I just took the oxidixer quiz in Jillian Michaels book and was rated as a fast oxidizer. So I'm supposed to eat 20% fat 50% protein and 30% carbs.
I kind of had a feeling there were too many carbs in my diet. However, I don't eat white bread or sugar, no pasta, potato, or rice. I think the things I have to drop on are going to be the fruit and the two slices of diet oat bread I have in the morning. Errr... ocaisionally I have 1/3 cup of barley and oat bran cereal at night. Golean cereal too.
I know I should not drop out the whole grains completely. I'm wondering about the fruit. If I drop bananas and oranges and just have limited strawberry and blueberries that would help.
I don't think the problem is my meals. It's more my snacks.
It's hard to find snacks that are both low cal and high protein. Anyone got any suggestions?

did the same test and Im an equal oxidizer. Do you like her book? I would say drop the night time snack. Fruit is great for you to eat first thing in the morning. Start off slowly trying to find what works best for you. On her website she gives ideas on how to get the right balance. Are you a member on her site too? If not I can pull some info for you.

ok I tried to but it wont let me. I did look up some snacks she has listed for fast oxidizers and one thing she has is almonds....eat lots of almonds. Another was a recipe for guacamole, I think this recipe is in the book too.

I really already knew I was this type of person but I was enjoying the carbs for awhile. I guess I'll have to make some adjustments. I did buy some almonds the other day... I'm thinking of eating some apple and maybe 1 tbs of peanut butter for a snack. I need the snacks to keep my blood sugar stable. I just need to eat stuff on the low glycemic index and be careful about what fruit and dairy I eat. It's a bit more difficult because most high protein food is also high calorie. Oh well I'm up for the challenge!

ninav- her site is good for the recipes and workouts....basically what you have in the book. I dont find myself there much at all. I was really hoping she had better stuff available. Her forums arent as good as these. she doesnt have anywhere to log your food. I do like the different exercises being online and there are some great info for working different body parts but really thats about it. I have told Erik before that this site is a lot better.
How does the quiz work slappy? I am going to try and find her book when I go out tonight.
only place I know you cna get the book is on amazon. The quiz tells you what percentages work best for you, help you burn the fat best. like ninav is fast oxidizer so she needs more protein and less fat and carbs. Im a balanced oxidizer so I get 30% protein and fats and 40% carbs. all depends on the type of foods you lean towards and your body type.

Oh ya? Why are her cd's so good? Right now I"m doing Tae Bo and I feel like I'm getting an extreme workout. But sometimes it's a bit too much. I also do resistance training...

nin- if you like her book you will like the dvds. but I will say this, just like I told Rahana, you have to be ready to get your ass kicked. if you think you can handle anything and want a challenge then they are for you.
Well I do Tae Bo... it can be pretty brutal. But I also have a bad back so sometimes I have to modify things. I'll see if they have her stuff at Netflix. I like to try before I buy :)
