Anybody else hate mirrors and lightinings in rooms?
How can you ever know the way you look?
In one room mirror I look perfect, nice stomach, thin, and so on.
And in another room with a different lightining I look like I have a bump on my stomach, which looks waaay larger than I think it is, and fat.
Aghhh! I hate mirrors and lighting!
Sorry for ranting. =/
Mirrors and lights do make a difference, which is why you always see models looking different in every picture.
I hate the mirrors and lighting in dressing rooms. Why can't they just use normal lights!!
Aghh!! I know, I look like a pig in those mirrors =[[[
I think this is why I love learning about Media, and lighting types.
I noticed the other day, while trying on clothes in various stores, that the lighting in changing rooms is often hard lighting from one source - on a stage or in a production piece, that'd be the key light. Stark. Harsh. High contrast. Makes you look worse than you really do, thus easier to be hard on yourself. For example, I could see lots of my acne scarring under that lighting and felt really ugly. As soon as I stepped into a normal, softer lit storefront and looked in the mirror again, I could see myself realistically.
Funny, really. You'd think that, if a store is trying to sell you clothes, they'd put in lighting in the changing rooms that made you look better, not worse...
Lol, I agree with lalabanana. That is sort of stupid from their part XD.
As for the mirrors...apparently, many stores use tricks like "skinny mirrors" or "fat mirrors" to impact customers. It's really simple...if you tilt a mirror slightly forward, the person looks skinnier, etc. If you tilt it slightly backward, they look fatter, wider, etc. Or they just curve the middle of the mirror inward or outward. It's a pretty annoying gimmic for trying to get people to buy clothes, but sometimes mirrors just do it anyway (the mirror in my room tilts back slightly, to sit against the wall...but it makes me feel good! :D )
Don't quote me on the directions of the mirror there, but it's something to that effect.
I hate dressing room lighting! It keeps me from buying clothing. Or even going clothes shopping, for that matter.
I know =/ I feel excited picking out the clothes but then after i look at myself in those dressing rooms I get mad and don't try anything on.
Ugh...this is soooo annoying! I seriously don't know if I know what I REALLY look like! I wonder if I look the same to other people as I do to myself in the mirror??? That's a horrible thought...
I usually look different in different mirrors...I look ok in the one in my room, super large in the mirror in my bathroom, average in the mirror at mom's, and really thick in the mirror at the gym! Which one's the real me???
I usually find cute stuff while I shop, and end up walking out without nothing (or hardly anything) after seeing myself in the clothes in their dressing rooms! Especially swimsuit shopping! I hate, hate, HATE swimsuit shopping! I feel as depressed after that as I did when my dog died when I was a little girl :(
You know I do the same thing missmontana, it's depressing actually, but atleast I got over the fear and just bought some bathingsuits and tried them on at home, I'm just going to trust that I look as good as I did at my home mirror =]
