Does anyone else do this?

OK I hit a goal weight yesterday. Then I weighed myself again today just to check it was real. To celebrate I had Subway for lunch (including a chocolate cookie) instead of my usual cup a soup. Bad girl.

How do you train yourself not to reward weightloss with food. It seems a little silly but part of my brain goes "go on, you've done so well, you can have someting naughty".

im exactly the same!! I lose a few pounds or even a pound in a week and think, "oh i'll have a slice of that cake or a biscuit seeing as ive lost 1-2lbs" I want to STOP it!

Well... think about what you joined CC for and why you've done all the work you have.  Most of the people are here trying to make a change that they will stick with their entire life.  If you feel that by eating a cookie or because you've completed your goal, you might relapse and get back in your old habits, then avoid at all cost.  But I don't think it is really that bad to reward yourself as long as you know that, as soon as that cookie is swallowed, you're back on maintenance mode.

Yeah I suppose it was only one cookie. I'll be good for the rest of the day. :)

I pay myself cash.  For each pound lost, I put aside $5.  When it adds up, I spend it on something I really want, or on new clothes in my new size.

There isn't anything wrong with rewarding yourself with food.  As long as you don't go to dairy queen and order two desserts and devour them both!  :)    I always use food to reward myself.  And that way I work harder when I have cravings.   I tell myself "You can have it, but not until you have run an extra mile each day this week!      Just don't over indulge in your treat... that is the key!!

Ditto! I go for a meal out in a restaurant (Shock, Horror!!!Surprised) It's the inner devil in me coming out.... Tongue out

I reward myself with food but i don't think it's a bad thing. Some people have a cheat day once a week, starting this week i've decided to "only" have my cheat day IF i've been good all week.

For me it was getting the the point where i'd cheat during the week and although i'd curse myself come saturday i'd go crazy and think it was ok because it WAS cheat day.

Now Cheat day is a reward i have to earn it, if i cheat too much during the week i won't get my saturday cheat day, im hoping its going to keep me motivated.

You are not only wanting to loss weight but also change a habit  that took a long time to form.  This is not easy.  Rewarding yourself with food is not bad at all but if you are truly trying to change habits you will stop at a slice of pizza instead of 3 or a half a piece of cake instead of a whole.

The thing I do is to reward myself on my free day.  This way I get my treat and it is not going to hurt my planned meals for the day.
