I found Slim  in  6  to be great for toning, it is not dreadfully hard to do. I did the 6 weeks and found my self toned!  I looked great, I did the Slim and Six pack daily too which made my abs look decent.  I have not done this in about 2 years now but would love to start it again, that is if i can get my girls to nap at the same time!  Anyone doing it, or about to start it?  I am ready for the 6 week challenge.  I am eager to start but fear not following through... I know it works!  I have seen results firsthand!  I need a buddy!

Start It Up is not difficult as it is a set up for the faster pace ahead with similar moves. If you are comfortable already with SIU, just jump ahead to Ramp It Up. That is where the fun begins. :)
I just finished the BIU. I must confess that last week I've been quite lazy: on Wednesday and on Thursday I did not do my exercises due to muscular pain. On Saturday I was sooo tired after returning from the business trip that I decided to just ...rest. Lucky for me that on Friday I was...in the mood for workout.

sweet_tart: the picture with your family is very nice. And you are looking excellent!!!!!!!!!!!
Where can i buy it new?
Hi Ladies!  I just had an anxiety attack!  I went to the forum page and thought I clicked on "fitness" and searched frantically for our posts... then I noticed I was looking on "weight loss" and not "fitness"!  I had been so surprised to see that we weren't on page one anymore, or two, or three!  That is when I realized my error!

Ahhh! so here I am posting to all my friends letting you know that yesterday I slept all day, then went to work, no exercising at all... I needed my sleep!  So today I am going to BIU!  I also think I might give Billy Blanks Ab DVD a go... I will let you all know how it goes!

You look wonderful sweet!  You and your family are very photogenic!
I want to get a head start with working out, can any suggest a good time to start doing all this? I mean, would it better doing the workouts in the morning or as soon as I come home from work?

And I notice that you guys are also doing the diffrent DVDs such as Billy Blanks Ab DVD. Since I'm totally new to working out (since high school gym class), what should I really focus on first? I'm so confused.. and I haven't gotten the program yet.. *frowns*
Thanks for the lovely compliments on the photo *^_^*

Good for you guys on taking the day off. When your body need it, you just gotta give it, right? Today is only my 6th straight. So I think I can do a something fast with cardio blast from TJ. I can't spend too much time today, today I've arranged a lunch-outing plus going to see an orchestra *yay* ::excited:: (Yesterday already did BIU).

pie - when you just started, stick with one routine. SI6 is great to get you going. Me and aly are using other routines because we been at SI6 for a while and just needed the variation. As for when to exercise? Anytime convenient for you. I exercise in the morning on weekend, night time weekdays. sometimes both, depending on the schedule of the day. If at night then for me it is: come home - change - workout - cook - dinner - shower - sleep (otherwise my dinner would be around 9 or 10 LOL).
So whatever fits your schedule.

Hi Florence, you can get it on ebay or the website www.beachbody.com
sweet_tart - thanks so much for advise. You look so fab in your pics. I hope grab back my lean asian ways again.. *sighs* Being short and chubby is not the kinda asian look I was going for.. *giggles*
OMG.... i just bought it... it's 77$ US so about 100-110$ canadian... it's so expensive... i hope it's worth it.. i'm having second thaughs because of the price..  well at least they have there 6 weeks money back garanti if i don't like it..
hi.  Where whould i find a similar work as SI6 out in the activities log ? (for the cals/hour)
florence, I am useing "slimnastics" to log my exercises. After seeing taylorn's post (about how many cals you really burn) a few pages ago I realized this might be too...optimistic, but I still use it. I was unable to find something more suitable. BTW, welcome and good luck with Si6. I hope you like it and that you see results, just like most of us here!
Monix.

I just read Taylorn's post.  she said over 300 cals but i don't know for how long... i guess less then an hour? so you think it would burn more then 300 cals per hour?

Anyway it's realu no big deal, it's still a good workout, i a do hope to see results... but right now i'm stuck in a plateau because when i first started my weight loss i wasn't eating enough so i'm tring to get out of the starvation mode.  I eat much more now, but sill not loosing, alcualy probable gainning a pound a week right now... :o( i might also be gaining muscle, because there seems to be a lot less fat on my stomack (not smaller, just harder)  witch makes me just as happy. Next step is to get that extra fat away.  Will smil in 6 get rid of that orange skin look?
Hi everyone...I completed my two weeks of RIU...Feels great!  My husband started the program with me last week and we have gone back to SIU for a couple days...We will then proceed onto BIU.  I'm very excited.  It's like wow, i'm really heading into my 5th week.  (i did two weeks of SIU)  I neglected to measure myself at the beginning of the program...I can see a difference and am sure i've lost inches...That scale is NOT my friend right now!  I think i'm going to do the same and only weigh in monthly.  As long as those inches keep going down i'll be very happy.  It just feels so great to work out.

