Anyone else living in Japan?
I just moved to Japan about 2 1/2 months ago to teach English here, probably for at least 2-3 years. I was wondering if there are others out there living in Japan and how losing weight is going for them. I've probably lost 15-29 lbs since I've been here, without trying or editing what I normally would eat.
A bit about my story. I'm not really a newbie, but considering I've been away from calorie count for about a year and a half, I consider myself sort of a newbie. Before, I lost about 35 lbs, going from 200 lbs to 163 from June 2007 to April 2008 (although some of those months at the end were only maintaing). After that, though, I got sick over the summer, and stopped trying to lose weight or maintain, and I just got completely off track, gaining the weight back plus some.
Now, though, I want to eat healthier and live healthier here in Japan. I'm not sure I'll be able to count calories, but I'll be watching portion sizes and exercising more and more, well, to some extent. Last time, I got a bit obsessed with counting everything, reading and posting on forums, updating weight and activity logs all the time, etc. This time, I need balance here too.
Anyway, I have a lot of thoughts about being unable to find clothes (well, bottoms at least), about being surrounded by skinny minnys, and lamenting my inability to read Japanese and figure out how to cook things. Also, haven't figured out any sort of food routine (skipped dinner tonight because I'm too lazy to cook and don't know how and ruined the last meal I tried to make......lol). But before all that, anyone out there in this country?
Thanks!
