Anyone else hungry?
Is this your first few days on the 1300 cal limit ?
Is this near your time of the month ?
Are you stressed/upset/angry about something?
Are you drinking enough water?
Have you changed anything in your current diet -as in proportions of different food groups?
All or any one of these can cause hunger even after eating a nutritious meal. Give yourself time (if you are just getting used to cutting down calories) and double- check that you are getting the calories you need...
If it helps, I'm hungry too today :). Today I suspect it is thirst and my body is translating that as hungry - gonna grab some H2O !
Good luck and hang on!
All you can do is drink lots o' water and eat high fiber foods.
Example
normal quaker oatmeal: 160
lower sugar oatmeal: 120
2 slices wheat bread: 160 or in some cases 220
2 slices Healthy Life bread (see label): 70 cal
1 serving bologna: 140
1 serving certain Reduced Fat Turkey slices: 30
see where im goin?
I drink a TON of water during the day... I'm peeing every hour or so, but it keeps me full. I've dropped 10 pounds since I stared seriously dieting a month ago.
For snacking?
I have 5-8 almonds or an apple or a high fiber/low fat granola bar or I drink more water.
All the best!
one thing i do is with every meal i have carrots, cucumber, peppers foods like that i cut them in long slices and eat lots of them, usually in a dressing that i make myself with no fat yogert. I figured out my biggest problem is i just like to have alot of food so i have to eat lots of veggies to make it work and still feel satisfied cause i am not happy if i look at my small portion of food. i feel deprived
get whole grain breads. make sure you can see grain pieces in it. it helps a lot.
eat peanut butter it's high in calorie but it goes a long way. i put about 2 tbspoons on a piece of whole wheat bread in the morning and i won't eat till 5-6 hours later. and like others said fiber! i would also possibly suggest getting a supplement to help you deal with all that. plus you gotta keep in mind that your stomach stretches so when you stop eating less your stomach needs time to adjust and shrink.
For breakfast, try a bowl of VERY high fiber cereal such as All Bran with extra fiber or fiber one. Both low in calories and high in fiber. Add Skim milk and top with TONS of fresh berries. They are extremely low calorie so its pretty hard for the cals to add up to much. This breakfast will run you a max of 200 cals and will keep you running and full untill lunch.
For Lunch, Have a turkey sandwich on whole grain bread, NO WHITE BREAD, it's compleately empty calories and will leave you hungry. Use extra lean oven roasted turkey breast and add mustard, hummus, spinach, tomatoes and sprouts. If thats not enough for you have a few raw veggies dipped in hummus as well such as broccoli or radishes. Top it all off with a low cal fruit like a peach. THIS MEAL WILL KEEP YOU FULL. All this for about 300 cals, depending on the bread and meat you use.
If you do get hungry in the afternoon, for a snack try almonds, yes I know, almonds. They are packed with proien and a small amout of them will keep you full for a long time. Don't go crazy though because they do have a lot of calories:7 per almond. Or, you could try a low cal protien/energy bar. They are very nutrient rich and will also keep you full.
For dinner, try a peice of lean protien and with some form of vegetable. Ex: Grilled salmon with steamed broccoli and asparagus with lemon. Very healthy, delicious and filling. That will run you anywhere from 200-300 cals
Which leaves room for an evening snack like fruit or nuts or a peice of whole wheat toast.
There you go, no more excuses, give up the "normal" food and try some GOOD food. You will ahve way more energy and be full and satisfied all day AND loose weight. Hope that helps.
I'm with you because I have been STARVING all day. I took breakfast, lunch and snacks to work today but I was hungry within 15 minutes after each time I ate. I am allowed 1400 calories a day and it sure doesn't seem like very much food!
I am going to head out shortly and stock-up lots of veggies so I can make salads. I k know they are low in calories and will fill me up!
Good luck!
Drink water before each meal. Also get enough veggies and fruits.
So I try hard to eat less, as per my 1300cal diet limit. But I find I am still HUNGRY! Shortly after breakfast I am hungry again, and then after lunch, and sometimes in the middle of the day...Is this normal? Am I just adjusting to the eating habits or am I eating too little? It also seems to me like I am eating a lot more bad foods than other people have posted on teh site, I don't eat any 5 almonds, and low fat super organic yogurt, 2.5 g of extra lean chicken breast, anyways, I'm just not sure how anyone can eat any of that stuff. I am dedicated, but is it that eating a tiny portion of normal food not filling enough then, vs. the 500 almonds I could have eaten?? You get my point, I am still HUNGRY! Any advice?
If you're hungry then EAT! You aren't hungry for nothing, I always wonder why people won't listen to their bodies. It pretty much knows best when you need something to eat!
The reason for overweight is not because of your body being hungry but because of your brain being stupid. Being hungry doesn't mean you have to eat a cheeseburger(high in fat, very low in fiber, very high in sodium which dehydrates and worst of all very high in processed carbohydrates that won't keep you full) or something like that, sure you most likely don't do that being here, but it's the main reason for being overweight and you have to realize that it doesn't hurt you to eat. Being hungry means you get a slice of multi grain bread, a little bit of some low fat cream cheese and a good amount of lean ham(it has not as much cals as you might think 100grams 100-120 cals is quite low!) or you could just eat a few peaches, apples, bananas but don't overdo it! Also grapes are great they almost have no cals at all, look it up here! If you're hungry then you are for a reason, most of the time because you just haven't eaten enough. I give you an advice, set your cal goal to 1300 - 1800 and if you are hungry then eat, but don't overeat by going over those 1800 cals. And you know what?
I will guarantee you that you will lose weight soon that way and that you will stop being hungry all day. You won't lose as quick as you might like, think of losing 5-8 lbs a month cause that's what I am losing on a regular basis(8 months now) since eating like that(actually I am eating between 1800 and 2100 daily). You most likely didn't gain the weight you want to lose within a month, you most likely won't lose it within a month eater ;)
its all psychological. you think about food therefore you develop this phantom hunger. get involved in something to take your mind elsewhere and you will no longer be hungry.
If you eat only 1300 cals then that is surely NO "phantom hunger". It's real hunger your body feels because it is not only the minimum amount of food you should eat but it is also most likely(depending on the activity level but I guess everyone does more than sleeping all day, right?) already under the bare minimum one should eat!
