anybody ever try FucoThin?

Quote  |  Reply
it's made by Garden of Life. this is what the web site says: fücoTHIN is a natural, whole food based supplement that is made with a proprietary concentration of fucoxanthin combined with pomegranate seed oil, for a patent-pending formula that is naturally thermogenic. fücoTHIN has been studied by leading scientists for many years and is the only formula that has human clinical research to confirm its thermogenic effect.

it sounds good to me, but i wanted to know if anyone else tried it and got results? Dr. Mercola endorses it

I think angie is the type of person who lumps all diet pills into a catagory and thinks she needs to sound off against those who may use them. She likely did not read any of the thread. She also did not do any research. Angie motivates herself by flaming others. It makes her feel like she has all the answers. She had nothing of value to add to the discussion.

I read the entire thread and saw an amazing amount of anecdotal evidence (ie. worthless) without a single link to a reliable study. I also saw your posts in which you questioned the complete lack of evidence and in the very same post admitted you were taking it.

This contradiction was made even more confusing when you decided that a single persons personal results (your own) were somehow evidence that this product works.

Until I see a single reliable (peer reviewed and published) human study these pills stay in my personal category of expensive weight loss scam.

For those that would like to see a temporary increase in metabolism at a vastly decreased cost...About.com has some simple ideas:

http://healing.about.com/od/herbaltherapy/a/w eightlossherbs.htm

There is simply no substitute for a healthy diet and exercise. No magic pills, no get out of jail free cards and no short cuts.

With regard to enthusiastic posters raving about the benefits, a quick check of a persons journals and posting history usually reveals a tendency to be  a 'fad' junkie.

Good luck to everyone making the effort to get healthier.

It appears that the naysayers have impacted the conversation and brought it to a halt. Please, if you're opposed to Fucothin, that's fine. But I certainly don't see the point of reading the whole thread and being critical of those of us who are doing our best to lose weight for the sake of our health and well being. If Fucothin is helping us do that and we post about that, and we are encouraging each other, have the courtesy not to criticize just because you disagree with what we're doing. There are many other forums that you might find more to your liking and approval.

That said, for those of you who might be interested, I've lost 5 pounds. For me, that's notable. How are y'all doing? I'd be happy to hear from you.

I don't think fucoxanthin is a magical pill.  Why do so many critics keep saying that?  As I stated, a peer review study has not been published.  As far as a contradiction, I decided to do a personal trail, to see if it would enhance my program.  In 12 weeks, I have loss 30 pounds and over six inches of my mid section.  I don't know what percentage of that is fucoxanthin, but I am satisfied with my results.  If you read, you may note, that fucoxanthin may be able to trigger the expression of UCP1 in WAT.  If that is happening, it is very unique, because UCP1 does not normally express in WAT.  Burning WAT is difficult and a product that safely enhances the burning of WAT, is worth taking.  Fucoxanthin is a promising natural supplement, not a magic pill.
Talk about a contradiction, you claim no substitute to diet and exercise, but link to a supplement site by a holistic healer, that provides zero scientific evidence to any of her claims.   I would rather defer to the scientists who did the (yet to be published) human fucoxanthin studies, than a clairvoyant intuitive counselor.

ATTENTION:   The sites that sell a seaweed gel cap for $23 a bottle is their own version.  NOT FUCOTHIN.  I have not taken any other product other than the garden of life product.
I believe most prices average $30-35 a bottle for fucothin.

I drank only coffee or water. I eliminated many carbs such as pasta, pizza, crackers, chips, white breads/rolls, wine, ice cream,  colas, juice,  only veggie burgers with half whole wheat roll.  I ate more salad than I care to recall. Fruit.  Lean meat.  And portion size.  This is so important.
I did this for six weeks before I noticed it happening.  I continued.  I persevered. I was determined.  I wanted pizza and ice cream so bad.
I did continue with my choc chip cookie thing.  But  I drastically cut down on those as well.  NO PEANUT BUTTER.  NO.  NONE.  NO SITTING IN FRONT OF TV EVER WITH FOOD. NEVER!   Just water.  Parties were difficult at times.  But people saw I was losing weight.  I could walk away from those tables loaded with mind numbing FAT and CALORIES with more ease.
A "treat" for me was my bottle of Fiji water. whoohoo.  No pies. No candy. No wine. No pork. No sausages. No bacon.  I am at 134 and had not seen that weight since my old jenny days in 1992?

