is anybody else addicted to the TrueBlood series?

I mean seriously, it's to the point where my job and my family are becoming a nuicience. (sp?) All I want to do is watch this series! it's got sex, vampires, drugs, shapeshifters, werewolves, ju ju magic, eye-candy, craziness! Its got everything! It's made me gain weight, too, sadly.  I have to watch it everynight with a big bowl of popcorn, instead of going to the gym or taking the dog for a long walk.

All the actors are extremely well-built and buffed up, so you would think that would inspire me....

It's a sad sad state of affairs - I need an intervention! Or at least a support group.

Well at least there are only so many episodes - that is unless you are watching them over and over. Sadly the season is over so I won't get my next fix for a few months.

ah, yes...I am not looking forward to that day when I catch up...I'm only on the second episode of the second season.  My liberation will be bittersweet.  it will probably be Monday at the rate I'm going.  Could be that I'll be back at square one with my weight - as long as I'm not heavier than I was when I started CC, I'll be okay with that.  Is that wrong? hahaha

Yeah, after doing the same thing with Six Feet under and Sex & the City we finally decided we need to just buckle down and get HBO.  Not that the week long DVD marathons aren't fun, but now we don't have to wait.  :)

I LOVED six feet under, too! And Dexter is supposed to be really good - do you watch that?

Dexter is good!

Dexter is AWESOME! They leaked the first episode of the new season... he lands himself in quite the predicament at the end, I'm sooo curious to see how he gets out of it! And the new serial killer the Miami PD is tracking looks like he'll be very interesting... hehe. So weird that the guy who plays Dexter is dating the chick who plays his sister on the show haha.

I think they got married!

Here is our TB thread.

OMG..im obsessed with TRUE BLOOD! My boyfriend and I became obsessed with it last month and finished all of season 1 in probably a week and a half. Second season was ahhh-mazing and I was able to catch up and watch all of it up until the finale (which by the way wasn't as good as i expected the finale to be but anyway :). My boyfriend just got me season one of dexter but I haven't been able to get into it like how i was with true blood.. i miss it!

ps. my boyfriend is a radio producer and actually just interviewed TARA from true blood the other day..he was in heaven! haha

Except for good plots and decent acting...

And it's a blatant rip-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer

If you can't get enough True Blood and you haven't read the books you have to read them. I think they are better then the series.

I have just downloaded every episode available for Dexter. I just watched the first season starting last night and have finished it this morning.

12 hours of Dexter.

Okay, I'll give you that - the acting IS pretty crappy - but I can get past that. hahaha - I think the plots are hilarious.

Were you a big Buffy fan, then?

I load up my favorite shows on my iPod and jump on the elliptical as I watch them. Best way to work out without continuously staring at the clock!

I don't think the acting is crappy and the plots are fabulous.  Perhaps for you its the idea of the story lines in general?  The first time I watched, I thought....seriously, this is so far from the truth.  But its entertainment.  Star Trek isn't real either, but people flock to that too.  Just let your hair down and believe the plot is real for the time it's on.  Oh, and I believe it to be a smidge more dark and adult than Buffy.  I find it hard to compare the two.

If anyone can kidnap Godric for me, I'll owe you something really shiny ;)

Only if you find me an Eric :)

Let's see... hot blonde chick with super powers she doesn't want, living in a community where vampires live amongst the people, surrounded by a group of friends including a witty female best friend, a younger sibiling who's always getting in trouble, and a nice, safe, male friend who's really in love with her but she won't give him the time of day because she's too distracted by the mysterious, hansome, non-evil vampire-with-a-soul who helps keep her safe and out of trouble who is the only object of her affection until along comes a rebelious, dangerous, foreign blonde vampire to compete with the brown-haired vampire-with-a-soul.  Which show am I describing?

You kinda forgot the whole, Buffy, vampire SLAYER Thing.

Sookie doesn't kill vamps that I've seen, in fact, the only person/thing she's killed was a serial killer who was killing women who liked vamps.

That's a pretty big plot difference. Sookie has super powers, but she's not a slayer by any means.

she DOES kill vamps in the book

Then my point is moot. It's basically Buffy: remixed.

Ah well I like it anyway.

Emma isn't a high school student like Cher, but Clueless is still based on Emma.

Elizabeth Bennet didn't chain smoke and count her calories, but Bridget Jones still follows the plot of Pride & Prejudice (the book version of BJ, especially).

And only Tony dies at the end of West Side Story, and Maria lives.  But it's a clear recreation of Romeo and Juliet.

Point being, minor plot deviations or character don't change the extreme similarities. At least in the examples I gave, they had the decency to use old works, not something that's only been off the air for less than a decade.

And to the comment that TB is more "adult" - it's on HBO, so it can have nudity - of course it seems more adult. But I'd rank the humor in Buffy much more intelligent than what I've seen in TB.
