does anybody else have a flabby stomach like this?

Quote  |  Reply

well hi--

i have a lot of flab on my stomach, but it doesn't seem to be the kind of flab that i've seen on other girls' stomachs. instead of puffing out in the middle, it's round all over and there's a pretty defined line where the gross stuff overlaps.

anyway, the point i'm trying to make is that it looks unusual, even for a flabby stomach. here's a picture:

(ps: the link won't work unless you copy, paste, and delete the space between "vi" and "del" on "ssj_videl"; idk why that's there)

see that line? most girls i've seen don't have that, even if they have a flabby stomach.

what i can't tell is if it's skin or fat. it looks to me like the gut of an overweight person, except that i'm 116-118 pounds. does anybody else have a stomach like this? if so, is it normal and how can i work on it?

ugh you know for me my body is pretty normal EXCEPT for my stomach. my stomach is WAY out of proportion. its not THAT bad when i stand up but when i sit down its like im 4 months pregnant but you know its fat because there is like 3 huge rolls that are there and then you can see all the fat that folds over my jeans and its so disgusting. my now ex boyfriend would tell me "you got legs for miles but you really need to work on that stomach" and my other friend would tell me "you could be a model if you got rid of those stomach rolls" it realllly hurt me and you know right before i might my ex i did great. for six weeks i ate healthy and exercised to the point where i would sit down and there would not be ONE ROLL!! I was happy and it was the skinnest i had ever been, but then just out of the blue i gave up. but i think the main problem is drinking beer, and then after i got drunk i would want to eat. and it didnt matter what i ate, in fact my body craved fast food, so thats what i would get. it was horrible and every morning i would wake up hating myself for it but i did the same thing every night til the point where just 2 weeks later i was bigger from when i first started my healty exercise routine. anyway though...its just really bad for me and ive been out of town on vacation and i made a promise to myself that more than anything i want to be skinny...and to achieve that i need to stop drinking. hey, it only gets me in trouble anyway.

i have it and im a guy and it sucks

its cuz you lost weight fast..same with me =[

Err, yeah, you lost weight too fast. You didn't give your skin any time to contract. My fiance lost about 100 pounds in a year (about three years ago), and he has some serious flab that never went away. He tucks his skin into his pants, how bad is that?

Hi! I too carried most of my extra weight in my stomach. Then I found out about "Clean Eating", and lost about 5 inches in my stomach!!! Tosca Reno has a book "The Clean Eating Diet". It's not really a diet, its a life style change in the way you eat. No processed foods, no sugar, no white flour. But it's easier than it sounds! I just eat whole grains, fruits, veggies, lean meats. I cook my own foods instead of opening packages! (Thats one of the main secrets!!) Diet foods aren't really diet foods at all, they are usually processed. There's also a "Clean Eating" magazine I like.

Anyway, that's my take on the stomach. I was pleasantly suprised how fast my tummy changed!! it's still not perfect, but much better!

You might be eating too much carbs and foods that raise your estrogen level. How do your hips look? Try this for 30 days, don't eat white rice, white pasta, white bread, avoid soy products and high fructose corn syrup (read the labels, it's in everything!) as much as you can. Also NO ALCOHOL, that stuff will raise your estrogen level and make you crave carbs, if you absolutelly can't avoid it, then have a clear licquor like vodka or rum, and a non calory mixer like diet coke. NO wine, NO beer.

Try a weighted hula hoop, that took at least 2 in off my waist in 1 month (it hurts like hell for a week, but then you get used to it). I use the 4lb acuhoop

Good luck!

I'm 130 and my stomach is quite similar except my line is furthur up, across my belly button and I have two distinct tummy rolls when I sit down. Its pretty disgusting really- I'm not quite sure how to get rid of it; my plan is to lose 3-5 pounds and keep up my ab exercises to tighten it up.

omg im the same!!!!!!!!!!!i hate it, how its all accumulated to the bottom so randomly. i was always convinced it was excess skin, cuz with my ED wen i was younger i dropped from a HW of 146 to a LW of 85....

im 5ft 2 and 107 i STILL have it its so grossly disproportionate. i look about 120 but even tho thats not even chubsy for me its still like its just on my belly....its pretty flat to one point then KABLOOEY all soft and like a literal spare tire, and its so like a beer gut wen i bend over.

but at least we no we're we are not alone/weird

dont lose nemore its only going to compound the problem...ie more muscle loss and extra skin

i suppose crunches, short bursts of aerobics and non-bloating food and drink is the key to tackling it xx

How did you two lose that much weight that fast?  Please tell me!!!  I feel like nothing i'm doing is working, and I'm hypothyroid, so that doesn't help.  It's almost to the point where I want to just give up and seek counseling to learn to love me the way that I am...I feel that I am all out of options...I try to eat right, I work out like crazy, yet this freaking thyroid problem just will not allow my body to let go of the weight.  I have friends that I persuade  to work out with me and they lose weight while mine just lingers...

You don't want to loose weight that fast. That's 10 lbs in a month for 3 months straight. It's unhealthy, which it sounds like they know now. You shouldn't loose more than 2 lbs per week, unless you are just starting out--the first coulple weeks you will drop extra. Dropping down to less that 1200 calories a day for ANYone (no matter how short you are) is unhealthy.

As for the line, I have seen other girls with that line below their belly button. It's probably just were you have excess fatty cells so even when you are in a healthy weight, they won't move. Uh...for an example, think of your breasts (it's the best example I've got) Some women have much larger or smaller breasts due to a concentration of fatty cells. Does that make sense? I've also heard that if you work out your ab muscles a lot and you just have a little fat there it can make it look much larger than it really is. It's an optical illusion. It's really muscle pushing your small amount of tummy fat out so it bulges out more.

Also, even the skinniest girls tend to have a "gut" when they bend over, unless they have very, very little body fat. I had a little gut still at 120lbs.

I have that line too; a lot of girls I've met have the line, it's pretty normal. You and I may not like it, but there it is, and there it will most likely stay.

Although, I'm only just now watching my weight. I'm 5'9 and I weigh 187, so my line might go away some. I dunno though, it may just be there for good.

it could be water retention, maybe you consume a lot of sodium.  drink more caffeine it speeds up urine production thus getting rid of excess water. or start drinking more ironically if you drink more it will get rid of the excess water because in laymans terms it dilutes and evens out sodium levels in body.

YES YES and YES.

I'm between 116- 118, and I don't believe I would be so concerned with my weight if it wasn't for my stomach. I'm not sure if it's fat... I kinda yo-yo on what I eat. (not like yo-yo dieting, I just eat less some weeks, than more others.) I drink plently of water though.

Recently, I've been cutting out extra sugar and doing a few toning exersises, and it's been giving me more of the curvy/lean muscle look to that area. hah

Hope this helps some!

im not really overweight and i have the same thing. it is just skin i think. i have had it for a long time.

Go to the gym! If you're at a healthy weight but there's something you don't like about your body, chances are losing weight, like some people advised, won't help. Time to start exercising, I think.
