang! Trying to stay away from the guys and the goodies!
Blah! Tried to do well this weekend. Didn't really happen. I think its PMS & based on my weight loss chart it's about right. I have a 2 lb gain for a week once a month. ARGHH! Had a very productive weekend. Did a B-day party Saturday & did pretty well because I planned for it. Completely blew it yesterday though.
Spent all day Sunday canning, made "Apple Pie in a Jar", Persimmion Jam, Spiced Harvest Pear Jam, Pear Cranberry Jelly & Pineapple-Red Pepper Relish. Didn't test any of the batches but all the cooking made me hungry for good cooking. Blew it on a pork tenderloin & homemade cheese tortillini w/ heavy white sauce. Then topped it all off w/ a bowl of Special K at about 9 pm.
Guess we'll see tonight when I weigh in.
MrsD - made another pie last night and again without any sort of substitute...btw I want your gingerbread recipe.
227 is my magic number. Maybe it's my happy weight?
Hey, shizzigirl, I made two apple pies yesterday, both with Splenda and Smart Balance. They are now residing in the freezer! Used refrigerated pie crust, just easier. Dang! Gained over a pound from all the potstickers, chili-cheese dip and tortilla chips my husband put out for the guys watching the game. Should've stayed away from the Man Room!
Here it is:
Lightened Gingerbread
2 1/4 cups flour, all-purpose
1/3 cup Splenda
1 cup Molasses, Dark
3/4 cup hot water
1/2 cup shortening
1/4 cup egg substitute
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. salt
Heat over to 325 degrees. Grease and flour a square pan, 9x9x2-inches. Measure all the ingredients into a large mixer bowl. Blend 30 seconds on low speed, scraping bowl constantly. Beat 3 minutes on medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into pan.
Bake 50 minutes or until wooden toothpick comes out clean. Serve warm, sprinkled with powdered sugar.
I cut it into 12 small pieces; comes out to 272 calories and 9 grams of fat! And it is delicious! Enjoy.
Workout planned, have to now, and eating light all day!
Have a good week.
Hello all
I'm sorry I haven't been around for a while- I have been reading your posts though soI haven't been completely missing.
I have had a rough time of it recently, don't want to go into too much detail but I've been dealing with some depression/anxiety issues, PMS making it a whole lot worse! I am getting some help though, so hopefully you'll be seeing the old Laura back here soon.
Weight wise- I have yo-yoed up and down between 192-196 and am currently sitting at 194. It is an all time low, but I'm not blowing my own trumpet because any loss is due to appetite loss and thats not healthy!
Keep at it girls, cos you all cheer me up!
Made the Gingerbread yesterday, but discovered I didn't have enough shortening-so I used Smart Balance and cut it into 16 small pieces! Delicious! Wow! This one's a keeper. Sixteen pieces comes out to 188 calories and only 4.8 grams of fat!
Today I plan on making several mini-loaves of Pumpkin Raisin Nut Bread, then putting them in the freezer to give away @ Christmas time. I also make Eggnog Bread, Cranberry-Orange Bread and of course, Banana Nut Bread. Always looking for new nut breads to add to the collection. Don't make too many cookies with the exception of Mexican Wedding Cakes/Russian Tea Cakes, they are just too delicious not to make! And super simple. Not low cal or low fat, however. Round little globes of pure heaven!
Dropped some weight, Thank God! Workout with weights planned! I'm thinking of making that Guinness Pot Roast with baby potatoes and baby carrots for dinner-pretty tasty.
Keep up the good work everyone!
Workout cancelled, allergies acting up pretty bad, had to take a couple Benedryls. Droppy, dozy, laid-back on meds. No energy. It's been a while since I took anything for allergies, haven't been bothered much in a few, several years. All this painting/moving stuff really kicked up the dust, one of my triggers.
