i just learned of it and was sold the second i read, "it has a slightly cheese-y flavor." i am all over cheese! i heard that vegetarians, mostly, use it on foods of all kinds to give it more vitamins, proteins, and delicious flavorings. what do you think of it?

I knew someone who used to sprinkle it on their popcorn. Its good for making mac and "cheese", and on thanksgiving my friend made a wicked gravy out of nutritional yeast.

Also, great on pita pizzas in place of cheese. (As was suggested to me by a fellow CCer)

I would agree it does have kind of a cheesy flavor.  I, personally, don't care much for it.  I haven't used it for mac and "cheese."  Maybe it's better that way.  I prefer sea salt on my popcorn.

I used in homemade veggie burgers. I think it can be used in place of parmesan cheese.

it's high in b12 and i use it on everything. if you make tofu scrambles ( i don't know if you do or not) it's really good if you put a little handful in while cooking.

but if you do cook it realize that your not really getting the health benefits.

It's high in many B vitamins and has all the essential amino acids.  I wish I could acquire the taste for it.

i love me some nooch :) it's really kind of a nutty-cheesy flavor. similar to really sharp cheddar i guess (but it's been a long time since i had real cheese so i don't really know.) at any rate, it tastes good!

I use it at least 3 times a week...

on homefries
on tofu scramble
in "cheese" sauces
on popcorn
in stirfry
thrown in the food processor with some cashews, lemon juice, and garlic for fake parmesan.

It's delicious.

Yeah!! This stuff is soo amazing!! And has so many uses!! We use it on popcorn, on our pizzas, for our mac n cheeze recipes and so much more! I even discovered this snack called "tings", a corn crunchy stick. So amazing!! It tastes like cheetos kinda..its that yummy corn taste with the nutritional yeasts that give it that cheezy flavor!! Yumo!!

For a super easy and low calorie "cheezy"sauce mix equal parts nutritional yeast and pickle juice.  Adjust proportions to your preferred consistency.

The first time I cooked with nutritional yeast, I put so much into my ratatouille that it burned my tongue, and I had to throw the entire dish away.

Use sparingly.

It's definitely awesome for "Mock'n Cheese" but i tried it the other night with crisps and it was pretty nasty (I always seem to get a runny consistancy).

I've had good experiences using it as a sub in my squash casserole around the holidays, and it's really good in combination with egg substitutes in pretty much any other vegan casserole :]
