Anyone else hold weight while PMSing?
Hey guys, I've noticed that about a week before and the week during my period, I get super bloated and I don't lose any weight, so for 2 weeks, I seem to "plateau" or just stay the same weight - not even a pound! But after my period is done, I lose something like 5-8 pounds. Does this happen to anyone else? Is it normal? Is there anything I can do to minimize holding the weight? It's really frustrating!

I get a little bloated a few days before my period is coming and I get EXTREMELLY bloated when I have my period. I decided to not weight myself at all during this time because I know it is just temporary. Also I have notice that I loose like 2 or 3 pounds after my period. I like those days ![]()

i usually get bloated right before my period - 2 days or so before and definitely during my period i'm extremely bloated. I usually gain 3 pounds and lose it by the time my period's done. I do NOT weigh myself during this time lol
Definitely - though it's not normally quite as big a loss as 5-8 pounds. (I wish! :-) ) I tend to put on a pound or so in the week of PMS then drop about 3 pounds when it's all over.
Yup, week before i get super hungry and super bloated, gain a few lbs and then lose it the week after my cycle. The wonderful life of a woman!!! lol
That sounds just like me! I can predict when my period will start based on when I stop losing and then sometimes even gain a couple pounds by the time my period is over. Then, the week after my period I lose 5-6 pounds, which would correspond to my losses for the previous and present week.
I will admit that it still always makes me nervous and I find myself trying to prevent myself from gaining during TTOTM (normally by exercising harder), but the sensible part of me tries to remember that I AM actually still losing fat on my period (water weight is just hiding it) and that it isn't healthy to try and lose weight too rapidly. I also try and focus on how much I enjoy the instant gratification of the post-period week of almost 1 lb per day losses!
oh thank god! I was down on myself for the last few days because I didn't lose any weight this week (my TOTM is within the next day or so). I'll just have to hide the scale for the 2 weeks around that time and bring it out when it's all over.
Yup, I always seem to get more hungry the week before I am due, and get bloated gaining approx 2-3 pounds. This usually drops off the following week though. Try tracking it in the weight log and you'll see a pattern emerge. Very useful tool!