I'll have to eat light all day, watch the calories and grams of fat. Going into the kitchen to make a loaf of Pumpkin Ale Bread to go with dinner. Still, all in all, menu for today totals 1269 calories and 29 grams of fat. Nice and low. Room for some more of that Gingerbread!
MRS D Try cranberry orange loaf with walnuts or almonds. Recipes for it are easy to find online
Already have that one. But thanks.
Hmmm, weight up a tiny bit. Workout planned. Have been cooking like crazy, and happily, gave half the loaf of Pumpkin Ale Bread away. Tonight I have a hankering for curry, so I'm making a one-dish meal: Curried Chicken and Rice. It has peas, cauliflower and tomatoes in it, serving it with Mango Chutney and Flaked Coconut. It's pretty yummy. I love the simplicity of one-dish meals, a no-brainer.
My husband painted the kitchen alcove/nook the same color as the office, "Caramel Sundae", and it looks fantastic, very warm and inviting. Now I need to recover the chairs at the table in the nook, so I'll go looking at fabrics. The paint makes the kitchen "POP" (Home & Garden-channel lingo, aka HGTV).
I don't know if any one else does this, but I find myself watching the Foodnetwork channel a lot. Maybe have a bit of a preoccupation with food? At least I try to make my dishes lighter than what they do on TV!
Happy Hump Day, everyone! Battle!
Hip Hip Hurray! Weighed in yesterday & have lost 50 lbs! (SW 234 CW 184) 10 lbs more to my original goal. I know I'll fluctuate for a few days before it sticks but this is my lowest weight in 8 years! Went out & celebrated & still managed to keep my calories & exercise in line.
WOW! Congratulations, hhdrgnfly! That's fantastic! Makes me want to amp up my workouts and cut more calories! Lowest I've been, back in February was 187.6, and it felt soooo good! That was the day before my birthday, and the day of my birthday-oh, let's just say I blew it big time! I want to get back there BEFORE my birthday this next February. Gotta concentrate on the prize!
Weighed in @ 197.8 this morning, no change. Did have a rather large helping, and then some, of my Curried Chicken and Rice-so good. Tonight we're having Filet Mignon's, baked potatoes with non-fat sour cream, roasted asparagus, and thanks to my friend "Wolf", some sauteed Chantrelle mushrooms! Never had them and looking forward to them. I'll do my husband's in butter, mine in Smart Balance.
Workout planned, abbreviated it yesterday, bad idea. Going to tackle some home projects this morning and today-defrosting my freezer, organizing my office closet. That sort of thing. Just as long as it expends calories!
Keep up the good work!
MrsD- Thanks!
Hi all,
Shizzi - challenge report, I did about 140 min of cardio that week, which definitely did not meet the challenge but it was about 120 more than I would have done if you hadn't put that out there! AND, I put gym clothes in my car for the first time in months with plans to go to the gym after work (24 hour fitness, in this case - I plan to scoop up all the free 'weeks' in every gym in town before committing).
Weight - who knows, not going to step on the scale, spent a week in Philly with my sister eating. Now, it turns out she's an inch shorter than I am and probably weighs 5 pounds less but she looks good! This is a good thing to know, hard to really 'see' myself after 2.5 decades of being overweight even though I've lost 30ish pounds. Also, despite her similarity in size she wears a size 10 jeans so now I see what you all 180+ pound women were talking about, I just have a different build so 16 and maybe 14 are probably going to be it for me (though I did put a pair of her jeans on by mistake and still zipped them...). She has picked out beautiful, BEAUTIFUL, bridesmaid dresses and the dress shop complimented me on my 'tiny' waist! (in relation to big hips). Gotta work on my triceps though if I'm going to have them out in public. Skin at age 43 is losing its elasticity fast. Anyway, she was amazed at my size, I have not been this small in her lifetime ... I'll put a picture up so y'all will know I don't look like kittens. Still want to get to 175 for the May wedding.
Laura - keep up the good fight! Things will turn around for the better for you soon...
