Anyone else addicted to Diet Coke?
Hey there,
Just curious to see who else shares my insatiable appetite for diet coke... I've been drinking it since I was a kid, and I can barely go a day without it (unfortunately).. If you've got a diet coke problem, please feel free to message me and we'll cut back/quit together..
PS- I quit drinking it for a little over a day (I know--not a big task for most). I could see a huge difference in how bloated my stomach was after quitting for just a day.

Argh me too. I really think I can empathise with how smokers feel. As soon as I tell myself I'll quit, I get insane diet coke cravings. I used to make myself wait till midday to drink it but I admit that i've been breaking my own rules. Tips from any successful ex-diet cokers would be greatly appreciated.
Ps/ Guera - How bad is the damage? How much do you drink a day? Don't think I'd like to admit to my figure. Hehehehe

Oh my god! One of my biggest vices. I get so excited when they have 4 cases for $10 at the supermarket LOL. I havent had one in a few days. I didn't know it could be harmful though? I always thought it was ok because it was diet. Any time I get a snack craving, I usually go for a Diet Coke and it subsides. I know it has caffeine which isn't the best, but I don't really notice any other side effects.
I think it's just all the artificial sweetners and chemicals that everyone worries about (esp. aspartame). But if you're only drinking it now and again then I'm sure it's fine. I just need to learn how to do moderation!!!
Well, i'm glad to know i'm not alone in the never ending struggle...As far as "the damage goes"-- I drank a little over three 20 ounce bottles yesterday... I discovered that at my dad's work (the coca-cola company...which is right down the street from my apartment) that there is a machine for 20 ounces for 75 cents!! I was like woo hoo!!! Jackpot!!
I too get excited when there's a sale on diet coke... To make it worse, i'm a smoker, too... But, I could give up smoking a lot easier than diet coke (since i've been drinking it since the beginning of time----my dad works for the coke company and has for 99.9% of my life)..
We can get through this together!

drink more diet coke! sorry, i'm working for CCE, so I have to say that! Or, I could also accept if you drink Poweraid Option (that stuff is good, and low calorie! just a little more than flavored water), or drink some Dasani water :)
I was doing the diet coke a day for a while here (it's free in fountains on all the floors!) but have traded it in for water, mainly. Depending who you believe, some of the artifical stuff is bad for you. Others say it is bad for you because it tricks your body into thinking you are getting sugar when you are not, causing adverse things, etc.
I just don't need the caffeine. Oh, and some studies say carbonated water leeches calcium from your bones, so that can't be good either :)
So, basically buy lots of it, but drink it in moderation. maybe use it to stock an emergency shelter, it keeps a long time :) Oh, and i forget which, but either regular or diet coke cans will float in water (the other sinks) so you could build a raft out of them....
:)

LOL!It's got to the point where my drink of choice at a bar is diet coke... well ok maybe the wine afterwards. Mmmmm. My pet hate is when people look at your diet coke and comment... y'know that stuff isn't better for you than regular coke. Damn preachers. Hehehehe. I always go with the... yeah yeah, i know but it's hurting me on the inside and at least it doesn't show up on the outside (tounge in cheek of course)
vanity is a terrible thing (hangs head)
food_freak-- you know what else drives me up a freakin' wall.... When people say... Why do you drink diet coke?? Are you on a diet?? Even if I wasn't on a diet I can't stand regular pop of any kind, it's just too heavy from all the sugar...
zhowe-- My dad works for CCE too, where are you stationed at?

Looove it! iv'e tryed to stop soo many times. i've had almost none since Jan,(resturants don't count - they have the fountain stuff). except for last weekend (had two). this last week (when it went on sale 4 for 10) i bought just one case.
Oh man, not only am I addiced to Coke Zero (eh, don't really like the taste of Diet Coke, unless it's Diet Coke with Lime), but also Diet Pepsi, Diet Ginger Ale, and Arizona Iced Tea's Diet Green Tea Energy drink :p I feel the pain... at least the ginger ale isn't caffeinated XD Other than that I'm a caffeine fiend.
I've been drinking Diet Coke every day since I was 4 years old.
I don't think it's better for you than regular coke, but it sure as hell isn't worse for you.

wow. this is me. i can drink like 3 in a day if i get going. ugh. so bloated.
My meals are all eaten at the university cafeteria as if cafeteria food three times a day isnt bad enough the only thing to drink is from a soda fountain.... and the water tap or lemonade tap is usually broken, i drink rediculous amounts of diet coke and i love it! I dont see a problem with it, just brush your teeth lots from the carbonic acid and youll be fine!
Diet coke isn't good. But here's my take: it's better than regular Coke. No sugar, negligible calories, and (to me) a much better tast. The little caffiene helps me too since I don't drink coffee.
I used to have about a can a day, increased to a bottle a day, but now, I'm back to normal again. Four bottles lasted me 2 weeks. It feels good but now and then, I indulge a little, especially when I NEED some kind of soda to drink.

I drink one a day for the caffeine, and I don't think I really need to stop yet; I know I should, but I have trouble enough sleeping that nothing else gives me enough of a caffeine boost with so low of calories. ^^;;;

I am absolutely NOT addicted to Diet Coke.
Diet Pepsi is the nectar of the gods.

I love diet coke.. I've been hooked for like five years.
But my new addiction is Sprite Zero. Tastes SOOOO much like regular sprite. I'm not a huge sprite fan, but for zero calories, i'll drink it by the gallon. The only downside is no caffeine :(
I usually have a diet coke with one meal and a sprite zero with another. I don't really think this is bad, except it might be dehydrating. Is this true with diet sodas, or just with regular?

Does soda make you feel bloated? I had one Coke Zero per day for the last week and my stomach was bloated. I stopped for 2 days and it's a huge difference.
I hate diet coke D: I love coke, but diet coke makes me want to somehow just like..throw it somewhere. I don't know why, but my tastebuds just somehow tell me that it tastes like alcohol. I'm not a fan of alcohol, so the feeling my tastebuds get from diet coke as being alcoholic (even though I know it doesn't have any in it), just turn me off.
I'm an odd one xD on the other hand, I can't go without having a coke D: I've been trying to cut down on it...gaaah.

Glad to see i'm not alone...
Soda does make you bloated (response to gomui).. Sometimes I feel like I want to take a needle to my stomach and pop it because I feel like a balloon from drinking so much soda (pop, as I call it)..
Why is soda so addicting!?? So good.. So bad..
