Anyone else eat a disappointing old favorite lately?
I used to have a love for Oreos, and after not having them for over a year, I had one! All I can say is the cookie part is okay, but the cream in the center is pure waxy and gross. I can't believe I used to love them.
Another thing I recently HAD to have is pop tarts. Um, can we say definitely not worth the calories? 400 in two of those pastry's.. I'd rather eat a fresh baked donuts.
List so far:
- Poptarts
- Oreos
- Hot Pockets
- Doritos
- General Store Candy (snickers, recees, etc)
AUUHG. You know what I totally used to absolutely love that I now can't stand?
Hot pockets. Not worth the calories, the singing of your tastebuds, the horrible, HORRIBE 'outcome'.
I agree with you on poptarts
Candy. In General. I never thought I'd say this but most candy is WAAAY too sweet for me.
Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Guuuh, too much sugar makes me violently ill now.
any form of milk product. Not because I don't like the taste, but it causes me to become ill and, to avoid being best buddies with the toilet bowl, I avoid it. Until I forget WHY I don't eat it.
around two months ago i decided to treat myself with a small french-vanilla cappucino from tim horton's, because pre-diet, i drank an extra-large one every single day. well, i now think it tastes vile and it just tastes like pure sugar. yuck!
I posted a similar thread back in August because of a disappointing Poptart
.
This weekends disappointment - Cool Ranch Doritos
Really? Cool ranch doritos? I LOVE those.. or at least I think I do? I used to eat them with cream cheese. I was one horrible person.
And I'll have to agree on the hot pockets. Just smelling them microwave reminds me of stomach acid. Bleh.
I also tried a Snicker bar one night (because I hadn't had one in forever) and it was like sugar OD in an instant. I couldn't even finish the piece I broke off.
I had a reese's peanut butter cup the other night. Much too sweet for me now!
After going for two months without sugar, i just ate a plain bagel with a tbsp strawberry cream cheese and it tasted waay too sweet. I had to drink a bottle of water, even though i wasn't thirsty, just to get the sweetness out of my mouth...
Salt.
I've cut way down on sodium and am use to the "no salt added" "low sodium" or "fresh" foods.
If I eat anything laden with sodium now, it's like eating a teaspoon of plain salt. I'm retaining water just thinking about it.
3 Muskateers. Had a full sized one the other night and it made me feel icky. Way too much sugar.
And powdered coffee creamer. Used to love it! Tried some today and was like, "Ick! No wonder I switched to half-and-half!" (which you need less of and is better for you).
Also; french fries! I had some the other day and they were just...dry. And they made me feel gross.
I like steak fries so much more.
poptarts! deff not what i remembered!
BUT-french fries+regular mayo-better that i remember! lol
I used to be deathly in love with pizza pockets, but now I think they're gross. Lots of fast food is also pretty "eh" in my book now, it's nothing special. I still like peanut butter and jam sandwiches, though.
- Twinkies
- Zingers
- Tiger's Milk Bars
Doritos
Potato Chips
Meat
Milk makes me sick
and eggs gross me out
(EDIT: added new items) Plain bagels
i had the oreos experience too.. so sad :(
I did the same thing with oreos! Perhaps it was a good thing I finally "gave in" and had one... after that, I no longer fantasize about them!
I also decided to get a regular coke once instead of a diet coke. Well, now I've been drinking diet soda so long I don't even like regular coke! It was gross to me. Now the diet doesn't seem like such a sacrifice lol.
I also don't like american cheese on sandwiches very much anymore. I still like cheese everywhere else, but now that hard waxy type cheese just disrupts my turkey + tomato + lettuce + mustard experience!
Hershey's chocolate also tastes like wax and sugar! I am spoiled on the 70% cocoa fantasy stuff!
I never thought I'd say this...but Nutella is just not as good as I remembered! My mum bought a jar home the other day as a 'treat' for me, but I tried it on some bread like I used to have it and it just tasted like very sweet goo that stuck to my mouth and didn't really taste all that interesting. Whereas in the past I could not even let myself buy it, as I would eat the whole jar in a couple of days.
I don't know what to do with the rest of the jar now...
powdered sugar donuts, i was really craving these, i actually tossed them away, that was a first ever....cannot stand wasting food but i did not even want to give these away.
mexican food because i must order it with out cheese...and it looses lots of flavor with out the cheese,
Veggie burgers...moved to europe, dont have the frozen ones where i live. went to america on holiday and realized they are nasty and i use to eat 2 a day. erg.
If you live in an area with pine cones, you can take that Nutella and load up a pine cone, then roll in bird seed and hang from a tree. Let the birds get fat! My cat would like that![]()
Mommakitty: Can you really do that with Nutella? My sister has gone off it and no one else eats it, and we've half a big jar going nowhere! We don't get many birds but my nan has a lot of birdhangers outside her house, so come my next visit to her I could make some of those up, if that's the case!
Bobo: I make my own veggie burgers en masse and freeze/reheat when I want them, now. But I tried one out of the the frozen section too, recently, and was very much dissatisfied.
For me? Chips. Fries, for you Americans out there. I had some of my mum's the other day and remember thinking after about two I'd rather be having new potatoes instead!
1. Anything with milk chocolate
2. Tea/coffee sweetened with real sugar
3. Anything from burger king or McDonalds (except black coffee)
Almond Joy. I had a mini sized one left over from Halloween and it was way too sweet.
Pizza rolls were not as good as I remembered. They were ok but a little disappointing
