Anybody thinking about Thanksgiving already?
I don't know about you guys, but I've been thinking about Thanksgiving since August! I know this is going to sound bad, but that's my official "I don't care about this diet, I'm not counting sh**, I may not even exercise day"!!seriously that's why I'm being such a good girl this month, now the day after Thanksgiving im Miss.Be healthy"again.![]()
i'm looking forward to the pumpkin pie sooooo much! that and the cranberry sauce. i'm gonna stuff my face. :) other than that i don't really care.
I'm not in the US and don't celebrate Thanksgiving, so I have to say... not so much. ![]()
But I am looking forward to Diwali! ![]()
Yeah, I've even already calculated the calories of what I'll eat for Thanksgiving dinner. I'll be able to have my turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and cranberries. And a slice of pumpkin pie for a snack later.
I'm in college, so I'm going to miss my traditional family one.
However, I will be eating everything in site at the one I throw with my friends the day beforehand.
You bet! Hubby and I are going to drive out to Tuscon to be with daughter, SIL and our two adorable red-headed granddaughters! YEA! They just moved into a new house and all are very excited about the visit. Since my hubby does most of the cooking it gives everyone time to visit more. Can't wait!
im nervous about it. normally when i go on vacations i gain weight because i can't measure my food and now how many calories im actually consuming.
im afraid that i will gain 19 lbs on my thanksgiving break which is probably impossible to do.
i have to figure out a way to weigh my food w/o my extended family seeing me. my parents and brother already criticize me for weighing my food right now. they think that im insane for weighing my food and that im taking weight loss too seriously.
so im dreading thanksgiving and xmas for those reasons!

if you are seriously going to weigh your food on thanksgiving- if you're even considering it- you do have some serioud weight issues! it is absolutely impossible to gain 19 lbs over thanksgiving break. you would have to eat around 67,000 calories over maintenence to do that! your fear is completely irrational. thanksgiving is a time to sit back and enjoy friends and family and the fact that we actually have food. restricting yourself is not being thankful. i really don't think people should even count on this day- one day isn't going to hurt anything in the long-term- but if you have to, then fine. but weighing out your food?! dreading the holidays??!! what good is being slim if you can't even enjoy your life?

you should seriously look into how obsessed you are, but if your family is like mine and makes it a "Thanksgiving WEEK!" I'd see your reason for concern. Here's a trick that works for anything in a bowl - sneak to the kitchen whenever you have a spare moment, and find a measuring cup. Fill it with water and get out a few bowls and measure how many cups of water fit into each. Then you know basically how much you are eating later when you use them. I do this around my dorm-mates because they don't know I'm dieting. (I'm the thinnest, so I don't want them to think that I think they are fat, because I think I need to lose weight and they weigh more.)

that's a really good idea. i do that too, because i still need to know approximately how much i eat, just not exact measurements. for example, i know a certain glass filled about 3/4 full is 1 cup, another glass holds just over 2 cups, and i know which bowls hold 2 and 3 cups when filled to about half an inch from the top. but this is so different from weighing out ounces of food! more than anything, just don't let the measuring/weighing prevent you from enjoying the holidays.
I don't celebrate it but turkey dinners are very nice. :D
Meh, but I do like turkey with mashed potatoes and pumkin pie. :)

What is Diwali? What do you do to celebrate it?
Yes! I really want some turkey with stuffing and cranberry sauce, oh! and a huge slice of mom's delicious pumpkin pie. Mmm!
Mmmhh... turkey dinner! Unfortunately my family is in Europe and I will be spending Thanksgiving on my own which makes me a little sad but on the other hand it will be much easier to resist...
I suppose I'll make a skinny-1-person-dinner with broiled turkey or chicken breast, baked squash, gravy, cranberries and I'll buy 1 piece of apple pie ... well... maybe two... but that's it! :o)
I am going to eat an obnoxious amount of turkey on that day, and let the rest take care of itself.
It is never a problem for me... I usually just have one scoop of potatos and a thin slice or two of turkey... Maybe a little gravy.. I've gotten made fun of for years because I never even eat half a plates worth of food.... Now the holiday cookies my family has been making for over 20 years(every year, without fail)... Those are harder for me.... I don't like any holiday that gives me an 'excuse' to over eat.. No point, i'll only pay for it later... :) So chin up! You'll make it threw just fine!
Oh you're not alone - I have been thinking about Thanksgiving since August... if not before too! I love Thanksgiving because it's a non-stress holiday (you don't have to think about gifts)... and it's focus is on FOOD - yummy yummy food! I feel inspired during this holiday too and I cook some MEAN veggie side dishes - mm mm good! How many more days?!?! like 50??
Oh boy! I can't wait till Thanksgiving!!! My mom's bf is an AMAZING cook..I'm so anxious to see what he'll cook up. And my mom is a total dessert queen. Her pies are to die for!! Ooooh I can't wait! And there won't be any guilt whatsoever! :)