Oh, I forgot.  My BP went down a few points too.  That's whats most important to me.

Wahoo, strikez and luv2diet! I am thrilled for your success, and I'm encouragedby you to keep on going with eating well, exercising and the boost of fucothin. I eat no sugar, and have cut out white starches. I do eat plenty of fresh and lightly cooked veggies, modest amounts of lean protein, whole grains, and fruit. Water, water, water. And a little coffee, black. Luv2diet is right about portion size. I had to cut back.

 (edit: removed paragraph)

I'm thankful for the apparent help that fucothin is giving me. It's not magic. It takes hard work and discipline. But it does make the hard work and discipline have effect, something that I have tried, tried, tried before with no results. I'll let you know how things go. It sure is helpful to hear good things from others!

CVS has Sea-Thin (the exact same thiong a Fuco-thin) at 29.99 / 90.

The LEF is also the same as Fuco-Thin.

All use 200mg of Xanthigen that contains 5mg of fucoxanthin.

I started Fucothin on February 12th. I am in my 4th week at weight watchers, I lost 3.4 lbs in the first 3 weeks but it was really discouraging because I worked out like crazy..Im talking a couple hours a day almost everyday, and I ate tons and tons of veggies and really followed. I know WW works but I cant wait to see if there are MORE results on fucothin and weight watchers.  I am 6'0'' 157lbs and want to get down to about 143 so we will see how it goes!

I will keep ya updated!

It takes a good six weeks for fucoxanthin to start working.  So it takes patience.
I've been on it for almost 4 weeks now. Havent seen anything quite yet, but I just got my second bottle today so I will keep it up! I am hopeful! Thank you everyone on here for being so reassuring and sharing your stories, otherwise I probably would have just assumed the whole thing just didn't work for me. I'll post again in a couple weeks about whether or not it has taken effect. Wish me luck!

I'm in my 7th week of taking Fucothin, eating very carefully, and exercising. I'm doing 50 minutes/day on the treadmill. I lost 8 1/2 lbs after a month, then gained 4 back and keep losing those and gaining them back. It's frustrating, because I'm eating so carefully. No sugar, no white carbs, etc. Moderate portions. Drinking water. I hoped that getting past 6 wks. on fucothin would start more weight loss! I am able to wear jeans I hadn't been able to wear for months, so that's good. I'm not giving up, and I think the fucothin is helpful, especially with controlling appetite.

Any tips from those of you who have had more success? Thanks.

Well, things are looking up! At this point I've lost a total of 13 lbs, which is more success than I've ever had with weight loss for this amount of time. Many times before, I have eaten as carefully and exercised as I am now without any or very little weight loss. I am convinced it is the Fucothin that is making the difference.

Anybody still following this thread?

I am still following this thread.  I am glad fucoxanthin is working for you.   I am still taking it.  I am approaching 40 pound since I started in November.  I still got 10 more pounds to lose.  I will likley discontinue use of fucoxanthin when I finish my current supply.

I am still keeping my eye out for the study to be published.

I am following the thread but have not been having much success. I still take Fucothin, exercise, eat well but I regained 4 of my 8 lb loss and am having a hard time being disciplined about portion control, chocolate and tracking calories. I am great for 4-5 days then fall off. I'm frustrated with myself since I do know what to do, I am just finding it hard to stay focused. good news tho  - my jeans still feel loose so I think part of the lb gain might be muscle.

I need a big dose of inspiration.  Strikez - you are are inspiring! Luve2diet - how's it going with you?

Wow, Strikez, way to go! 40 lbs. is awesome. That's very encouraging, and I know you'll finish off the final 10.

Yodelmar, I did the same thing and got discouraged, but I persisted and it finally came off and I started to lose more. Keep going! Have you tried using a smaller plate to help with portion control? Smaller portions look better on a smaller plate. I'm focusing on lots of veggies/salads and that fills you up without doing damage!

Yeah, Luv2diet, how are you doing? I'd like to get an update too!

Ok, I am back on the horse, and using smaller plates!
Hi everyone,
Holding at 134.  Still taking seaweed.  But more carbs and stuff too. Still not exercising !
Soon, when the weather is more for humans than polar bears, I want to start up the old diet again.  And see how low
 can  it  goooooooooooooo.

