anybody ever try FucoThin?
it's made by Garden of Life. this is what the web site says:
fücoTHIN is a natural, whole food based supplement that is made with a proprietary concentration of fucoxanthin combined with pomegranate seed oil, for a patent-pending formula that is naturally thermogenic. fücoTHIN has been studied by leading scientists for many years and is the only formula that has human clinical research to confirm its thermogenic effect.
it sounds good to me, but i wanted to know if anyone else tried it and got results? Dr. Mercola endorses it
Thanks for the info. I didn't know you could up the dosage - and I did want to know. I am going to try taking two at lunch instead of one. I am feeling some what looser in clothing and especially jewelry (rings slip off!). Cant wait till those too small jeans do the same!! Thanks again.
Well, I just ordered me some and came here to see what everyone has to say about it. I will let you all know how it works.
I have already purchased a second bottle. Give it a full six to eight weeks of everyday usage. I lowered my calories with seattle sutton for a couple of weeks as well. Now I am trying to get 45 minutes of brisk walking in every day - but...there's so many excuses.
I usually don't try diet pills, but I started the FucoThin today since it is natural and I am an avid user of Garden of Life products. I only have about 15 lbs I want to lose now and once you hit a plateau after exercise and calorie restrictions, I don't see anything wrong with trying a pill as long as it's natural. Seaweed is really good for you and so it Pomegranate. When you take anything natural you need to do some research on it first and it is always advised to stop any type of herbal supplement before having surgery. Usually because they thin the blood. I have heavy periods anyways so this won't bother me.
As far as trying something because Oprah buys stock in it, well you have your opinion on diet pills and I have my opinion on Oprah. She diets and exercises and well, she's still big. Maybe she should try FucoThin too! As far as my opinion of Oprah, it's best left unsaid.
I just started it 3 days ago. I liked the science and clinical trial results, and since I am post menapause with 3 kids - still carrying 30 lbs - I need some help. I can feel the difference already and it hasn't affected sleep. I have high hopes.
Today is the beginning of the fifth week. My clothes are a bit looser, jewelry, etc. But you can see it in my face? Please design supplement that removes butt fat!!! I suppose if I stuck to my walking it would come off and this is slow. I can feel it though. I am taking two in the morning and two at lunch and one in the evening. Still don't feel any warmer. Haven't really lowered calories that much but portion sizes are close to normal. As soon as I am thru with week 8, I will post again. Three more weeks. *I will be sure to stick with this with the holidays fast approaching - halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas. Love candy corn. Good luck to all dieters and seaweed cap takers.
i have been taking fucothin for a week and a half...of course its way to early to tell. but this has to have been one of the most stressful weeks i've had in awhile , so i have not been very faithful to my lowfat diet ..but i have notice that i have not gotten my normal "stress cravings" that i normally get and i just feel fuller faster .. so i ordered another bottle from vitacost so that i can have more on hand . I was just wondering if i need to increase my dosage to 2 caplets three times a day ?? anyone got any suggestions??
Thanks for the info on the higher dos - I've been taking 5-6/day - how do you know that this accelerates results? from experience, guessing or is it documented somewhere?
never diet on previous page posted that the dosage can be safely upped but not after 7pm. not sure if there were any trials done to back this up. ?? It has been 5 weeks for me and yes, it is working. somehow. I guess. Clothes that were barely fitting are very loose. YES. It's still a bit soon; there are still 3 more weeks. I have somehow managed to subsist on less than 1400 calories a day. ??? Not like me. And I don't have the mean snack attacks at 3 or 4 pm where I inhale boxes of cookies and chips without a breath in between. Thats good. This is something I have dealt with for a very long time and I cannot expect results within 3 weeks. Too many people give up. Its just a capsule. I can do this. I am glad they dont cost over $100 a bottle - like most prescriptions that have such side effects that you must wear dark clothing. So this one aint bad. I AM STICKIN TO IT !!!
HELP!!! i weighed myself today for the first time since i started taking fucothin and i have GAINED 4 lbs .. but !!!! i have not been actually dieting .. i have cut back on my portions and i am walking a mile and a half on my lunch break ..and drinking water .. so since it has only been 31/2 wks since i started i would like to give it a faithful try before i add them to my collection of diet pills . so can anyone who is actually losing weight on this stuff tell me if they are doing the lowfat or low carb- or are they just cutting down the portions????
Hi,
when i first began fucothin I also ordered two weeks of seattle sutton's 1200 calories a day prepared meals. I needed to learn what normal portion sizes were for 1200 calories, along with snack amounts, etc. What a surprise. For the first 4 weeks - it didn't seem as if anything was happening. My wedding rings became quite loose but nothing noticable, really. Since August 18th I have probably lost 4 to 5 pounds. Not a huge amount. But I feel there are only 15 more to go. I will be happy with 10 but estatic with 15 !! I hear the term "lifestyle change. " This is it. My lifestyle had been eating whatever and whenever. Now I must change. I have been overweight for 10 years. It's going to take some time. And I have been watching the carb to protein ratio. Trying to eat meals that have a protein amount close to the carb count. NO DIET COLAS !! NOTHING WITH CORN SYRUP. JUST WATER or FUZE. I am going to decrease calories by 150 to 200 and see if that helps for a couple weeks. And walk the malls more in the evening. I have noticed the desire to eat 40 cookies within a second is gone. Yes, I used to do that. Whole pizzas. Two reubens. Three huge bowls of buttered noodles. Stick to it. Lifestyle changes. For the future. For now I notice my cholesterol, blood pressure, triglycerides were inching up there...now it's gonna stop. Good Luck Hang in there.
