did anyone say 'bye bye' to a few foods?

Eh, I don't mean you sat some food down and explained that it wasn't them, it was you (even thought you knew it was them) I mean, did anyone make a 'ban' list or just decide to never eat certain foods again? (Or, at least in moderation)

Before I started my diet, I did A LOT of reasearch and reading (like many of you prolly have) and I got a wee bit annoyed with certain things about food coorporations. So, I said goodbye to all fast food resturants (besides my local pizza place and chinese resturant) as well as a large amount of other foods, which I can confidently say had something to do w/ my weight problem. I permantly gave up candy, gum, ice cream and soda, starbucks and pancakes, as well as a bunch of other things. Soda seemed to be the easiest, and now I kind of like the non-existant sort of way water tastes.  Mc. Donalds was also easy to give up, now I get a little sick when I smeel their food.

I said bye bye to my everythng /sesame/ raisin, ok any kind of bagels with cream cheese--a breakfast/lunch staple since I was a kid!! Sad sad moment--I don't truly miss it but sometimes I indulge just as a treat. Also, takeout from Mexican restaurants as well as Chinese. Also, potato chips--a true downfall! I have always been a water drinker but I did give up my afternoon diet coke or soda habit. Thankfully I didn't have to give up my Dunkin Donuts flavored coffee though I have started using Splenda. Have't given up 1/2 and 1/2 though--just sacrificed elsewhere! Good luck with everything and doing well here!
I pretty much said bye-bye to all processed foods and all refined sugars. I used to be a real junk food addict, but have changed my ways.
I went through a phase where I ate nothing white..  no sugars of any kind and no meat or seafood..   my rule was.. if it had a face, I did not eat it..

and..  of course..  no alcohol...

so there I was..  a once in a lifetime trip to France...  Paris, marseille, nice..  the pyrennes..   spain..  etc. etc..

Not one glass of wine..  not one pastry..    what an idiot

But.. thats what I thought I had to do.. cause I was so scared of food..  and I thought that was the only way I could control it..

So now..  NO..  I will eat anything I want to.. in moderation..  sensibly.. within my plan.. once in a while.
Mainly just fast food and pizza.  I still have them on
occassion...but on RARE occassion.  I'd rather fill my calories
with fruits, veggies, and whole grains than a big mac.  Though big
mac's ARE delicious.
Drinks.

And I don't mean alcoholic drinks. I mean, sodas, cofee, everything but tea. It's always water or tea--I just can't bear the thought of wasting calories now on a drink when it could be contributing to my meal. maybe a diet coke/dr.pepper if it can't be avoided, but otherwise no more drinks.

Other things, I might say I've given up... but this is something that I really, really mean. I just can't bear to waste those calories.
Pretzels. Definitely pretzels. I used to eat them every single day because I was made into thinking they were a healthy snack (but hey, it's a great alternative if you're craving something salty, like the forever banned potato chips).
I gave up on fast foods (McDonald's, Kfc, burger king, etc.) for three years now. When I do have to go with family, I always either order a salad or nothing at all. I haven't had pizza for a year now. I'm back to having cookies though : ( which is not a good thing. So yea, I gave up on a lot of things but I do have cake at times.
I haven't really given up anything except soda but I still have about 1 can a week overall and I still eat fast food; I just know the calories and how much I can have, i'm at 178 now and started at 190 and that is by having not one home cooked meal (Im traveling in cali for 3 months); so I personally don't think it matters as much what you eat as opposed to the quantity and calories/fat contained in it.

I have had dairy queen, mcdonalds, el pollo loco, carls jr.....just gotta make sure you stay under cals, If I go overboard say by 100 cals then I exercise the 100 away and still get to enjoy what I want.

Im eating about 1800 cals daily. If you want some ideas let me know, it's worked really well for me.
All fast food with the exception of Wendys Salad which I eat with no dressing and only when I didnt have time to make a dinner for work or had nothing to  make which is rare... Regular special coffees, now I get that low/no fat with skim milk.. Noodles.. I love noodles, especially this brand called mama noodles. They are so good but loaded with sodium and fat..A ton of processed food with the exception of low fat turkey breast from the local deli..
i havnt really said properly bye bye to them because luckily i dont like stuff like pizza,burgers,crisps,chips...so they are easy to avoid its the chocolate and cake section that i find harder to resist....
The list of foods I've bid goodbye grows longer.  Here they are in the order in which I gave them up.  And no, I don't miss them.

soda
caffeine
almost all sugar
salty lunch meats
deep fried anything
white rice
things made with white flour
butter
big sandwiches
gravy

And the list of foods I used to eat a lot of and now limit

pasta
potatoes
olive oil
cheese
dried fruit
nuts
salt
I'm with finewine78 (to the best of my knowledge, we're trying to lose weight in the same way).. I said goodbye to McD's, Boston Market and other fast food, and I don't miss that.
I've also said goodbye to greasy foods like Greasy Burgers, Chicken Wings, Mozzerella Sticks, Jalapeno Poppers, etc., except for on veeeeerry rare occasions.

I've replaced them with healthier, more whole foods. :)
I gave up pop and fast food, except for Subway which I have every Friday night.
I gave up soda, which elimanated a lot of sugar out of my deit.  I have not made a list, I just try to eat things in moderation.
i gave up margaritas. and daquiris.

that sounds funny, but when you realize how many calories are in those, it's frightening.

i also gave up fast food breakfast.
I used to have a pop-tart or krispy kreme donut for breakfast almost everyday. I have to admit, I do miss them a li'l but not enough to eat them again, and if I do it will be PLANNED. I try to make ALL my cheats planned as to never go over me "to lose" calories.
I tried not to cut out anything completley because its like if my mind know I am on a diet then I will fail.  I am trying to keep it a secret from it....ssshhhhhh!  But I did stop drinking pop and juice...all I drink is water tea anc crystal light.  I do shy away from fried foods though.
I gave up non-diet soda, fried foods, Chinese takeout, and fast food - except for Quizno's, which I love madly and still eat once a week, though just a small Turkey Lite now.

I was shocked by how many calories are in poptarts and muffins from Harris Teeters' bakery (around 480 for both pastries or one muffin - yikes), so I reluctantly gave them up as well. Everything else I just eat in moderation!
I gave up all animal products which is a big one. (Helped the weight melt off too!) My parents work for Frito Lay and I have decided they just can't bring over any chips because if they are in the house I am going to eat ALOT of them.  There is nothing I deny myself completely though. My motto is "if it's Vegan I'll eat it" but I keep the fatty and sweet foods to tiny amounts. Also started drinking my coffee black. I know a lady who refuses to drink anything that has calories in it. She always says "I like to EAT my calories" and I agree with her unless the calorie laden drink is wine or beer. In that case keep them coming!
