Has anyone checked out other diet website like fitday or sparkpeople??

Quote  |  Reply
Hi,

I've been looking for a weight tracker tool on this site but not much.  Not even any graphs or charts to track progress.  Are there any other worthy online diet trackers out there?  I hear of fitday, sparkpeople, and traineo.

Whats your opinion of this site vs. others??

I tried sparkpeople before I came here.
This site is more user-friendly in my opinion.  I always had navigation problems before; I love it here, the tools are easy to find, easy to use, and the support from other members is just great.

I used to use fitday and I liked the nutrient profile, but felt that the way you add your food is a bit cumbersome... and there's no community

My employer has a sparkpeople group, and I guess it's OK, but I have already gotten used to this site and have lots of connections here, so I didn't want to switch over just to spend more time with coworkers

:)

I also like how the owners of this site take our input and try to improve the site the way we ask them to... They are hotties great guys. ;)
I found fitday before I found CC, so I've kept my food log  there, but get a lot of help from the community and some of the tools here.
*chuckles* I guess I'm curious to see if anyone actually says the other sites are better, when, you know, posted on this one.

I've done Sparkpeople. There are things I really liked about Sparkpeople, like the Stages and all the Ready-made articles, but I think out food log is better, our recipe analyzer better and our community FAR better.
i did fitday, and am having much more sucess here. it has so many more tools and motivation. i felt alone on fitday, and here i realize im one of many going threw the same things. thanks for the site!

The owners of this site.....they are hotties great guys. ;)

I am in total agreement, nomo.
Oh, and the tools and community rock too, obviously :) Wink

Some of the volunteer moderators aren't bad looking either ;)
*oggles*
Oh, I agree wholeheartedly, HK.
Fine lookin' bunch....

again, the tools and the community are far more user friendly and supportive here, in my opinion, but when all else fails....
eye candy. (NO calories in that candy! LOL)
CC has it all.
I didn't use fitday because it was a pay for services site... I used a paper notebook instead, b/c i'm a tight wad ;)

I do continue to use www.nutritiondata.com because they have more unprocessed foods in their data base and also can provide complete nutritional information on the food.  but they don't have the daily food log & analysis feature, so I manually add the food from there over here and tag it so I don't have to keep looking it up!  They also have a nice calculator with explanations so I compare what I get there to the calculators here.  Very close :)

I like Spark People articles and reference area on fitness and use it a lot.  And then found About.com's reference area.  So now I use both.  The best of Both Worlds!
jorge ~ we do have a weight log.
I have used fitday for tracking food but wasn't successful losing weight.  I think having the communities and dialog on this sight helps with motivation.
Yes, I use fitday. Sparkpeople is a little too..busy/messy/crowded for me.

I have used fitday in the past but found it lacking in variety of foods on the list and exercises.  It was hard to add exercises.  I liked the graphs and reports but I find this one a little more broad and easier to use.

Hey Jorge....

I agree...I use FitDay in conjunction with CC every day and have found it very useful to me. I like the graphs and everything on FitDay and love the community interaction here on CC, plus the grading system here at CC...you know if your food choices for the day are the right ones or not! I don't mind logging on to both programs...I have lost 64lb in 6 mo. doing this. Highly recommend the use of both!

Good luck!

I purchased the fitday program 3 years ago, so I am using that,  I came here and tried to track things but if I didn't know the gram amount I was SOL,

I dislike very much the format of this "forum" its one bigger forever long post, that makes it very very hard to navigate through (IMO) so I made my own board (link in my profile) not to replace this but in addition to. Just so I don't go crazy trying to find what I need! LOL...

So I chat here, and there, track my food on fit day and my exercise and weight on Calorie Count! LOL

I guess I jump all over the place

HUGS!

Krystie

I use both CC and sparkpeople. I have my favorite things with both sites. Over there it can seem overwhelming at first until you start learning your way around so I agree that CC is more user friendly, especially if you are not familiar with message boards in general.

I do like the fact that you can have teams over there public or private even and enjoy the reports of your progress esppecially when you can see you are coming under your goal line, very motivating.

I agree that CC's nutrition tracker is much easier to deal with and even though I like how SP tracks things I do find it bothersome over there so do not use it.

So basically I feel like I get a good balance using both sites.

Oh I forgot to mention journals..here you can set your privacy level which I love and there you cannot...at least not that I have found.

I started doing my cal counting on fitday and there were things I liked and things I hated - the one thing I hated was no one to talk to LOL

I also have used sparkpeople once.  I could never figure out how to add foods I ate and it got mad at me for working out every day it just didn't seem as user friendly as it is here.

I've been here over a year now and don't even have sparkpeople or fitday in my bookmarks anymore.

I even did weight watchers online and their forums are free to access but there is alot of hostility over there.  So Calore-count is my home away from home or actually its my home page

dbackerfan -- I also used to try to participate on the WW forums (I was a WW at Work member), but also found them to be very hostile and territorial.  The stuff that goes on around here is nothing compared to how some of those folks act -- and they are especially intolerant of newbies.

I have a fitday.com account -- I like the charts/graphs, but it really doesn't do anything more than CC+ does and adding foods is even more annoying on fitday
I looked at Sparkpeople and The Daily Plate and they had some interesting tools but when I come back here, CC Plus just looks cleaner, brighter and more user friendly to me.
I'm a CC addict and I have my own weight loss board :) I couldn't leave CC - it's helped me way too much!!
