ok im 14 and im slightly overweight. alot of my friends are skinny and they tell me im skinny all the time but im not. i play basketball so ill be slimming down alot. if they is any teens out there i would really like to hear from you guys and so it motivates me a lil' more.

Hey! I'm a teen + your same age!

A lot of my friends are thin and they think I look fine too. If they knew exactly how much I weighed they would think otherwise lol. I guarantee you'll enjoy yourself here at CC and good luck on any goals you're willing to achieve!
hey that is awesome that we are the same age. thanks for the support lol. only one of my friends know my real weight and she only weighs about 113 but she is so understanding and always makes me feel good about myself. lol. Good luck to you too on your goals and everything

I feel eldery here, but yes i am 18.. and i find this site most inspirational to read. I can identify with most of the problems, and just knowing that other people share the same view is FREAKING amazing! The thought that i am alone, is no longer!

My weight loss journey began after getting my job at a woman's gym. From there on, its been improvement... (besdies the slight plateau at the moment!)

Glad to hear that your into the sports teams at school. That will definatly improve all aspects of you health! =) And i know what you mean about skinny friends, they're all lovely... but there is always a slight bit of resentment over these people with ULTRA SPEEDY metabolisms.

I'm a teen for about six more months :) How do you know you're overweight? Did your doctor tell you that?

Hi! I'm 17. Its really hard trying to get things right as a teen, people expect you to be either living on McDonalds and pizza and Coke, or being a sports-mad eating disordered kind of person.

So well done on being healthy. Sport and exercise make you feel so good!
hey everybody.. im kelly and im 14 and im in basketball. i act more mature than what i am. its hard to find people dieting around me that is my age, b/c they are all skinny. i have a sorta fast metabolism but it aint fast enough for me.

lanicita my doctor didnt tell me or anything, i just caculated my average weight to my normal weight..

anywho good luck with your goals...i'm going for losing 15-20 pounds... i have 20 on my goal weight thing on c-c but yeah...15-20, woop!

i guess the hardest thing for me is staying away from sugar but it spikes your insulin and makes your body create/hold in fat so it's generally just not good for you :) but i hear if you drop it for 2 weeks then you dont really want it anymore...

anywhoo. that's probably the best thing to do to drop weight...drop sugar and bad/refined carbs...but i'm not an advice forum so i'll just say good luck and welcome!
yea i have to stay away from sugar 2. it kinda sucks tho b/c that is one of my favorite foods. lol im not really heavy either but yea i wouldnt be missing those pounds either lol.

I'm 18! i just joined c-c last week and so far i've lost 2 lbs! i think it's a great way to see what all your eating, and if you are like me, be shocked by how much crap you eat...MY problem is sweets...anyone have any advice on satisfying your sugar/chocolate cravings without eating all of your calories in 10 min??

hey kwlctyler06 i have the same problem. i eat those mini candy bars like one a nite if i have a bad craving.. i try to eat one a week anymore but sometimes i eat one every nite.... lol...... but i dont know what would work for you..then sometimes i have a waffle, put some peaches on it and some cool whip. its low in calories and has my sweets in it, sometimes i make jello and put cool whip in them thats sweet and that is low in calories too. hope that helps good luck and good job
Hello! I'm 15 here and simply working on maintaining; I've been blessed with a good metabolism and now working on simply making myself into a healthier and better person. ^^

How much do you weigh and what is your height? Make sure you don't go overboard; I know you're probably sick of hearing people say this, but sometimes people are at a perfectly normal and ideal weight and simply need to tone.

Get motivated and get out there! Have fun with basketball! : )

EDIT: For sweet cravings, I have decided to delve in the realm of fruits; many are extremely full of sugar that can get lots of cravings under control. I also allow myself one treat a week or something extremely small (less then bite size), so that helps; I'm not so against having something that my brain decides it wants it. Once you get yourself set on not having something at all, then you probably want it some more. Chewing gum, especially sugarless cinnamon gum, also helps. I also chew on the end of a pen, since it keeps me from mindlessly snacking. ^^;;;

Lastly, I cut soda out of my diet completely, except for at most one diet soda a month if I am in dire need of caffeine.

phoenix, im about 5'7" and i weigh about 160..but alot of that is muscle..i think lol. i have alot of leg muscles. i have conditioning so im lifting alot of weights and running so yea... i have a 2 pack and working on a 4 pack but that aint that noticable lol. ill have fun playing basketball...thanks
