The Ant and the Carrot

Quote  |  Reply

There was a story I heard once when I was little, it was called The Ant and the Carrot.

Basically, this ant finds a huge carrot he wants to take home.  He thinks it's too big so he says, I'll do a little at a time and see if anyone wants to help me along the way.  Various animals he encounters on his journey refuse to help him.  Finally the ant says, "This is terrible!  I'll never get this carrot home!"  But then he looks around and realizes he's already made it.

It's been eight months.. I've lost more weight than I have left to lose.  It's not coming off as quickly as I would like, but it is coming off and I'm proud.

I think a lot of times we might be plagued by low self-esteem, and this blocks us from realizing what we've accomplished so far.  I've struggled with that for a long time, but today I was able to look at progress pictures of myself with fresh eyes.  It helped me to see how far someone can go if they're determined enough.

Forty-four pounds down, forty to go.  I can do this and you can too.

Kmquillo,

Hello, so nice to meet you.  Thank you for the story and the reminder.  Congrats on your progress!!

Kmquillo,

Thanks, I needed that little story tonight..I was feeling like I was walking up a very high hill...I have been feeling good about my diet and progress, but I was very tired while leaving work today..I caught a glimpse of myself in the door glass..It was so depressing..I guess because I was so tired, I saw just the negative.. I realized I have a very long journey ahead of me. It seems like I have such a long way to go to get to where I will be glad to see myself in a mirror...But, you're right - it does take time and I am making progress.

Congrats on your weight loss and attitude.!

Kmquillo - Great story and congratulations on your weight loss!

Lyntex - Reflections are just that - don't let them do anything but motivate you to make it a reflection you are proud of!
