I was wondering if anyone is doing weight watchers and if so how many calories a day do you eat while on it? I have done and have been doing WW and think it is a great program to lose weight on, but I have been calculating my calories and points both and yesterday I had 18 points but it only = 905 calories. I know this program works for me because I have done it before was just wondering if anyone else was doing it? Help someone, thanks!!!!!

Hey Chunkychoo,
I'm doing WW too. Well, sort of. A few years back I had great results with the program. I feel like it helped me not just eat less, but eath healthier. Recently I started counting points again as well as logging calories (I wanted to be able to see analysis of what I was eating) and I realized how few calories I'm eating when I eat points. Since I work out a lot I wasn't getting enough calories to lose weight even if I ate all the points I earned from exercise. Now I just count calories but I also keep in mind how many points I'm eating and aim for a slightly higher range than what the program says I should eat.
I don't know how much you weigh, but 905 calories is not a lot, especially if you're doing any kind of physical activity. Maybe you should consider eating 21 or 22 points instead so you're at least above 1000 cals. BUT...If you're comfortable at 18 points and you're losing weight, do what works for you. Good luck.

A friend of mine was on WW - but has switched over to using this site and my program instead - and she's been dropping weight.
It's basically the same thing, except that WW points aren't just calories - it takes into account fat and fiber - which can mean (like Mobaby said) that you're not taking in the right number of calories.
But, just remember - you have to find what's going to work for you - FOREVER! <Echo... forever... forever...forever...>. You can't diet - that's a temporary measure - you have to change how you eat.

Hello, I weigh 150 pounds and I am only 5" tall my goal is 120, I eat so much more food and healthier food on weight watchers. I did not work out last time I did weight watchers and lost 9 pounds in 1 month, I am now working out alot and have 2 kids I chase all day long, but I did work in a factory before, not sure which was harder that or being a stay at home mom.I am losing doing this but everyone says I am not consuming enough calories but if I don't do WW I do not lose weight, I maintain my weight well but I want to ,lose. My calories very from day to day I will post again tommorrow and maybe post my menu and exercise for the day and maybe get some pointers. Later, oh yeah I just had a weight watchers slow roasted turkey breast smart ones meal and it was soooo good, plus I had a cup of raw cauliflower with it.
I'm in my first week of WW! I'm so glad I found this site to keep track of my cal./fat gms. in addition to my points.
Here's what I've done this week!:
Wed.: 1503 cal/32 fat, 24 points
Thurs.: 1229 cal/23 fat, 24 points
Fri.: 1299 cal/20 fat, 21 points
Sat.: 1710 cal/20 fat, 24 points
Sun.: (Easter) 1586 cal/65 fat, 35 points
Mon.: 1498 cal/17 fat, 28 points
(I think I need to look at my calories for Easter Sun. again...something doesn't look correct there. Regardless if that's an error or not, I'm excited to get my first weigh in tomorrow. I think I have a very achievable goal of losing 30 pounds for my Nov. 11th wedding!

do 0 points eventually add up or are they always 0 no matter how much you consume?
I did weight watchers after having my third child and gaining 25kgs. It was fantastic as it helped me analyse my diet and look at where the extra points were coming from. In my case it was from drinking milk. I never got back to my 50kg body but I did lose 20kgs. However I prefer this site as it analyses your diet and you can look for improvements it also is more precise on activities as on weight watchers you got 2 extra points for either housework of running forever!!! which I don't think was fair.
I've been doing WW for some time, but I recently switched to this site. I lost about 30 lbs doing the WW thing online, but then have been stuck at the same weight (10 lbs from my goal!) for over a year and couldn't figure out why. It seems that when I total the WW daily points and compare them to the calories using this site, I can only eat my daily 20 points and no weekly points in order to stay just around 1200 calories a day. So that may be why I've been stuck...I've been eating 35 points extra a week, which totals to around 250 calories a day.
Alas, I either have to eat less or exercise more!!
I did buy a scale that calculates my body fat - this is a big help. I am at around 22%, which isn't so bad. I still want that extra 10 lbs gone if I can.

I have been doing WW online since end of December. Have lost 10lbs so far.
Perhaps you body is just hit its resting period. It is not unusual for this to happen. Just keep on your healthy eating plan and when your body is ready you will start to drop the pounds you want.
How are you at exercise and drinking water? For some it's the sodium. I like those WW Smart One Dinners but as with all of them they are so loaded with sodium and sodium is not my friend for water retention. Actually there are so many things that can contribute to no losing. Also take into consideration that where you are at now my be your goal weight.
I have 100 lbs to lose and for me it is going to be a long hard journey.
Have a great day,
Flo

Flo-
Congratulations on your loss so far. You might find it easier than you think - the weight just dropped off me pretty regularly when I first started. In a way it was easier than watching the scale lose and gain the same 5 lbs over and over again like it is now. I did it all online without ever attending a meeting.
Can a resting period last a year???!! I exercise a couple of times a week, but am not a dedicated gym-goer. Water - I could be better at that too.
You might be right about goal weight, but I often wonder about that. I am 5' 4" and my goal weight, according to WW, should be around 128. My BMI is 24.8. But I have a muscular build and big shoulders, so I wonder if this is even reasonable for me. That is why I am starting to look at body fat. I am stuck around 138 right now.
I guess I shouldn't complain - I've maintained for over a year.
Good luck.

things might have changed, but when i was in ww we weren't allowed to eat any less than 20 points a day. and, a lot of 0 point foods still had calories (like veggies). i'd say you aren't eating enough points or enough veggies. if you do eat 20 points and consider your veggie intake, you should be right at 1200/calories (that's why they say not to eat any less than 20 points.)
I followed WW a few years ago and lost 20kg over 8 months - but when I found CC and checked my WW diet I felt that the food intake was too low on WW. I also regained 15 kg over 24 months, both due to a decrease in excercise and small increase in food intake.
I think more cals with a slower weight loss is far better for longterm weight control. WW has a lot of benefits - the points system is quite easy to follow - just maybe not enough for an active person!

many years ago i tried the points system with WW and it made me eat too much veggies (cuz they all count as 0 points) and not enough protein. i think with CC it's easier to achieve a nutritional balance. Still, WW is a pretty good program :)