Glad to hear NO ONE has given up.  You cannot.  You will not succeed if you stopy trying.  Congrats to you Strikez!  Way to go!

Hi everyone. I have been following this thread for a while now. Overall, I think that the support and success has been good. Congratulations to all of you, posters and lurkers who have had success with incorporating healthier habits eating and otherwise. I think that is really what most of you seem to be working towards.

To bring you up to speed about me - I am 44 a year old female. I am vegetarian and have been for 16 + years. Quite a number of years back (5+?) I was diagnosed with under active thyroid. I have stubbornly refused to take Synthroid and have sought out healthier ways to bring my body into balance. July 2007 I began eating nearly 100% organic. I live alone and never regularly bought junk food. Only on occasion would I indulge in sweets. I never have bought or regularly ate processed foods, rarely eat out; never eat fast food and my beverage of choice for years has been water. If I do drink flavored drinks it is usually herbal (no caffeine) teas, occasionally sweetened with stevia. I never smoked and rarely ever drink alcohol.  Over the years I have off and on practiced Yoga. LOL reading all that I sound like a tree-hugging, hairy armpits new age freak!

10/07/07 I began taking Fucothin and watching what I ate. Several weeks ago I read Jordan Rubin’s book Perfect Weight America. He is the owner of the company that makes Fucothin. To support this diet he has also created a website found at PerfectWeightAmerica.com. For the last several weeks, since 2/11/08, I have followed his protocol, not that it is vastly different than my typical diet. I also have started a Kickboxing routine. Although, I have not been as faithful with it as I intend to. Especially this time of year, I do not get a lot of exercise. I do mow my own lawn and prefer to walk it rather than ride the ¾ acre. But, this is a much more sedentary time of year for me.

One of the more interesting points about the book and directly related to a comment here is Jordan’s supplement recommendation list in the back of the book. He does talk about and promote the use of Fucothin in the book. Under the Resources section in the back he recommends either taking Fucothin by Garden of Life (his own company) OR taking Sea-Thin the product Strikez mentioned as being available at CVS. After looking at the website for Sea-Thin and seeing the similar packaging, I was wondering if maybe Sea-Thin is manufactured by a sister company and really is Fucothin at a less expensive price.

Anyhow, since October I am down 7 pounds, which doesn’t sound like much. However, I am thrilled for several reasons. One is that the scale is moving in the right direction. Another is that I feel great. I am feeling better about what I eat. I am getting more exercise. I am feeling comfortable with the supplements I am taking. I am seeing health improvements.

I never have been one to yo-yo diet. I never have believed in starving or following diets that aren’t natural or considered healthy, but over the years my weight has crept up. I never have been happy with my body or how I look. Now, as I look back on it, it is humorous to me to think the body I detested years ago I would love right now. So instead I am practicing loving what I have and the healthy way I feel. Yes, I do want to weigh less, but that is not my sole focus. I am focused on taking care of me, body mind and spirit. I have had that attitude for many years, but it has been a process getting to how good I feel right now. It still is a process; I still have my negative moments. Though I certainly love myself a lot more now and it continues to grow.

I hope all of you on here continue to feel and look better. Thank you for the postings you have openly and generously shared. I am looking forward to hearing more about your successes.

Great going, everybody! Luv2diet, I'm happy to hear that your loss has remained stable even tho you haven't exercised. When you begin exercising, I bet you'll lose even more.

I haven't read Perfect Weight America but plan to see if my library has a copy. I'd probably learn a lot from reading it.

My jeans are getting looser, and I'm able to wear two pairs that I couldn't remotely get into before. Feels really good. The numbers are going down slowly, but they're moving in the right direction.

Keep going, everyone, and keep posting! It's good to hear from you.

Hi all. I'm almost 39, stay at home Mom to an 8 year old and a 4 year old. I want to lose 20-25 pounds before I turn 40 next year.

I have been reading the forum here. Think I've actually read every post now. LOL Some friends at church recommended Fucothin. The cost was a bit more than I could swing so I did some hunting.

I ordered 4 bottles of Fucoselean from iHerb at $13.49 a bottle. It has Fucoxanthin as well as Green tea, Chromium and a couple of other herbs. I'll start it this evening at dinner. I'll let you all know if it works as well as the Fucothin has for several of you. :)

That would be great!  I am also forwarding bottles to my daughter away at school and it's really getting costly !  Can't wait for the info, mslady.
