Does anyone else do this?
Well when I post what I eat, I kind of freak out that I ate more then what it shows. I always do this just in case adding like 100 + calories under the add your own food bit. I just put in the calories. I don't know, I feel like its bad if I'm eating less then that and just making up random calories, but it makes me feel better. Anyways, am I the only one? Your opinions?
I do it too, espeically if I'm entering a new recipe and it doesn't recognize something I'm using (like chicken sausage, it only recognizes pork sausage). I also try to add an extra hundred in case I'm cooking and tasting something, all those sips, tastes and licking the bowl adds up!
Under the add your own food section I used to enter just calories but now I'm obsessed with the rest of the nutrition too to see what grade that particular food will get. It's a nice feature, I find that this website is pretty comprehensive!
I don't think it's too bad if adding extra calories is done in moderation. I think in general if you're starving yourself you'd feel wiped out, not able to concentrate, no energy and not performing at 100%.
I will estimate in extra calories if I've gone out to a restaurant or something but they always have to be justified--ie, an extra 50 for butter or oil or such. But with many homemade meals I am pretty amazed at how low the calories are! And it doesn't make sense to add on numbers from nowhere. So be careful... you don't want your emotions skewing your perceptions of what you are really eating! (Either under OR over)
I'm not exactly sure what you're saying that you do, but I definitely freak out if I log my calories and it says it was.... like, 400, I get worried that it's really like 500 or something.
I don't know... I didn't help whatsoever but if that's what you mean then you're not alone. Haha.
I do it with restaurant food because of the oil used in cooking. I know exactly what I use at home and I also know that frying in restaurants uses a lot more vegetable oil than I use. I use leaner meats too.
One thing I do is substitute a frozen meal entry with restaurant food because I assume they are using the same oils and preservatives.
I try to weigh my servings with a digital kitchen scale to make sure everything is accurate. I think the mind trick is that nutritious food are more filling and contain less calories, so if you are eating well you think "How can this only be XXX calories???".
I think its okay to be conservative with your measurements, but for some people 100 cals is almost 10% of their daily calories!
I always add 50 for spices, gum, my crystal light and such. It makes me feel better. :-)
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
