I am just trying to see how i compare to people around my height, im 17, 5'1 and 115, i really really want to get to 100.. but it is taking a long time.. i want to be at least 100 if not like 95 by Feburary.. i think thats a reasonable goal.. any suggestions??

Hi there.  At 115 and 5'1", you are at a healthy weight already!  However, I am not far off from your weight, height, and age (5'1.5", 107.5 lbs, and 18 years old) and I know I'll be stopping at 105.  For a girl my height (which is only 1/2 an inch taller than you!) 100 lbs is a BMI of 18.6... any more, and I'd be underweight.

For you, similarly, 100 lbs is a BMI of 18.9 - very close to the underweight "cut-off" of 18.5.  Furthermore, at 95 lbs you'd be VERY underweight and unhealthy... a BMI of 17.9!  :( 

So - you're having trouble losing weight because you are very close to, if not already at, the point where your body is healthiest.  I urge you not to lose more than 10 lbs... if you are still unhappy with your body, strength training and muscle toning can help your body to look tighter and fitter. 

Best of luck with staying healthy and reaching more reasonable goals.  Please do not undereat!  Teenagers are supposed to have 1500 calories a day at least.

I am also 5'1" and 115 is my ultimate goal weight, and at a very healthy bmi for women our height.  If you are unhappy with your body I suggest on working on toning rather than losing weight.

I am 5'1 and I weigh 133.5

I recently lost 7 lbs. just in October alone and my goal weight is 116. You don't want to be 100 lbs. think about how skinny that would be. I know your short so being petite just happens and it doesn't look bad being on the skinnier side, but be careful going for that low of weight. I think 115 is a good weight or even if you want to go lower maybe try 107 or something, be careful!

Hey, I'd have to agree with the other posts. I've seen people around five foot at 100-105 pounds and they're pretty skinny looking but if you're that short you can pull it off, somewhat. The problem is that they all look like little girls and not like women or even teenagers. So dropping to 95 pounds really is probably not going to look very good. I'm about your height and am your age and can testify that going that low (i've been there) is not pretty. You look sick and like a little kid. I think you're at a healthy weight but if you really want to lose then I'd shoot more for 110 or even 105 (but no lower)! Best of luck!

I am adding another nod to the others. I am 5 feet even, my weight at your age was around 108. In hindsight, I was way too thin for my build. 115 is a perfect weight for me. If you are not happy with how your body looks, I suggest toning to a more desirable shape. But it is very unhealthy, esp for a woman, to have such a low BMI. I really think way too much emphasis is placed on teenage girls. I'm horified at what girls your age feel you must do to be attractive. Look in the mirror and see the beautiful girl looking back at you, you really are perfect as you are.

Hi : D I'm 16 and I'm 5'1". Last time i checked, which was two years ago lol, I was 110 lbs so I have no idea what i am now. I think 100 would be OK for you although it really depends on your body type. 95 would be way too skinny and unhealthy unless you are naturally thin boned. Also remember that you could lose mass in fat as well as gain it in muscle ( like me : O). Check your BMI : )

Ha, I'd DIE to weigh as much as you do.

I'm 5'2" and 101.2.  I really want to be around 90 (I get criticized for that goal a lot).  But I think 100 is definitely reasonable for you if you have a small frame like I do.

thanks for everyones opinions.. i probably should have added that I dance.. a lot.. i am on my schools dance team and we practice 5 days a week and then i also go to my studio 3 days a week after dance team practice.. so i am pretty damn active but i cant get rid of this like excess weight.. i am eating around 1100 to 1300 calories a day.. and it is hard for me to get in more then that with my schedule.. so i dont know why i am not losing weight

 

I'm 5'1" and about 120 pounds, I'd say I'm pretty thin but I still have curve to my body I get a lot of compliments.. I think if you were less than 115 at 5'1" you'd look like a skeleton. You probably arn't loosing because your body dosen't want you to loose any more.

OKay. I am 159cm. Almost around that range. My weigh is 47kg. I am 21 years old and also a mother of 2 boys. i wanna be 45kg.

This forum is sad. Almost all of your "goal weights" are underweight.

I'm 16, 5'1" and small-framed, I carry my weight mostly in my lower half (even at my highest weight of 145 my boobs were never bigger than a 36A). I'm currently 103 and satisfied. My preference or "happy weight" is anywhere between this and 110. Anything lower is just a little too thin for me.
