Can anyone answer this question?
Well today I decided to go Xmas shopping....yeah scary I know. I did this between 1 pm and 9 pm. I stopped twice for about 30 minutes to eat and the rest was pretty well walking...that is about 7 hrs of walking and my feet hurt pretty bad not to mention my back from walking on all that cement. My question is how do I log my exercise for today? CC does mention grocery shopping which I guess is the closest I am going to get to figure out my calories burned for that day. But when I figure that out it amounts to something like 650 calories....so if I ate around 1900 calories do I subtract 650 leaving me with a total of 1250 calories for the day. For some reason, this does not seem right.
While you may have burned 650 during that time from the walking/shopping, you didn't burn an additional 650.
Even if you set on the couch that entire 7 hours, you would have burned calories.
So, when you log it into your activity log, it will automatically determine how many additional calories you burned.
I don't know how many you normally burn on a sedentary level per day, so I'll make some numbers up just to demonstrate.
Let's say you normally burn 1800 calories per day at a sedentary level. That is 75 calories per hour. For 7 hours you were shopping, which burned 650.
So, if you had not went shopping those 7 hours you would have burned 75 x 7 = 525 calories, but since you went shopping you burned 650 calories, which is 125 more calories than normal.
As to where on a non-activity day your burn meter would show 1800, it would show 1925 calories after logging in the activity, if that is the only activity you logged in.
Make sense?
Hi proud mom of 2. It does make sense what you are saying but when I log in today that I shopped for 150 minutes it shows I burn 266 calories per hr. Normally I would burn on an average day about 2490 calories. Now it is showing that I burn 2900 calories today. That is 410 calories more than I would normally burn. So the deficit would be , considering my eat metre daily goal is 1700, 1200 calories for that day. Does that make sense to you? Maybe we are saying the same thing here ...lol...or I am really confused.
Also, thank you very much for taking the time to figure this out with me! and good luck on your weight loss too.

Your post makes sense except for the "when I log in today that I shopped for 150 minutes it shows I burn 266 calories per hr."
I am curious why you only logged in 150 mins if you went shopping for 7 hours. That would be 420 mins of shopping.
What is your activity level set on?
