anyone else eat dinner late?
so my biggest meal happens to be right after i exercise, so usually around 10:30pm. whereas i know a lot of people eating late is detrimental to weight/fat loss but it doesn't seem to bother my body. am i just a freak or something? any time i tell anyone this they get all 'oh no no no' until i tell em that i lost continously while doing just that. there must be others out there? oh & some days i will have about 5-8 meals/snacks.
My biggest meal is usually around 8pm (or later, depending on how long it takes to cook), after I'm done lifting. I go to bed by 10pm.
I think if you eat later, you might end up having more food in your belly for your morning weigh in, but that's about it. The people who say don't eat at night are usually refering to the mindless snacking that some people engage in post-dinner (usually above and beyond their calorie target).
Nope.. your not weird. I keep a strange schedule and do much the same thing.
I got to bed at 2m or later and get up around 10 am. This means breakfast is between 10 and 11:30am, lunch is around 4pm and dinner is often later. I've been known to be finishing my evening snack around 11:45 pm. I don't usually eat between midnight and 2am, but if I'm starving I make room for a small snack and count it.
And I'm down 26 lbs. So it's working just fine. If it's working for you, I wouldn't bother giving it another thought.
Dinner is always my largest meal of the day. I'm trying to have it earlier so that it doesn't affect my morning weigh in. The scale has been nothing but constantly up and down all week, masking any progress I've made (if any).
Yep, I always eat dinner late, especially when I work. Since i'm a waitress i go in around 3 or 4 and I don't get out till 10ish.. so thats when I always eat dinner. It throws me off a little bit but I don't mind it because I know i'm in my calorie range and I won't have to worrying about late night snacks tempting me!
ok i feel easier about it. i was just getting flack from anyone i told. yes and i too find that i dont get late night snack tempted
Another waitress here. I also eat around 10pm. The lastest research I've seen, it's not when you eat but what you eat. Same as eating meals any other time of the day. I think people just tend to eat crap snacks at night. Then thinking that it is the late night eating that is putting on the weight not what they are putting in thier mouths.
I work midnights so needless to say I eat at very strange times. Now for example, it is almost 8am and I'm getting ready to eat dinner.
You can eat whenever you want to... what matters is how much you eat over the whole day. Eating dinner at ten pm is fine if that works for you - as long as you don't eat another full meal at six to 'tide you over'.
everybody is different and if that is the schedule you keep than your body will get used to it...see if i did that my ass would giggle til noon the next day...lol do what ever works for you!
Dinner's my biggest meal too - and we usually don't eat until 7:00 - 7:30. By the time we leave work, I go to the gym, get home, sit around for a second and start cooking there's no way to eat any earlier.
I make a point not to eat after 6 if I can help it, so lunch is usually my biggest meal.
I usually eat later as well... Two days a week I'm at the barn unil 9:30ish, so I try to make dinner before I leave, while I'm taking care of my dog, so I can eat when I get home. Sometimes I also hop on the eliptical after the barn, so I don't eat until 10:30 or so. I HATE eating before I work out, so even when I'm not at the barn, I work out after I take care of my dog (walk, feed, etc...) which can take me to 9:00-9:30 or later.
*shrugs* I'm still losing.
Weight gain caused by eating late is one of those diet myths. Like many have said, your weight in the morning might not show a difference but overall that doesn't matter. Your body will dig into that stored fat to burn calories the next day. As long as you are eating the correct amount of calories and working out, it's acceptable. Eating late is associated to weight gain b/c people tend to snack at night (ice cream, chips) and go beyond their recommended daily calorie consumption.
i'm a late eater. if i eat too early i 1) get hungry again before bed and 2) wake up in the morning so hungry it hurts. my hypoglycemia demands a contstant supply of fuel. those 7 hours i spend sleeping really tax my reserves.
