Anyone just eating maintenance and working out?
I know this has been posted before, but I couldn't find the post. Are any of you eating maintenance calories (or not reducing your calories much below maintenance) and creating your deficit mainly by exercising? If so, how is your weight loss?

That's basically what I did and still do sometimes. If I were to only diet, I'd have to eat only 1100 calories to get my 500 calorie deficit since I'm short. I'm way hungrier than that! My weight loss went fine, and I'm maintaining well. =)
Good to hear! I'm just under 5 5" and I have the same problem creating a deficit since my maintenance calories are about 1,700. I think I've hit a mental block with limiting my calorie intake and I'd rather workout more and create a deficit that way.
It's healthier to work out more and cut calories less. You'll be more likely to get all your vitamins etc this way.
OTOH you won't really be eating maintenance. If you were you wouldn't lose weight. The extra work out raises the amount that you need to eat for maintance. So you're still eating below maintence but it's because you've changed your activity level. Make sense?

I do that too, grade student as well. I eat between 1550-1750 and exercise as well. I loose about 0.5lbs per week, but I don't have a lot to loose and I'm not in any rush.
Makes perfect sense, zeke2. :)
Okay, how do I eat maitenance? Do I keep exercising? I have to stay at the same weight without any weight loss and I don't know how. Please help. The calorie people say I eat a little less than 2,000 calories/day for maitenance. so i just do that and how much exercise?

Would having a job where I work on my feet, 5 days a week, and I'm always moving, mopping, rushing, etc. (Jamba Juice) and then biking or doing weight training the other two days classify me as sedentary, light, or what?
I'm 16 and 5'7"
