Has anyone done the 10 minute body dvds?

Quote  |  Reply
I know there is always posts about the dvds out there, but I just bought the 10 minute toning dvd for strengthening and firming. It has 5 different work outs on it, all for 10 min each. There is a body slimming one, a pilates one, a strength one, a all over body one, and a shoulders and abs one....

But do they work? I mean I honestly can't believe that 10 minutes could do the trick, what do you think?

I don't mean to sound negative, but ten minutes won't get you the toned body you're looking for.  It's a marketing ploy - a short cut to sell DVD's.  Think about the body builders for a second...they don't work out for ten minutes, they work out for hours to develop the body.

You need to put in realistic amounts of time and lift real weights to get real results.

Sorry to disappoint you....you'd be wasting your time and money on such a product.

I do the 8 min taebo tape 3(sometimes more)  times a day. Its probably not the best way to get in  my exercise but if I can just fit in 8 mins its perfect and at least I am doing something in those 8 mins I have! I do try to make it a point to do it at least 3 times a day!just thought that i would share!
Hours, yes, but over the course of a week, not all at once - and not hours at a time concentrating on one muscle group.

I'm not quite familiar with all of them - seen some 10-minute solution vids on youtube that were of wildly varying quality, but I think that if you combine them into varying workouts you'd have at least the basis of something.

10 minutes is better than no minutes, after all.

And if you do - say, 10 min. strength, shoulders/abs, 10min all-over, that's a nice half-hour workout. Combine the various vids into 30 minutes workouts, put in something like "Walk away the pounds" at the end for extra cardio, and you'd have a workout that would be at least a useful challenge and give you a hand towards your goals.

You could also decide to do a "strength day", a "Pilates day", and so on and put the DVD on repeat 3 times, though I think maybe "shoulders/abs" isn't suited for that kind of structure - it sounds a bit like it could be something you'd do after 20 minutes of the others.

'Course, weights will give you faster results, and probably better ones over the long term, but that does not mean that you're not going to see some kind of results from doing this. There's very little that won't do something for you - the only question is if that something is in line with your goals or not, and if you're satisfied with the time it takes to see results. If you give this a try and start to feel impatient, you can always change your program - it's not like you're marrying the workout ;)
I've got a couple of 10 minute solutions dvds and i think they're great. i never do just 10 minutes, i do 3 or 4 of the sections, i think they're great to mix and match, you can even mix and match from different dvds. I like the 10 minute slim and sculpt pilates - the one with the band!

I love the 10 minute series.  I try to do the whole video but if I've gotta go I can at least get in  10 or 20 minutes.  I do  different videos (Pilate's, ball and cardio) everyday.  I started a month or so ago and I can see and feel the difference.  My balance has dramatically improved and so has my stamina and flexibility.

I am just starting with some free weights on top of the videos because I have heard such good things.  But for just starting out DVDs can be great all you have to do is push play.

they are the BEST THING EVER!!!!! honestly, I use the pilates ones with Lara Hudson, they are perfect for making up an hour long workout or just 10 or 20 minutes if I am pressed for time... they are designed to be kind of high intensity so if you don't have a lot of time to work out, you can still reap SOME benefits instead of not exercising at all. I can't tell you what wonders these DVD's worked on my body, not even four years of cross country workouts made me look as slim and toned! my boyfriend was ecstatic, I felt wonderful, my clothes fit better than ever.... I can't say enough positive things about these DVD's, if you can stick to it and make up a routine for yourself, you will never regret it! best of luck!

gew90, are you just doing the pilates ones or others as well? You seem to have got good results - so share your routine please! thanks.
Yea I got the pilates one and I normally mix it up. I start with abs and stomach, then I do the total body blast segment, and then I end with the lean and long stretch part. It is awesome that you can create your own whole workout on the dvd by choosing specific segments.

My abs are killing me BTW!

I tried them and also slim-in 6 - but got bored fast. If i saw results i could have dealt with the boredom. Then my mother in law told me about joey atlas and I've been hooked ever since. His stuff is straightforward, no music, no hype - but its amazing - better than my gym workouts from the old days.

Tina

I have the pilates dvd - has five ten minute sessions = 50 min. If you do at least three sessions = 30 min for 3-4 days a week, this should be good. I love the abs 10 min workout. It really tires you out. It has great exercises. The other two that I like are the Thighs and Buns and The Arms one. Good Luck!

I say ANY exercise is better then NO exercise whether it's 10 minutes or not. 10 minutes can lead to more minutes and so on. If 10 minutes is all you can spare then by all means do it, it is definitely better then doing no exercise at all. :)
