has anybody seen thhat website that shows pictures of height to weight ratios?
it's here if you haven't...
http://www.cockeyed.com/photos/bodies/heightw eight.shtml
anyway, i just think that either a lot of those people are lying because a lot of them don't add up
i think it's such a great idea though, i wish there was a more accurate version
It is a great idea, I've used it a ton of times for motivation (which I should stop doing, really) but I agree, I see a lot of variance in the pictures.
hey
Well I weigh less than the girlie in my block ( 5'8" 160lb)& I sure as hell dont look like her I can tell you.... Oh well back to wishfull thinking......lol
For one thing, I think some of them look inaccurate... perhaps people have inaccurately measured their height.
For another, I don't like how they include categories, and photographs, of underweight subjects. A 5'6" woman who weighs 90lbs? A 5'10" woman who weighs 110? A 6'4" man who weighs 120? That, if correct, would give him a BMI of 14.6.
I would be concerned it could be used as inspiration by people with eating disorders.
I definitely agree that there are some inaccuracies here. for example, the woman who is supposedly 5'3" and 105 lbs. I don't mean to sound bitchy or judgemental, but she does not look like she's that small (I'm only a few pounds more than that. though I am a teen so there's a difference). The girl who is 5'3" and 110 looks skinnier than her. I understand there is always different body types, plus her outfit isn't very flattering to any body shape. but still, something about some of these pictures is off-putting. I guess it could work motivationally or something though, but there's probably a better way of going about it lol
But people carry their weight differently. Perhaps they should have a website showing BF%, not height/weight.
I'm 5'6" and I weigh about 140lbs right now, and those are current pictures in my gallery. I weighed a little less when I took those pictures, but my figure looks exactly the same. Anyway, most people guess I weigh less than 140lbs. My BF% is 18% which is low for someone of my BMI. I just have a lot of muscle (thanks to lifting :)

This. I'm 5'5" and 140ish but lower BF% than the woman on the grid there. Heh, also due to lifting. (Snarky aside: sometimes those low rise jeans just aren't the best choice, ya know?)
yah, i mean obviously depending on muscle mass weights are going to fluctuate
but i don't think by as much as is seen in SOME of the pictures.. i think some people are either lying or need a new scale system
Yeah, I also realise that bodyfat/muscle ratios make a big difference. But I still think that a lot of the pictures look inaccurate - there are some people who look like they have very little muscle who apparently also weigh next to nothing.
Here's the Illustrated BMI guide from Flickr:
It looks decently accurate to me, and when it doesn't, it's usually to illustrate a point (BMI does not reflect accurately for everyone, etc).
Looks about right to me!
that one seems like it could be better but it's really unorganized
i feel like CC should make one
i know that everyone here is generally pretty honest about their weight
Hmmm, I feel like CC members should try to collaborate and make a collection akin to this for inspirational purposes. What say you?
I find it quite interesting that some of the pics are judged as inaccurate because they aren't what peolpe expect them to be.
People carry their weight differently, some have higher bf%, some have thicker bones and others maybe more muscled.
When I was involved in amateur boxing it opened my eyes as to how you could get two guys at the same weight look so different.
That is super interesting, I have always struggled with really knowing what I look like since I have lost weight - I still see myself as really big sometimes. There's only one person near my height and weight, she weighs a little more than me but she looks skinnier than I think I do. It's strange huh?

i think it's been stated that we're aware of the fluctuations in the way people carry their weight, but i think the general consensus is that the site is not accurate even when you consider that...
anyway, i think it'd be great to collab on something like that.. i'll send:p my pic in when the scale reads 120 :)
Nonesense, the scale should never be our basis. If you'll check my profile, my picture is clear proof that not everyone looks what they weigh. I'm 5'4", 135lbs. The lady who is about that height/weight in the photos looks differently.

True, I think it would be pretty cool if CC had one, but I can't help but think it would just draw the same comments regarding accuracy.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the chart, it just needed more people to participate in each catergory.

^This.
Humans are humans, regardless of which site they visit.
i guess it would be cool if a professional nutrition company or some such created one. that way they could control the experiment and have people come into their office and weigh and measure them and take their photo.
they could also make different ones, like for male and female and for athletic and non-athletic people, etc.
I can't believe my spot at 5'2" 110 STILL hasn't been filled. Pity about my aversion to posting photos of myself online else I would jump in there. I have got to say the 5'2" girls at 130 look great to my surprise as I always though that weight would be way to heavy for me at my height.
How do I adjust my calories to compensate for spastic muscles?
Are you sure that you are spending fewer calories? Calorie requirements are reduced for cerebral palsy patients with spasticity and immobility... Read more