Welcome to the new folks...Good luck.  I also work out during the week after work - and on weekends in the AM.  It's important to get time of day out of your head...no time is a bad time really! :)
florence: I have no idea if we are burning more then 300 cals (taylorn posted how many cals we are burning during BIU without abs and yoga, so almost 50 mins). There are a lot of factors that may affect the no of cals burned (how used are u to exercise, your weight and height and so on) so it is difficult to predict how much you are actually burning. I am not personally interested on the no of cals burned, but mostly on the effect that the exercise has on my muscles.

I've heard people saying that it might take you few months to get off a plateau, especially if the starvation lasted long. So, stick to your plan and you'll see results! Regarding the orange skin look....it should make a difference! I can not tell you for sure, since I have a lady coming to my house once a week to give me a massage for this skin condition, but mostly any kind of exercise helps the orange skin look get better. In addition to that, you have to diet a little bit (no coffee, no pasta, not too much bread, and no cigarettes) to make sure you are not making it worse.

Have fun with Si6 and keep up posted!

Hey everyone, just wanted to share something encouraging.  I am in the 7th week of the SI6 program (the one when you make up lost days, etc...).  My scale hasn't budged after the initial 8 pounds (I am also eating the South Beach diet), however, my clothes are really loose, I went down a size, I know I lost 3 inches in my waist plus others places because I did measure before and after, and I'm feeling so much better.  I think I'm continuing to shape and tone as I keep on with the program.  I did reach a place where I felt like nothing was happening but my family assured me I was looking better.  I think we get used to the changes and maybe discouraged.  Remember, we're looking at the SI6 success stories (including Debbie) as we work so hard, then going to the mirror and seeing our own bodies.  Take those pictures now (if you haven't already) and start comparing the changes in your own bodies!

The best changes are doing something really good for ourselves like daily exercise, drinking lots of water, eating better, etc...  It really it worth it.  Now, it's time for me to stop procrastinating and go do BIU!!!!  Have a great day everyone!!!
Well, I got through RIU yesterday and it wasn't too bad but the tricep resistance workout was a killer!

When all was said and done my Polar said I burned 325 calories so wahoo!!!!
Sounds like everyone is doing great!  I am going to do BIU today!  Played in the snow for a while with the girls, finally some snow in RI!  Melting already, boohoo! Also got my little friend today so that just about sucks all the motivation out of me... but I am not going to let it get me down. Now to get off my butt and get moving...!

The resistance bands are killer, I had to switch to 5lb weights which made it more tolerable and I wasn't twisting my body all around trying to extend the darn band!
I did my BIU and Six Pack!  Glad it is over for today!  I have to work 12AM-6AM tonight so now I am just bumming around the house trying to keep the kids occupied in one room so I dont have to chase anyone so I can conserve some energy to stay up all night... tonight my husband has class til about 9PM after being at work all day, so I am the one man show here until bedtime!

I am going to get my butt on the scale after my period has ended.  I hope my weight  has gone down...  the results are there in inches,  hope that the scale can cooperate, just for my mental health!  haha
Hi there...I went back to a SIU work out last night - still trying to let my husband catch up.  Funny - it was actually hard and I found myself sore from all those squats again.

Aly, I'm with you on the bands. Sometimes I find the tricep work difficult.  I too have free weights that i've been switching back and forth with. I find it to really work better mixing it up.

I have class tonight and am already stressing about not working out.  Been a rainy/cold day here in California - just want to eat lots of hot carbs :)

So - I have been addicted to Starbucks - 400 calories a day of starbucks.  Please tell me how terrible it is and why I should stop.  I need some harrassing in this area,  I'm ready for it.

Good luck to everyone else on their work out today...Aly - good for you and your friend to comes to terms and handle the work out together.
mcgee - wow!! gratz! that sounds so encouraging! :)

julie - if you have to go starbucks, get the regular coffee with non fat milk and a bit of sugar. None of those pastries. They are the killer I tell ya. I was shocked to see 480cal a pop of a muffin alone!!! Or, go for Tall, non fat sugar fee syrup cinnamon dolce latte for about 100 cal.
Better yet, save your moola and buy a coffee container and make one from home. I kinda stop going to starbucks as often, I found it is more of a habit. I bought a cup for about $4 then ended up sipping it twice and let it sit there undrunk. Waste of money :/

On a good news - I finally got my cousin to start on SIU! She is a bride to be and not that she is fat/overweight, she wants to tone up before putting on the straples dress. So every otther day I check on her if she has done the exercise for the day. Last night she said she did, together with our niece! (This niece is a bit overweight and can use extra activity ^^;)
Starbucks... try every other day... for starters... think of all the money you will save!  I was a huge on the go coffee fan, would go to DD or a local coffee shop drive thru... now I make my coffee at home, so I know exactly how much creamer I am using and switched to Splenda for sweetness with no calories...
