Anybody have tiny frame/when you gain weight, it really shows?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm soooo frustrated and I'm wondering if there's anyone else out there who's in this situation.  My frame is redunkulously small.  My arms and legs (except for my thighs) are skinny concentration camp style.  I have chicken legs like any anorexic would kill for, but it seriously makes it impossible for me to carry weight.  I'm 5'8 1/2 and I weigh 149 pounds, which for most women my height would be reasonable, but for me it's too much.  Every single pound I gain goes straight to the middle-none of it gets distributed all over my body.

Does anybody else have this problem/need to weigh less than the average person of your height?

It. Sucks!

What I have been doing while trying to gain weight (underweight) is weight training, but my calories are usually only around 100 or so above maintenance, while there are days that are under, matching, and higher (depending on hunger). I'm gaining VERY slowly, but so far the weight has only really gone to my arms and legs, as that's where I'm focusing my training.
When I eat around 500 calories over maintenance to gain weight, it goes straight to my gut. Which really sucks.. because I REALLY need some body fat, but I don't want it there. Hehe.

Hey gals:P:P I feel yas! Im tiny (5'2) AND a tiny frame and have the exact same prob..skinny bony arms and legs but from the thigh up to ribs is like someone elses body and is sooo hard to get rid of :( theres a roll of fat i can grab just at the very top of the inside of my thigh and also a rubber ring of pure fat around my middle: belly/love handles/back fat sighhhh....

Its really horrible coz i want to get rid of it but the only way to do it is to lose more weight but i dont wanna look like a 9 year old starving kid..lets face it!:P

everyone says theres no way to spot reduce and tell me to 'tone up' but honestly i am a gym junkie and i run everyday! doesnt work peoples..

sucks to be disproportionate lol

Haha I know!!! Glad I'm not the only one!!! Thanks for responding guys.  I'm trying to lose the fat around the middle...hopefully I don't end up looking emaciated.

mmhmm

most annoying thing ever. and i'm really prone to water retention in my legs.

im the same way when i gain weight!but yea the problem is when i loose weight i become ALL ribs, like you can count them and thats just nasty :( so i either have a pooch and fat or im ribs, theres no inbetween but im experimenting with weight training to see if i cant find that golden center :)

my fat goes to my stomach! it sucks.

Try more weight and strength training and slightly less cardio.  Strength training burns calories too.  Perhaps 3 days of weight training and just two of cardio.  Make sure you get plenty of protien to build muscle!  You won't bulk up and get all muscley, women just don't have that kinda testosterone, but it may help balance out your shape.

i know your asking for ppl like you but ill let u in on the exact opposite feels. I gain everything on my thighs/butt and i have a larger frame that doesnt show anything. It's impossible to buy pants and i have to lose 20 lbs before anything shows any improvement. so u can concentrate on your positive, it probably wont take much weight loss to start to show and u can still wear cute shorts!

oh yeah, I'm the same way and it sucks!! Just all in the middle. I'm at a normal weight for my height (125 lbs, 5'4") but I still have the belly. I've lost 9lbs so far but I still have the belly lol. So like u said, I have to lower my weight but....  I do cardio and strength training as well, and from what I've read on here, that's supposed to be the key.  Hopefully it works!

So I feel your "pain"lol. It sucks !