Mitochondrial uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) is usually expressed only in
brown adipose tissue (BAT) and a key molecule for metabolic
thermogenesis to avoid an excess of fat accumulation. However, there is
little BAT in adult humans. Therefore, UCP1 expression in tissues other
than BAT is expected to reduce abdominal fat. Here, we show reduction
of abdominal white adipose tissue (WAT) weights in rats and mice by
feeding lipids from edible seaweed, Undaria pinnatifida. Clear signals
of UCP1 protein and mRNA were detected in WAT of mice fed the Undaria
lipids, although there is little expression of UCP1 in WAT of mice fed
control diet. The Undaria lipids mainly consisted of glycolipids and
seaweed carotenoid, fucoxanthin. In the fucoxanthin-fed mice, WAT
weight significantly decreased and UCP1 was clearly expressed in the
WAT, while there was no difference in WAT weight and little expression
of UCP1 in the glycolipids-fed mice. This result indicates that
fucoxanthin upregulates the expression of UCP1 in WAT, which may
contribute to reducing WAT weight.
How much undria pinnatifida is in the seaweed product ???
A research paper presented at last week?s American Chemical Society
meeting by Japanese researchers demonstrated the potential for white
fat tissue (WAT) reduction by adding fucoxanthin from brown marine
vegetables to the diets of experimental animals. Even more promising
research is pending publication in the Russian Academy of Natural
Sciences. In this new, human clinical trial, a patent-pending extract
of fucoxanthin showed promising results for fat loss in humans. This
double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 140 obese female demonstrated
statistically significant reduction in liver fat, body fat and body
weight versus placebo after 16 weeks. This study is pending
publication by the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and was recently
presented for National Academy Scientific Award for the best clinical
trial of the year.
Ok there is 5 mg of fucoxanthin in each capsule and the study went on for 16 weeks. I have at least 10 weeks more to go. I wish they would report how much of this they took. And did they take fucothin or just a fucoxanthin products?
Just curious how you're going to make out with this. So I'm subscribing to this thread. Please keep posting your findings and of course your results! Good luck.
I've finished 2 weeks so far; double dose at breakfast and lunch - so I'm taking 5 tablets a day. I sleep well, and feel good. I am counting cals, ringing in about 1400/day and exercising 3 x week with a water running class at the Y. Occasionally up to 2000 when I have a glass of wine and pizza, and relax. It's quite do-able and very much my normal eating routine. Over the last 2 weeks I've lost 3 lbs, no big deal. The results are not supposed to kick in for another month, (I'm not sure why it takes so long, and there doesn't seem to be an explanation that I can find on why this is so) but I am sticking with it. I believe the science behind the product, it appears credible and I have checked it out with experts and it is legit. There seems to be a wave of 'diss-ing' it on various sites but it is just buzz from people who appear not to be paying attention to the real results of trials, nor have realized this is a natural nutrient so I am not paying attention to people who are having a knee jerk reaction and calling this a fad. In fact, this and CLA are the ONLY natural weight reduction nutrients that actually have clinical trials. I take both. I do drink green and white tea, and some chai with soy. I have never taken diet pills or any other aid and frankly, wouldn't tinker with my metabolism in that way. I am subscribing to this post as the product is early to market (it just became available over the last few months) and I am interested in the results others are getting. I am also looking forward to reading the clinical trial report, when it is published, which I believe is slated for Nov 2007.
Hi and good for you yodelmar !! I can tell I have lost weight - but since I am more sedentary, it is slower than slow and I am trying to keep calories down to 1300 or less with emphasis on proteins and less carbs. It is difficult !! I have been on low calorie diets many many times and have had abysmal results. Just nothing. And back then I was doing alot of working out, dance classes, speed walk, all that - to lose 4 pounds in 3 months? forget it. some of my very snug fitting jeans are lose. That's all I want. But now greed has taken over. I want them falling off. I began fucothin on 08-18-07. two capsules at breakfast (with my two cups of coffee) and two at lunch (lean cuisine under 250 cals is all I eat now) and maybe one later. depends. If you could only get results by eating the darn brown seaweed daily - I would do it. Cooked spinach looks alot like it and I love cooked spinach. But since they have mashed it into a capsule I can handle it. I wonder...can I just take it forever?
Congrats! That means this is your 7th week, right? So you should be seeing results starting now - can I ask how much you have lost on it in the 7 weeks? Sounds like we are on similar regimes. My thought is that this won't really be for life- since once the weight is off, its just maintenance. I have not problem maintaining - I've had this 30 lbs for 4 years since the birth of my twins! :-) I do want to hear about dosage - inttuitively a 250 lbs person may require more than an 125 lbs person.
Thank you and Congrats to you too! I am not sure how much I have lost - I threw my scale away after using jennycraig. It became an obsession!! I know I have lost two sizes: from a snug 14 to a loose 10. I know, I can tell. But it's still a very short amount of time to see the real results. Many people say, "it's probably just water loss." Hey, thanks. And that can be true. So until the day comes when those really really tight fitting jeans just slip off - I am not weighing myself. I, too, am trying to lose "baby" weight: my baby is 22!!
More info does need to be listed, but in the study they claim it was of 140 'obese women'; well, how obese?? And it continued for 16 weeks. Fine. I'll do it. But how much? How often? Were they 25 pounds over? 50? More info please.
I will be sure to keep posting at each milestone. The first was seeing cheekbones appear. That's been awhile! And rings slipping off - was a bit concerned with losing wedding ring set.
I wonder if taking something like a carb or fat control would speed things up? I have tried to order dieter's choice for carb control from euro pharmacy and coast herbal and the item was never shipped. Made from white beans and no nasty affects like Alli which also takes a good 5 months for 15 pound loss.
Will keep trying. You too. Hang in there.
