Is there anyone out there that has done the HCG diet?

My doctor and nutritonist has placed me on this diet, has anyone else done it? If so, what were your results?

is that where you give yourself injections and eat a vlcd? if not, what is it?

I'd be interested to know what it is as well. I've got to say...I'm curious.

I have. It is wonderful. It takes determination and strictness, but it is the best thing I've ever done. I lost weight I had never been able to lose before. I'm not the only one though. Many of my friends and relatives have done it with excellent results. I had created a group for people to ask questions and give feedback. If you want to join I would be happy to answer questions and hopefully make the process easier for you than it was for me by sharing what I learned. :)

Yes, it is where you do injections and a 500 calorie a day diet for 6 weeks. The injections are to loosen the fat into your bloodstream to use for fuel, and make you not hungry.

I have been on it for a week, and have lost 4lbs so far. I keep my journal updated if you want to track it.

But like Leidee said, after you lose the weight, you still have to eat right and exercise, if not, you will just gain it all back.

But, isn't it made from pee?  I think that would ick me out.

500 calories a day is starvation.

True. However, your body is eating around 2000 calories a day. Just because you don't put the calories in your mouth doesn't mean the body is not consuming them.

Yes the hormone is taken from pregnant women's pee, but who cares! It works! That hormone causes pregnant women's body's to release stored fat cells and divert them to their growing baby. When taking it for weight loss, it releases those fat cells to be used as fuel for your body. It literally causes your body to eat the fat off of you.

Pretty awesome if you ask me. :)

where do they get it? do the pregnant women pee in cups and give it to them or do they just take the pee from Dr visits without them knowing? the whole idea sounds sick to me! I'm not going to do something just because it works is it healthy and safe is what I'm looking for! eating disorders work for weight loss but I'm not going to do it because it is not healthy or safe!I would want to know who's pee was used how they got it and I'd want to see tests done on that pee for diseases etc!

Seriously! Where do you think we get this? It's not from some back alley. It is prescribed by a doctor and bought from a pharmacy. It is the same thing that women use to increase fertility when trying to become pregnant. It is also prescribed to men to increase sperm count and young boys who are having problems starting puberty. Only, for weighloss a MUCH smaller dosage is taken.

As far as how they extract the hormone from the pee, I have no clue, but I imagine there are medications out there that come from grosser sources. It's not like you are injecting yourself with pee. Take penicillin for example--it's taken from mold. But you wouldn't dare tell a diabetic how gross it was to use mold medicine!

This really is an extremely healthy and natural way to lose weight. I only ask that anyone become more informed before attacking it. I know so many people who have bennefited from this. No only weight loss but other health problems fixed too--thyroid disease, diabetes, allergies, low adrenals, low metabolism, etc.

I was not attacking it I was seriously asking questions if you saw my original post I said I was told by a DR. to consider using it.I do not like any medications that is why I go to  a holistic DR.antibiotics are crap and make a person sicker then they are.I am doing research I believe I stated before that I was reading the book by Kevin Trudeau.so don't get so upset you did not understand my reply!

It's backed by Kevin Trudeau? Write no more because my eyes just shut off

i think "where does it come from" is a perfectly legitimate question.  maybe it's a synthetic form; maybe it's not.  if it's not, is it collected ethically?  are they paying indigent women for their urine or their placentas?  is it collected in developing countries to dodge human rights regulations?  are the women who "donate" healthy?  personally, i'd rather eat mold right off the bread than inject myself with a substance that might have been derived from the urine of someone who has hepatitis or HIV, or who donated under duress (or without her knowledge).

it's banned in some countries; might not be a bad idea to ask why that is.

and i'm not sure what's "healthy and natural" about injecting yourself with a hormone produced in someone else's body.  it's "natural" for your body to produce it when you're pregnant; it's not natural to harvest a hormone your body doesn't need and inject it for cosmetic reasons.  eating 500 calories a day for an extended period of time certainly isn't "healthy", and it's not "natural" unless you're in the midst of a famine.

obviously it's your choice to take it, but pretending it's a healthy and natural way to lose weight is a little ridiculous.  to my mind, it's an invasive cosmetic procedure.

There is nothing 'natural' about injecting yourself with someone else's hormones.

Actually that's exactly what that means. Consumption is how much you eat. Your body is BURNING 2000 calories a day. That's not a function of the injection - everyone's body burns around that (more or less depending on size, muscle mass, etc).

Consuming far less than your body burns is considered to be drastically undereating, or "starvation". So, eating 500 calories while your body burns 2000 definitely falls under that.

Im on it now and have lost 10 lbs in two weeks. Go to poundsandinches site, all info is there.

It is for awhile, and its great to kick the carb habit, and detox your body. Im on day 18 and feel great!!

I am glad to see other HCG people here.  I have been on the HCG for a week now and have lost 12LBS.  I started the 500 calories 5 days ago.  I cannot believe the transformation of my body.  I really see it contouring my body.  I just wanted to hit on a few points.  The pee thing is this, yes it is from prego women but it is not like you are injecting straight urine.  It is processed into a powder and I am sure they do alot to get it to that.  It is parts of the urine not the actual urine.  Also the whole Kevin Trudeaus idea nor his plan.  The original plan came from a Dr. Simeons and he used the plan (a much more strict version) in the 1930s in europe.  He published his findings in 1954.  You can research it on the internet.  They have VERY different plans. It works.  The FDA approved it to be tested for weight loss 2 weeks ago and doctors have been giving it to patients for years.  It is used as a hormone for fertility now.  I am a true believer and it is a life change to detox your body and start all over.  I have met alot of people who have lost alot of weight doing this and I will too.  I will also keep it off as this is the one thing that I needed to jumpstart my weight loss, I needed something drastic.  I have done it all and this is working.  I see it and feel it.

We are all here to lose weight because we need it.  I just want you to know that there are people and things that make it so you have to take invasive action.  I went thru menopause at 15 because of ovarian cancer.  I took hormone replacement until I was 19 when research showed that if a woman took hormones for a long peiod of time it could cause other cancers.  I quit taking hormones and I gained alot of weight.  I continued to eat like crap and tried every diet I could to lose.  I am now 29 and have the metabolism of a 50 year old woman.  I think that we put unnatural hormones in our bodies everyday with everything we eat.  It is been said that because of the hormones fed to animals and the chemicals in fruit and veggies that we are causing all of our own medical problems, that girls and boys hit puberty sooner.  Unless you are willing to become vegan and eat nothing but home grown fruit and veggies and not eat anything you didnt raise you too are injecting hormones in your body everytime you eat chicken or steak.  Just my thought.

Any type of restricted calorie diet with a deficit over 1,000 calories per day or eating less than the minimum recommendation of 1200F/1500M +300teen +%exercise should be done only under the care of a doctor who is knowledgeable in weighing the health risks of the individual's weight against the health risks from a restricted calorie diet and those of losing weight rapidly.  Hopefully this will encompass frequent check ups and tests.  Personally, I'd seek a second opinion and try to do it with a less restrictive method.  Anyone who experiences health issues whether on a restricted calorie diet or not should seek medical advice.

Diabetics who do not produce or produce limited quantities of the insulin hormone generally use insulin, originally pigs, horses, cows, and fish were the sources, now a synthetic insulin is mass produced.  Penicillin is derived from mold and is more likely to be used to fight or attempt to prevent an infection. Interestingly enough, in the beginning penicillin was apparently recollected and used from a person's urine.

Regardless of which weight loss method you and your doctor choose, once you've lost the weight, you will still need to eat a reasonably healthy diet with sufficient calories and get a modicum of exercise in order to maintain the healthy weight.
