Weight Loss

I'm just wondering how other peoples' plateaus have ended. I've been at 152 for 2+ weeks and just wondered how/when is it gonna end? Do they end with you losing like 5 pounds immediately or when you lose like .5 lb is that considered "the end" of the plateau? Any inspiration would be nice...I guess i can live vicariously through other peoples' weight loss hahahaha!!!

Hey, i've gone through like 2 platueas, the first one lasting at least a month... the second lasting like a week... Mine ended when I found the little things I was doing wrong, like not exercising enough, too much junk, etc. I didn't automatically lose a bunch of weight, just started to lose again. Hope that helps
take care
take care
thank you. that makes sense.
I haven't broken the plateau yet, but I did find that I didn't adjust my calories after my initial weight loss. SOOOO...I just did that and am hoping to break my plateau
I am on a plateau right now and have always wondered about whether you loose whole bunch of weight at the end or do you just see a .5 lb loss. I hope not that would be very discouraging.
I was on a month long plateau.. I was very disappointed so one weekend while helping my friends move, I ate like crap.. I got back on the wagon monday and for a few days I was an ANGEL!! Then by wednesday, the plateau was broken!
See I'm afraid that if I do that and it doesn't work I would set my self back all those calories.
yeah i'm afraid of that too. I just keep hopin (in vain) that i'll wake up one day and 5 lbs will be gone.hahaha. I gotta hope other wise i would be real pissed off about kickin my own ass all this time for nothing! i'm working really hard here!!
I'm on a plateau right now, and I'm sooooo not the most patient person in the world.
I've heard you have to 'shock' your body. Have I just become too complacent in my wokout? Or is a deficit of 900 cals putting my body into 'starvation' mode.
Or I could be gaining muscle and not seeing it... Ah, this plateau is hurting my head.

had a three week plateau, and ended up bingeing for around 4 days, still keeping up exercise etc. outcome was that i did not gain or lose, am now on day three of returning to a more sensible diet and hope that i will start to lose
will let you alls know

well i finally broke mine i think. i was a half pound lighter this morning so i guess that answers my question i guess. I should be happy about this but i'm just kinda blah...disappointed i guess. I was hopin maybe more weight would come off at once. oh well maybe tomorrow? or maybe i'll throw this damn scale in the garbage!! haha
don't worry guys it'll happen. i recently came off a 4-5 day plateau, first i dropped half a pound then the other half the next day. (after a wacky water weight gain/loss)
liz, don't be discouraged - i'm also very impatient. you may actually be "starving" your body.. because i think 900 cals is too much of a defecit. apparently you should do 500 from how much you usally burn, so i'd increase a lot, especially if you';re trying to break the plateau.
but for all of you, don't worry and stick with it! this works for me and maybe not everyone, but i'd say just increase your cals much more for a couple of days, AND your excercise - it works like a charm! that way you don't have to worry about putting on weight if it doesn't work right away.. but it totally puts your metabolism in high gear.
good luck all

I just ended a five week one
Yeah, maybe I'll try to have a smaller deficit.
Of course, I'm not on a plateau anymore. I went on a week vacation, and came back 1.5 lbs heavier! >.<
Hey body, is that a big enough shock? lol

lol that 1.5 pound gain could be the best thing that ever happened. watch the pounds fall off now!
I find that when I plateau, I'm in for a big drop pretty quick once it does break. I was at 162 for what seemed like a month or so, but when I broke it, I started dropping again pretty steady. Now I'm at 150 (on the nose!) and within 10-15 pounds of my goal.
I've been moving up and down between 170 and 173 for almost a month now... and decided today to take action. Referring back to Body -for-Life and Curves, I began eating a higher protein meal plan today. I'm eating protein with a bit of carbohydrate at every meal or snack. Frankly, I'm finding it difficult to eat all my calories, as I am much more satisfied today.
If my plateau doesn't break in a couple of days, I'm going to increase my daily calories from 1200 to 1500 for the rest of the week.
Hope your plateau ends tomorrow! (and mine too!)
