Quote  |  Reply

I am starting this tomorrow (dec 15th) Lately i have been reading and watching tons of videos on youtube about it.

Therefore i have been sold on it and have decided to try it out!

If you are currently doing it would you let me know how much weight/stats about yourself after the first month?

Thanks!

I'm doing P90X and I'm just starting week 7.  I was badly out of shape about 3-4 months ago.  I started working out on my own at home with weight training and Intense Cardio (elliptical).  after a few months I decided to take the plunge.  I can tell you that the first 2 weeks you are going to be extremely sore and want to quit--do NOT quit!  Keep pushing play (as they say).  The program does work.  So far I have lost 2 (nearly 3) pants sizes and I have upped my pullups/chinups and weight with every exercise.

I was not a big fan of Yoga X  in the beginning (as many men that I've talked to on forums are not).  You see, I'm not the most flexible guy in the world.  I stuck with it though and actually enjoy the challenge!

Editting to mention, the diet plan (or one similar) is the key to success in the program--hands down.  I quit drinking alcohol (completely) which was a feat in and of itself for me!  (UW Badger and Packer fan don't you know!) I have also quit drinking soda completely.  My grocery list went from nearly ALL processed foods to mostly fresh and some organic.  Thanks to CC I've learned quite a bit about nutrition (and recipes, haha).  I enjoy cooking and live alone, so I wasn't intimidated by trying new things.

Some of my friends say "Well if I cut out all the crappy foods I eat and quit drinking...I would lose weight too..."  While that may be true, they would NOT see the strength gains that I've experienced over the past 7 short weeks!

I say--GO FOR IT!  What have you got to lose except a few inches, right?!

Take Care!

that's how I got my 8 pack of abs in the beginning of the year...great program, but the nutrition book is much more important that the workouts....

Good for Michael!  He rocks!!  I am finishing up my second week.  I can second the soreness factor.  I had to take three days off in between weeks 1 and 2, otherwise I would not have been able to run the pitch as a soccer referee!  Good news is week 2 I am much less sore.  I am really enjoying the workouts, doing what I can do, and not sweating what I cannot do.  I love their motto, "Do your best.  Forget the rest!"

Another reason I am here is so I can get on board with this eating stuff.  I admit not following it AT ALL up till now.

I only have the the pull up bar and an intro dvd for p90x.  Was doing it for three days and then I got sick.  Can't wait to feel good enough to start back up with it again.

I'd like to add that they do not plug this workout program as a "weight loss" program per se.  I initially lost a few pounds in the first few weeks, but have since gained that back, plus 2-3 lbs.  Since my pants size are going down I am not too worried about it.  I started out earlier this year, with the goal of "losing weight", but have since changed that to "getting fit".  I frankly don't care what the scale says as long as I can achieve "the eight pack"!

Cool

Thank you for the input..

I have cut fast food, do not drink sodas, do not care for sugary things. That leaves me with carbs!! I'm hispanic therefore i LOVE my carbs..

yes i know i need to cut those too.. i am not afraid of fresh veggies..

I am with you on the fitting into my clothing better. I know i am not going to see the scale go down but i do know that i will feel better. As of now i feel sluggish all the time. I'm only 26 and i feel like i can't keep up! Therefore it is time for change!

I got these workouts from a friend so i need to find the nutrition part of it online i guess.

no not really...it's basically just eating properly...get any good nutrition book.....

I'm not doing the work out but my better half is.  I can really say after a month the results are awesome.  I'm going to start the work out first week of January.

So to get faster results what I did was….those days that I had yoga, or the Kenpo (which is total crap…that Kenpo DVD is the worst…NEVER DID IT!!!...being a fighter I’ve been to thousands of classes to know what it’s really like.) I would run before the workout (3-10 miles) and then stretch and then do the workout.  I started to see my abs in week two doing this.  When you do these DVD’s don’t just ‘DO THEM”….GET UP ON IT.  OWN THE WORKOUT!!!!...Workout like a beast…make noise if you have to…you’ll be rewarded with a really nice physique in the near future, and if you don’t see the results you want…then do the whole thing again…nothing wrong with that.  Before doing this I could only do 2 one handed pushups…now I can do 15, and about 95 regular pushups.  Good luck to you all, and if anyone needs anything I’ll gladly help.  Just don’t give up…that’s all it is.

oh god... can i say that i am SORE?! 2 days and i feel like my arms and legs need to be taken off.. not to mention my abs!

Woohoo.. dont worry i'm not stopping. Going to Missouri next week, and i'm taking my stuff with me!

Thank you so much for all your help.. i added you, hope you dont mind. Your words of wisdom is exactly what i need right now!

thanks

no problem Mox...you'll do great...I added you as well...
