hah. i know, but Ive recently stopped drinking alcohol and eating all things delicious and bad like chinese takeaway. So I just want to give myself a fresh start ya know...
How very good for you to be putting aside the alcohol and ordering out, but give your body a break and try drinking water rather than trying to exist for four days on juice.
Calorie Count's mission is to promote healthy and sustainable weight management. This does not include fasting for a few days and detoxing. I hope you rethink it.
Ya i would say just do it the healthy way and drink alot of water.
Its your body so do what you want .

Not really, but I wish you luck on your journey to better health through balanced and healthy diet. If you do choose to go with this juice thing either pick carefully or make your own. Most "juices" out there are just fruit flavored sugar/HFCS water.

I read up alot about this detox, and from what i have researched its completely fine once you dont it for more than a week. Its not that diet beyonce did, its just basically drinking different fruits and veg juices, smoothies, and clear soups.I am not doing this to lose weight, I am doing it as a sort of cleanse, for my liver, kidneys etc.. But your concern is appreciated, and thanks for your nice comments.
Out of curiosity, why do you think that your body will be cleansed more by consuming, for example, apple juice instead of eating an apple. The apple has all the same nutrients but also has fibre - which is good for clearing out your system. I really don't see the point of juice fasts outside of the psychological element of "most cleaners are liquids so I should clean myself out with a liquid". Eating a good clean healthy diet will clean you out better than any juice fast.
Is this a serious post?
Your body isn't magically going to get rid of more toxins because you don't feed it anything solid. It will give you some nutritional deficits to make up later, some weight loss that you will immediately gain back, and put a good long book in the crapper, because you'll need it.

I'd like to add that a diet rich in antioxidants will keep you a lot healthier than trying to "detox." Detox is a misnomer anyway. It doesn't really do that.
Try to get as many of these foods as possible
Hello Carloil!!
I did the juice detox thing, a 5-day programm with only organic juices. The first two days have been fine, but at the third day I started craving for something solid. Kept it up, though, but it's damn hard.
Warning: you are likely to feel tired and sleepy and if you also stop drinking coffee or tea (as you're supposed to do) you could have headaches. You're also likely to feel cold, and you absolutely have to avoid any strong physical effort. Basically the only thing you really detox is your intestine: you'll empty it while eating just fluid helps it absord nutrients with not too much effort.
It's a good excuse to relax a lot, have hot baths, stay warm and read some book. You won't lose much weight, in the end, because you get nutrients anyway with the juices and you have to eat seeds to keep your intestine working.
How you feel in the end? I felt a bit crazy, but at least my intestine now works like a clock, so for a long while after the diet you won't feel bloated or things like that.
A good alternative to juice days are one fruit-only day or similar.
Anyway, good luck with any way you choose, just take care and as long as you're over with detoxing, start on a healty and balanced diet and exercise! I'm doing it and it's working.
Regards,
Josephine
Throughout history MANY people have fasted for many reasons...sometimes in meditation seeking a "higher purpose," sometimes to break old habits, and sometimes because there simply was no FOOD
.
I've tried it a couple times with a goal towards "clearing my mind" and perhaps seeing things differently...sort of quasi-spirituality. My problem is that by day 3 I get a MASSIVE headache that stops me in my tracks.
If you are going to fast remember, you will probably make your system VERY efficient once you go off it, so that may make continued weight loss difficult.
From everything I have read, any fasting should be WITHOUT food...only water. Reason I think juice fasting is silly or worse is that juice is SUGAR, a fast acting carbohydrate and little else. This screws with your insulin levels and blood sugar levels with a constant seesawing up and down. In a REAL fast the body regulates glucose levels and fat metabolism to a steady normal and keeps them there. The insulin response basically goes to sleep and hunger falls to zero.
This constancy and lack of hunger signals is what aids people in their fast and their meditation. With a steady stream of sweet juices, the body is in constant turmoil...a terrible diet with constant hunger.
Solid food digests slowly and thus is far better for our metabolism than juices.
And remember most of all...without food, we are dead in 60 days.

lol, ya think this might be your body saying something? For instance, "I need food."
Calorie Count absolutely does not support any CLEANSES or FASTS for weight loss purposes.
If you want to clease your body eat these foods...
Fruit
Fresh or frozen fruit.
Vegetables
All fresh vegetables. Vegetables thought to be particularly good detox foods include broccoli, cauliflower, broccoli sprouts, onions, garlic, artichokes, beets, red and green vegetables.
Rice
All forms of rice, including rice cakes, rice crackers and rice pasta. Brown rice is typically preferred.
Other Grains
Quinoa, amaranth, millet, and buckwheat can be used instead of rice. They can be purchased at a health food store or in some grocery stores.
Beans
Split yellow and green peas and lentils are easiest to digest and require the least soaking time. Other good options include kidney beans, pinto beans, mung beans, garbanzo beans (chickpeas) and adzuki beans.
Nuts and Seeds
Unsalted nuts or seeds can be sprinkled over salads or eaten as a snack. Good options include flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, cashews and walnuts. Nut butters are permitted. Peanuts and peanut butter are usually not recommended.
Oil
Extra-virgin olive oil is a preferred oil.
Condiments
Vegetable salt, sea salt, vinegar, soy sauce or tamari, all herbs or spices.
Tea
Herbal teas, green tea.
Other Beverages
Water, lemon water, pure unsweetened fruit and vegetable juices, rice milk
